Today, March 18th, 2012, marks the 45th anniversary of Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean! Since then, millions of guests have braved the drops and have journeyed through the caverns of treasure, witnessed a battle at sea, and the burning of a village, all listening to pirates singing that famous song "Yo Ho, A Pirates Life for Me". Many others have enjoyed a waterside meal or two in the calm and peaceful Blue Bayou restaurant. In recent years, this attraction has created its own franchise with four motion pictures and a new popularity around the world. What has been your favorite memory of this very popular attraction??
POTC was my mom's favorite ride. She used to say the 'drops' were her version of a roller coaster! She hasn't been since 1996 (due to a stroke and Alzheimer) but I will never forget how she would always ask to ride in the front (using me or her granddaughter as an excuse!) And her smile and laughs of joy. - Gia

My favorite memory of POTC is that I was to scared to ride it when I was little. My dad took me to a near by bench, sat with me, and began to tell me about, pirates, the ride and what I would experience. He got me on the ride andit has been my favorite ever since. - PrincessLeia

Getting stuck in the pirates-overrun-the-town room by the musicians and the dog with my SIL for about 20 minutes with the music on. We laughed about that for years. We even used the song as each other's ring tones. - VeloMouseGirl

That was me when I was younger. My mom said I used to scream and cry everytime we went on. I just hated it cuz it was a dark ride, I think. - PixarDreamer 245.8 #1043 3:27PM
My son Tatum's first ride he absolutely loved and got him to watch all four movies over and over again and dress up like Capt. Jack Sparrow when we go to DL. He would raise his arms up and scream with enjoyment and point to all the things going on and points out characters and ask tons of questions about whose that pirate, why do they want the red head...lol - MarshaMouse

The red head part of your story has me cracking up right now. What an innocent, adventurous boy Tatum is! (: - Jacqueline 546.7 #205 11:43AM

Favorite ride with my friends to just chill out. Die laughing everytime the Mayors wife pokes her head outta the upstairs window. "Dont tell them Carlos, dont be chicken!" "Dont Carlos, no, no, no!" It has become such a funny inside joke between me & my best friend! Lol love it so so much. - DisneyLizzy

When I was 11 years old my sister and I took an empty water bottle and filled it halfway with water from pirates...horrible idea now but back then it seemed cool since we loved the smell so much! - Tinkertoes83

Happy Birthday POTC!! I love you and your wonderful water smell!!! My favourite memory of this ride is when my sister and I went to DL back in 2009 we went on this ride every night as our last ride and one night there were these people ahead of us and they asked the CM how long the lineup was and she said, "As long as it takes you to walk to the front." I don't know, I just thought it was funny! - PixarDreamer

I don't have an individual memory, but I remember the feelings of going on it when I was younger. It was always the first ride my family and I went on when we were younger because it was my moms favorite. So I was always extremely happy when on that ride. For a few years at the beginning I hated it though. I was afraid of it when I was younger, haha. - KylaShea

My best memory of this ride was during the Olympics in L.A and the park had light crowds and we didn't have to get off for 3 rounds!
