Hey all! I'm considering surprising my wife with a 3 day trip to Disneyland while staying at the Grand Californian. We have been AP holders for years, but we've always talked about staying at the hotel. I know it is expensive, but for those who have done it was it worth it? Is there anything special about it like room service, breakfast, enter park early, etc? When is a good time to stay (i.e. weekends v. weekdays)? I'm considering this, San Diego, or San Francisco; but this is the thing we've talked about the most. I appreciate any input and thank you in advance.
The Grand is nice, conveniently located and has a fabulous lobby to relax in. I think the DL Hotel has a magic feel that is lacking at The Grand. So, it depends what you are looking for. I am glad I was able to experience staying at The Grand but I wouldn't stay there again....unless I got an amazing deal. - Jewelz

I haven't done it yet but I know hotel guests can take advantage of magic morning hours which I believe are listed on the Disneyland calendar so you can plan in advance! :) I hope you and your wife have a great time whichever idea you decide to do! :) - SarahJoshDisney

They are both nice and I agree that the Grand has a more magical feel to it, but I personally don't think it's worth it. Nothing against the hotels what so ever! Just price wise and considering that I spend the majority of my time outside the hotel, it isn't worth it. - Poisen_Ivy

To be fair though... I think I should add that it's def nice to be able to experience it once. - Poisen_Ivy 257.9 #925 10:26PM
What a sweet surprise. I hope one day to stay at the Grand. Haven't stayed there but it is very pretty. - nocaldisneylover
