Good morning MWer's. Was watching the news before leaving the house and it's been said that the price of gas this summer here in Calif. will be $5 + per gallon. I live in Covina so it will not effect me. But for tbose of you that live further away, will this decrease the amount of trips to the parks you make? Will disney also increase their prices on everything. Hey have a good day, specially if are in the park today'

I know I'm forbidden to speak of politics but man I wish the government would control this already....πŸ˜” - MarshaMouse  4073.9 #24 7:37AM
Lol, sometimes I wonder if the government IS controlling these spikes. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.4 #320 8:22AM
Lol. I know! The masses shouldn't question or be curious! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.4 #320 8:29AM
The thing I don't understand is we have oil here in our own country to last us hundreds of years and thethe question is why are we not using it - beastfearn  129.7 #2902 8:48AM
Because right now it's cheaper to get it from other countries. It will only suit the oil giants to tap your resources when the price is more profitable. You have a massive oilfield in Alaska, the Dakotas, and Montana which remains untouched. - Wizard  81.6 #3681 8:56AM
The problem is the speculative or "futures" gasoline market. It fractures the economics of supply and demand. - garyknowz1  9.7 #9654 8:59AM
Totally agree with you @wizard but how could it be cheaper to get it from other countries when we could profit and create work for people and keep the money in our own country rather than pay other countries to do our work. - beastfearn  129.7 #2902 9:06AM
My brother works on tug boats and its not uncommon for the big tankers to refuse to dock and stay off the coast for a while to crate a gas shortage to drive prices up. - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #162 9:09AM
Put it this way. If country "A" has employees who work and operate for less than country "B" ,you are left making a choice which will be more cost effective. Why does Wal-Mart have so many of its products imported from asian countries. If it was made in the USA it would be 2-3 times as expensive. - Wizard  81.6 #3681 9:14AM
I read a report in 2005 that if everyone stopped drilling at that point in time....the middle east would have a 60 year supply. Canada was next with 40 year. I of course don't know what it is now but it sorta proves a point. - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 9:43AM
LLD, what you have just revealed to us has encouraged me to start a Robin Hood-esque band of pirates. We sail out, storm the ships that do this, and sail them into port. - TheBudd  357.3 #579 9:48AM
It makes little sense to me how the government can regulate some things, but not others. Those prices surprise me though. - theDebsterM  138.2 #2773 2:11PM
They have been predicting $5 for years now. I'll believe it when I actually see in locally. It's been close but not actually $5 around here. It won't stop me. I get awesome gas mileage. Granted i run premium because I have a turbo But I can go nearly 500 miles to a tank - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 7:42AM
Awesome gas mileage! What kind of car do you drive? Wish I could get 500 miles out of my pickup's gas tank. - MiggyMouse  296.9 #836 8:28AM
Yeah, I commute 50 miles one way for work, so my concern isn't DL/vacations right now, lol. But we do have two fuel-efficient cars. I'm never buying a big SUV. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.4 #320 8:28AM
I believe it this year... I got gas yesterday and it was $4.14/gal :( - CheshireFreak  235.9 #1404 8:57AM
I have a 2012 Volkswagen CC. I also drive a manual. I traded a Magnum for it so I know the bad gas mileage feeling. My gas bill went down about $200 a month - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 8:59AM
We're a VW family also. Looooove their mileage!! - theDebsterM  138.2 #2773 2:13PM
Fewer trips but longer stays is the answer for me. Thanks in advance to all you Smartcar and electric car drivers out there, my Tahoe can surely use your gas. Bhahaha. But seriously. Thanks. - splashphotoCM  885.6 #176 12:09PM
.10 cent jump at costco in two days here in the high desert. That was yesterday. $3.77 to 3.87. Today $3.89. Glad I filled up yesterday. - splashphotoCM  885.6 #176 1:01PM
Just figured it out, 112 miles from house to DL, so says Garmin. Tahoe gets 20 MPH on these trip without A/C on. 5.5 gallons each way so that trip costs me at today's prices $46.68. I keep both cars filled and top off between 1/2 - splashphotoCM  885.6 #176 1:19PM
I live in Alberta otherwise known as Texas north. My economy where I live is largely based on oil production. We supply a large percentage of the oil to the world market. We are currently paying over $4 a gallon at the pumps. The fuel we consume comes from our backyard, yet we pay more. European countries are paying double if not triple that. So you are paying less than $4 a gallon which is less than most areas. Count yourselves lucky. - Wizard  81.6 #3681 8:20AM
They also have better burning fuel. I'd gladly pay their price to get their gas - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 8:28AM
Our fuel here has been mixed with a percentage of ethanol. When mixed with gasoline it burns hotter and faster. Which in turn makes our fuel less efficient. My prediction is that the price of oil will go up to $150 to $200 dollars a barrel. I have sources in the industry who also agree with that statement. Then the domino effect will take over. - Wizard  81.6 #3681 8:46AM
Ugh....time to start utilizing mass transit, car pool, or bike. That makes more of an impact then boycotting a gas station for a day. You may not buy it on Monday but I'm sure you'll buy it on Sunday or tuesday lol - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 9:05AM
Exactly Kiss. I just pass the expense on to my customers. If I pay more then so do they. - Wizard  81.6 #3681 9:35AM
πŸ˜₯😰😲 - E-Ticket  1189.4 #120 7:25AM
wow thats expensive! it prob wont decrease our trips. we tend to stay away during summer bc of the crowds and such. - LolatheSlush  231.4 #1475 7:28AM
I think that we will still go, we'll just stay at cheaper hotels and spend less on food/vinylmations to make up the difference in gas $$. We are 6 hours away, and one trip is usually 2-3 full tanks of gas. Yes, i think prices will probably increase for the summer--whenever gas prices go up, so does everything else. It's a trickle down effect. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.4 #320 7:30AM
It's going up like crazy up here in Sacramento... Most places are at 4 dollars or are about to be... But I usually fly when I go down! - UrsulasTwin  323.7 #696 7:30AM
Yeah, it jumped .20 in 5 days in Turlock! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.4 #320 7:36AM
Last night I drove by a gas station and it was 3.79 this morning it is 3.85.. And that's Arco! - UrsulasTwin  323.7 #696 7:43AM

I saw a .10 jump in 2 days. I highly doubt I will it effect how often I go but I drive a hybrid. And I drive all over for work anyways. - tiggertwin  330.2 #662 7:47AM
I hate to say this but yes it is going to effect how often we go. I drive a truck and when gas prices hit over the $4.00 mark I tend to only go where I absolutely have to. Where I live the gas prices are normally the highest in the state. So we see well over $4.00 a gallon during the holidays and summer months. - MissyluvsDisneyland  362.0 #565 7:47AM

Yes it will greatly affect us. We are retired and live on hubby pension. His pension doesn't go up. We have rentals however when the economy is bad its hard to raise rents if you want to keep your tenants. - sewgirl  342.6 #619 8:33AM

I used to drive a gas guzzling Ford Explorer. I loved it!! But I switched to a Honda Accord, and my wallet is no longer screaming at me everytime I open it. I live in the Bay Area. I can drive to DL, on one tank of gas, for $50. I'll keep my Accord, and I'll continue to make the trips that I do. 😊 - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #136 9:36AM
I read a report in 2005 that if everyone stopped drilling at that point in time....the middle east would have a 60 year supply. Canada was next with 40 year. I of course don't know what it is now but it sorta proves a point. - KissDclown  1089.3 #138 9:43AM

OH yeah that has been all over the news, all weekend. It also mentioned that airlines are to raise their gas prices. Good thing I already purchased our tickets.
- Lelundrial  478.2 #387 9:50AM
Ok so when it does reach $5 a gallon I'll be asking for a MW carpool from the 559 to the 714!!! In either case it won't stop me, I've been wanting to try the Amtrak or Greyhound. - 559MickeyLover  309.4 #765 9:51AM
I have a kia spectra5hatchback and its 3.35 right now in phoenix pet gallon.. I will still go to Disney. Although it will probably be more this summer. - landoversky  100.2 #3407 11:09AM
Does Anyone else live in the 661? Carpool? It's getting to the point where staying the night is cheaper and just be there for 2 days.

We already pay $5+ per gallon up here in Canada, and we are an oil producing/exporting country... - proudcanuck  478.5 #385 12:14PM
Increasing gas prices will likely decrease my short visits to Disneyland.  I've estimated that my current roundtrip cost of driving to Disneyland is $20 at the low end (meaning no traffic which means better MPG) and $25 at the high end (meaning with traffic and worse MPG).  I've driven to Disneyland 10 times since the beginning of the year which calculates to $200 to $250 in 7 weeks.  Ugh!  Calculating that just made me ill :o/
- onezerohero  162.2 #2400 12:15PM
If this comes true I'll be feeling it in more ways than one. My job will probably be in jeopardy, as it already takes over $100 to fill that beastly food truck up. My car is a super gas guzzler and I'm saving up to get an apartment so buying a more efficient car is not probable. I'll probably just take the bus to school next year if this is the case, and DL trips will not be twice a week anymore. - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #162 12:18PM
we are driving from Washington state this summer and we predict our gas bill will be around 450.00, which sucks but we won't change our plans. - shellbelle  28.6 #5453 12:53PM
Last two trips we flew in! Comparing the cost between airline tickets (if you book early enough) + rental car VS driving to Cali and the wear and tear on your vehicle it's pretty much equals out to about the same ammount in our case. - donnievegas  1132.4 #131 1:00PM
Of course if you have kiddos than driving is probably a cheaper option. - donnievegas  1132.4 #131 1:02PM

With all the bills I have to pay, unfortunately my trips will be less frequent :( - PrincessMacyCM  535.5 #334 1:36PM
Same here. Ugh... - CadaverousPallor  268.2 #1072 1:52PM
All I know is that the government and the oil companies are greedy and clueless. DOH! I swore I'd never get political on MW! Looks like I blew it. I failed!! - CadaverousPallor  268.2 #1072 1:43PM
When we drove down last Monday, the station we normally stop at on I-5 was $3.99 for regular. When we came back on Thursday, it was $4.19. We ended up spending around $50 total on gas, and that's only because we have a Prius. We're considering flying when we go back in June. The only problem with that is that when gas skyrockets, airfares sometimes follow suit. - robin_sparkles  293.8 #853 1:52PM

Back in 2002 I was paying 4 something sometimes 5.12 for a gallon of gas I was living in Belmont California at the time an with a newborn baby bringing him to Fresno to visit the family was expensive every weekend. Now me & my growing family live in our home town fresno don't care about prices after that expirence so it won't be stopping my family from using our new APs - Singh2011  183.3 #2089 2:07PM

I'll be wise when driving (not speeding, braking hard) but it won't stop my from going to Disneyland. Anyways a lot of money only goes to Disneyland (not the kind of mall shopping girl or Starbucks buying each day girl) - iamdugsmaster  878.7 #179 2:13PM
I work for a big oil company, unfortunately I cannot complain about high gas prices because high oil prices=high gas prices=job for me and income for my family! - akpoppins  263.1 #1114 2:13PM

If you're there today, you can make HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 'S POTC meetup at 6 pm. Usually they will gather across from the ride entrance. Perhaps along the fence area of the Riverbelle Terrace. Look for a fairly large group of fun-loving people. Many will have their mouse ears on. Your hostess, Ms Churro, will be leading the way. Just dive right in and ask, 'excuse me. Is this the Mousewait meetup?'  You won't be sorry!  Disneygrl35 - MeridaFan  3439.0 #28 2:09PM

unFORECAST (BETA) is here! Top MouseWaiters giving you the rundown of what's happening at the Disneyland Resort. Automated crowd prediction calendars are worthless--the UNFORECAST is where it's at!

unForecast for week of December 22, 2014:

Park Hours: DL: 8am-12am (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday) 8am-11pm (Wednesday); DCA: 8am-11pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday), 8am-10pm (Wednesday).

Reminder to check out the new "Freeze the Night", apart of Frozen Fun in Hollywood Land every night.

unForecast Crowd Prediction: Expect it to be busy this week, Monday and Tuesday, with CIs in the 80s in Disneyland Park and in the 70s in DCA. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are hard to predict, crowd wise, as it is sometimes busy and sometimes crowded. Then expect it to be busy the rest of the weekend.

Merry Christmas!  - BaseballMickey_CM Dec 22, 2014 12:07PM
