Those contemplating on quitting: Don't. Believe me, I was in the same position as you, but I reached out in a meetup and made some friends for LIFE. Yes, LIFE! Just last night, after the buzz meetup, I spoke with a MWer last night and he told me that the app has changed his life and made DL a much more enjoyable place to hang out. There are people, here, with common passions for Disney. 13 or 40, people act like kids. Love to wear those big sorcerer hats? So do we!!!! We love filling up a pirates boat or a jungle boat, or blasting Zurg away, many things that a MW meetup can offer. We may seem harsh, but in person, we are completely different people for the better. So, if you're a lurker or a former MWer, I encourage you to attend one of our meetups and see MW for yourself. Admin has created an amazing app and I would hate for you to miss out on potential relationships that can change your life. I wouldn't ask you to do something that I wouldn't do. Just give it one more chance. #peaceout #openforum
I am breaking my month-long silence with this reply. That was very well said. The problem is...first impressions made with bad humor or sarcasm, chastising a new member because they saturate the rooms with photos, or they ask the wrong question. Repeatedly, veteran members will reply to these posts with "oh, lawdy!" Or "pass the popcorn". That is a huge put off the the newer members. As for the folks that haven't been on very long AND don't get to the parks as often as most, the attitude is "Your not us, so don't speak to us" or you don't come to the meet-ups, so you have no idea about us". Well guess what, with attitude, I don't want to know you. I have not met one single solitary MW member, yet some I love like a sibling. Others, eh, not so much.
The air of Disnobbery some folks have is just too much to stomach, and that is a major turn off for ALOT of folks. If people stop participating on MW, there will be no reason for MW. I don't want to see it, you don't want to see it. People need to understand we are all in this together. Humor, if correctly passed on, is great. Sarcasm and mean spiritedness is not. I think that BCC was trying to say something positive and encouraging, and your reply BHhaha just fuels the divide. There are many, many people on this app. Everybody is not going to get along, or like each other, or have the same sense of humor. You don't find sarcasm funny, I do, the world won't end. And what happens in this lounge is off putting, if you aren't capable of being on an online forum. And pointing fingers at the veterans of this app is old. I've met many of them, and they are some of the nicest, most genuine people I've met. And for the record, the "oh lawdy" and "pass the popcorn" comments are not all from veterans. This lounge is customizable. Use the block feature, use the RP feature and move on. Drama is found were you look for it. Actually, my intent was not to fan any flames. If that is what you took from it, I am sorry. I was trying to convey the frustrations new members, and some older ones, feel when making a posting faux pas. People, of all rank levels, say things they think are funny, but come across as mean spirited, but the newer members, for the most part, are only doing to curry favor of those with a higher ranking.

There are two things that a lot of people fail to realize about MW: 1) it's a "democratic" chat room, meaning that there aren't any moderators. Users report posts and try to keep things up to standard themselves. Yep, there's a lot of sarcasm, but in the whole, most of these users are genuinely trying to help the lounge stay the way admin intended--instead they often get unfairly called bullies or jerks for merely trying to refer people to the FAQs. 2) the Lounge is completely customizable with the block and RP buttons, so you have 100% control over what you see. If you get sucked into drama and let it get you down, it's your own fault, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

CONFESSION: I had no clue what MW was when my hubby dragged me to our first meet up, had no clue what to expect. But I can tell you that I am so happy my hubby did. I have met some wonderful people here and some I consider friends. Ya there are some people here who go past sarcasm, but I just block them, I'm to old to deal w childish stuff like that. I agree BCC This app is priceless! Disneyland will never be the same for me. I felt it has made me a more confident, stronger and happier person. I love driving there, parking there and automatically bumping into a MWer and hanging with them. Large or small group it has been a life changing experience for me. I'm glad to see you stress that MWers are great in person and that whole aspect is a new and exciting experience. We all have our moments but I feel like there are few out there that seem to truly be cruel or bullies. I look forward to meeting MWers on our next trip and while there has been a learning curve, I hope people do power through it and learn to appreciate what we have here. Some grace on new members through that learning curve would be nice but I know it can be hard when you've been around long enough to see something hundreds of times. - cynDOLEwhip

I agree! Living in Canada, MW is my only way to DL each day away from six kids! Even if it's a few mins, I am reminded of the inner child in me who loves to play and this app takes me to my "fun" place! I love to just see whats goin' on and say hi to numerous MW app friends. ( i have yet to meet a MW at the parks!)Many MW have given wise and comforting words when I first joined last April, two months after my Dad passed away. Thanks to all of you I am not as depressed as I could have been through that difficult time ,and I can offer the same consoling words and reach out to others who are going through the same loss.
