I don't have a problem with that :) - JazzSingingMermaid

leave it to the hipsters to reinvent the beard. - littleoysterz

Something I think a lot of Disney purists forget is that Walt was first and foremost a businessman. Yes, he was a family man, a dreamer, and an innovator. But he made sure that his imagination also took him the way of the dollar. It wouldn't have been as succesful without a solid business plan. And in the world of business, your customers are your first priority but if you neglect your employees satisfaction your business will suffer. Just another aspect to think about. - mandigutterrose

In all honesty I wish my company would do this. Having a beard or goatee in a very clean matter actually makes some men look more mature. And in some of the attractions beards would've been appropriate. Like POTC or BTMR. So I'm all for the new looks. It makes Disney that more diverse. Thanks for listening (steps down for the soapbox). ☺☺☺ - Waites4DodgerEars

I agree! My husband looks about 14 when he gets the idea to shave his goatee. We're younger than we look as it is, at this point in our life it's NOT a compliment. - mandigutterrose 156.4 #2203 6:55PM
They are also adding in casual Fridays. That's kinda cool! - KissDclown

One of the things people are mentioning is that it will be tough to have a consistent standard as to what "neat and trimmed" means. With the male CMs being clean-shaven, it is easy to tell who has not been maintaining that standard and easier to help them fix it. - IDVandalSkipperCM

To me... Neat and trim mean that food can't be easily caught in it. 😝 - Waites4DodgerEars 659.2 #158 2:59PM
Absolutely agree. Keep the standards as they are. What concessions will be made for female CM's re the facial hair issue? Dyed streaked hair? And now we get the new beard nets to cover facial hair for the food service CM's.

Exactly, Splash. Some say Disney is strict with their guidelines but in my opinion they are upholding tradition and the rules established by Walt Disney, founder and creator of Disneyland. Some things are best left the way they were. - IDVandalSkipperCM 1291.3 #63 3:17PM
Another issue is, if they're making this concession for male CMs, what concession are they going to make for female CMs? - IDVandalSkipperCM

When I interviewed at DLR I had a goatee. They said I would have to shave it but could keep mustache trimmed. And I did. No problem. Shaved everyday I worked. I saw alot of cast members with unshaven faces and non regulation mustaches, and I would tell them about it. I was much older and they blew me off and complained to the leads and mgrs. Most of whom looked at them and told them to go shave,go home or quit. I agree with this policy. Walt had a thin mustche. - splashphotoCM

Another problem. The guidelines will have to be controlled to the the point of pre-shift inspections if the facial hair meets guidelines. They already have these done in regards of trimmed fingernails, hair, polished and acceptable shoes, overall neatness. CM's are sent home for some of these violations or sent back to costuming to change. This takes a CM off the stage and now the store or attraction is running short. CM's have to be held over or in some cases an attraction has to close down bc of safety issues not having ample members to run it. It will cause more problems. Keep the standards as established by Walt. Disney is a wholesome family place. And food service will have to wear beard-nets. Very attractive and something else DLR will have to purchase and supply to CM's. Add another 50 cents to that churro, Dole Whip, burger. You get the idea. - splashphotoCM 880.9 #101 3:23PM
Great example! I've seen CMs sent to go shave because they had day old stubble. - IDVandalSkipperCM 1291.3 #63 3:57PM
I'm heading in to work now and I'm sure a lot of CMs will have something to say about the new change. We'll see what debates transpire. - IDVandalSkipperCM

I just returned from work and most people I spoke with were really surprised about this bit of information. Many CMs didn't know about the news until I (or another CM) informed them. The guys are all pretty excited about it and are ready to start growing their beards. Many CMs didn't have any clue the Disney Look rules were changing until the news broke today. - IDVandalSkipperCM
