Question! I'm thinking of going to buy my first SLR camera to take pictures around Disneyland. What is a good type of camera for beginners? I was looking at Nikon D3100 or canon rebel..

Olympus E520. Pictures don't come out soft like a lot of the other brands out there, and the colors are killer. I love my Olympus, they are so underestimated. :) - flukefan

A rebel will suit your needs if you are a hobbiest. You can always invest in nicer lenses at a later date. If you want a little more of an upgrade a canon 60d is nice and you can pick one up at costco. - DlandDude

another vote for canon rebel or 60d. they're awesome cameras with tons of lenses and accessories that fit most of the cameras that they have. - secretagentangel

The E520 or E620 with the kit lenses is an excellent starter kit. However, after you feel comfortable enough with that and you upgrade to higher quality weathersealed lenses, you can upgrade to a pro body, which is also weather sealed. Helpful for World of Color and Fantasmic, that's for sure. I love my kit lenses so much though, they are great for being just "the basics". I wont be selling mine even though I've recently upgraded. :) - flukefan 266.4 #861 4:37PM

I have always been a Canon man. Nikon's are great cameras but I believe the Canon will be more friendly and easier to use. All my SLR Canons are 35mm film and I have the pix made on a disk and download to my computer. If you follow Shadowgamer and his pix, he uses the Canon T2i which is the one I will be picking up next month at Costco. It has a package with extra lenses and bag. - splashphotoCM

I highly recommend the Canon. I've had both DSLR.s and film. Quality is top notch and the cost is a bit better than Nikon. Good luck with which ever one you choose. - VeloMouseGirl
