I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping to find someone who is familiar with the Modesto area, specifically Diablo Grande. We may be moving to that area, but I hear there are lots of snakes. I want to be aware if that's the case.
Anywhere in California= a lot of snakes probably live there. - tuesday737

Probably, since it's dry. We live in an area where there are tons of rattlesnake warnings, but I've only seen 2 rattlesnakes in 5 years. Prepare yourself: know what to do if you see one in your yard, talk to your kids about what they should do if they see one, and if you have a dog, get him vaccinated. Also, be sure to keep screen doors shut so they don't get inside. (Yikes!) Be prepared, but try not to be overly-worried--they don't particularly like people, so it's not likely you'll be fighting off snakes to get to the car in the morning :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Diablo Canyon is way up in no mans land..lol. Yes a dry area but just like all of CA. It depends on rain but there is a nice gated community @a the Diablo Grande Country Club but last time I was there not a lot of houses that were occupied and there are dear, coyote, raccoons and other wild animals too...lol - yellowtonka
