Hi everyone. Is Napa Rose appropriate for a sometimes active 4 year old, or is it more of a quiet adults only atmosphere? I've been dying to go, but it's hard to get a sitter sometimes.
My girls are 2&6 and are well behaved. However, there are places that I still don't take them for dinner. Even well-behaved kids have their moments and after a day at the parks I never know what I'm going to get from my 2 year old. I'm like you. I rarely get a babysitter. But that makes those times/ places that are just for my husband and I even more special. Another thing I can say is that wherever we are eating(I don't care if it's Red Robin)if my child does have any kind of a meltdown, we leave. MY child equals MY ruined dinner... Never someone else's. - RCmom

Thank you for that! We have had to leave on 1 or 2 occasiOns! - Minnis2Society 360.0 #389 2:54PM
Thanks, ryleecarlymom. I have to remember that "MY child equals MY ruined dinner... Never someone else's" for whenever/if ever I become a parent. That's brilliant! - onezerohero 147.2 #2326 3:21PM
Exactly. Just because you think kids poop rainbows doesn't mean you should assume the couple next to you does. Your kid, Your ruined meal. Amen! - cynDOLEwhip 744.1 #137 3:34PM
Bah ha ha! "poop rainbows!" - onezerohero 147.2 #2326 3:44PM
I already know that if I am a restaurant with my child, and they have a meltdown, there is no hesitation. I am picking him/her up and going outside to either a) leave or b) wait until they calm down. - Slotherini 886.9 #99 6:44PM
Cyndelgrace: yours don't poop rainbows? ;) j/k! I'm actually always a little nervous when we go out to eat with our 1 year old, we are constantly trying to keep him distracted/occupied so he doesn't have a melt down. Once he does have a melt down, either myself or my husband take turns taking him outside while the other eats. I think the Napa Rose is too fancy to take our son, I would be sweatin the whole time lol! - kss4tink 216.8 #1396 7:55PM
No, if you have little ones I would sit in the lounge, there is plenty of room in there, not as formal and you can get the same food. The dining room there really isn't a place for a toddler - Dave

I totally agree with Dave. There was a toddler there when I went but he was one of those freakishly well behaved robot kids. Lol! - TokyoTink 151.4 #2266 1:37PM
Thank you, great advice!! - Nicole 380.2 #356 1:40PM
Agree. Hubby and I have yet to enjoy Napa Rose, but when we do we will be expecting a grownup experience. - PrincessDuckie 587.8 #187 2:02PM
As a former waitress, where ever you take them, please, for the love of Mike, don't let them run around the restaurant while you eat. I've seen too many unfortunate injuries involving hot food and coffee that way. - Bo22

Not just that, it disturbs the other diners. - Lelundrial 341.0 #428 3:35PM
I have wondered this myself. Just looking at the menu suggests a more "adult" atmosphere. So I don't bother. My son knows how to behave, but if he is bored and unhappy. That will ruin it. - Lelundrial

I think it depends on the child. Just be considerate of the people having a once in a lifetime $$$$ dinner. You also might enjoy it more without kids. I was always so worried about my kids well, acting like kids. Lol - SueBayou

Good thing mine and Romec's are perfect. We never have these problems! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚ - Minnis2Society 360.0 #389 1:36PM
Yes! She's better behaved than romec. And she's my MWBFF. - SueBayou 2012.0 #34 2:08PM
Bhahahahaha. Lexi is actually really good too! She would sit quitely thru a dinner, but I wouldn't make her! Bradley thou...he really is special! And yes Lexi is better behaved than me...my mouth gets in the way! Hahahaha - Minnis2Society 360.0 #389 2:44PM
When I have my kid I usually just go to the lounge instead of the fancy part of a restaraunt. You can still enjoy the food but you won't have to be stressed about shusshing and making it less fun for a kid or taking away from a romantic atmosphere for folks who are trying to have a nice formal dinner. - madsdad

I'll babysit if you want to take Marsha!;-) 😂 - SueBayou 2012.0 #34 1:51PM
Well the most romantic place would be the the place that sells the turkey legs. 2nd romantic is Goofy's kitchen. - madsdad 1124.6 #73 1:53PM
I am sure Marsha loves those turkey legs! 😷 maybe with an arguing family next to you! So romantic!! - Minnis2Society 360.0 #389 1:58PM
Lol I may take you up on that on my fathers day trip sue! - madsdad 1124.6 #73 3:33PM
Kids are finicky. Even the most well behaved child can be a bear, especially after a long day at the parks. My goal for my birthday dinner was Napa Rose and even though it looks like we won't be able to spring for it at this time in our lives, I know that if we were putting out the money, I would have been bummed if there was a loud/unruly/annoying child at the next table. It's your decision but be ready to leave if your child isn't an angel. The lounge sounds like a nice compromise though. - cynDOLEwhip

If your child can't order off the menu and can't sit quiet for 2 hours, they're too young. This place is too expensive to waste on a kid that is too little to appreciate it. It's not fair to you, the kid, or the other diners. Just my two cents. :) - Kari_Bo_Berry

It's only OK if your child will punch people in the stomach. - Mouse4life

Go for it! I've been with my 4yo nephew before. - Mickey74

I agree with everyone else. Some 4 year olds are very well behaved, some a little more rambunctious. If your kid is well behaved go for it. Maybe try the lounge one time to try it out. - ilovemickey8

The Grand Californian has what appears to be an excellent daycare center if you'd like a nice quiet dinner. - icephoenix25

To utilize it you have to be staying the night at the grand and also I think the kids must be a certain age...I think like 5 or so. - ktkakes 325.2 #502 3:50PM
We walked by it going back and forth to our room and it looked really nice and the kids were having a good time. They wouldn't allow anyone staying at any of the resort hotels to use it though? - icephoenix25 234.8 #1170 3:53PM
Guest of the Grand get 1st priority to the daycare center. If there are spots available, guests of DL or PP hotels can utilize it. - Jewelz 440.8 #281 3:57PM
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will definitely be getting a sitter sometime so we can go. - Nicole
