did anyone here ever ride the rocket rods? just curious cuz i dont remember them..it says they malfunctioned so much they just shut it down after two yrs. - quick desc. 1998?2000, Rocket Rods A short-lived attempt at a thrill ride using the massive supportive infrastructure and track left from the people mover track

I did. I remember waiting in line forever then it was over and i was thinking,"that's it? " - Melli_mo  506.1 #419 6:41AM
I ditto this. "That's it?" and "They took out people mover for this?" - alankeno  57.8 #4481 7:24AM
I felt the same way. Spent more time in line then on the ride. - Diznimom  225.2 #1666 10:52AM
Felt the same way. - melissa_ficent  318.6 #809 11:10AM
It was a cool idea in concept, but in real life it was terrible. Not adding banked turns ruined the entire experience due to having to slow way down to make a turn. That and the fact it was always breaking down sealed it's fate. I also despised the fact they took out 2 attractions to set it up.
- CM_Shadowgamer  2515.9 #55 7:41AM
In addition to this info...I've read that they looked into re-doing it in some form by putting more money into it...but would have to add ladders for emergency exits to get down off the platforms and Disney thought that would clutter up and ruin the look of Tomorrowland. Not sure how accurate this info is, but it does make sense for newer safety regulations. - ktkakes  331.6 #738 9:33PM
Frickin OSHA - CM_Shadowgamer  2515.9 #55 9:34PM
I mean...I understand that safety is a necessity but they simply are not understanding how amazing Disneyland could be without all those pesky rules... - ktkakes  331.6 #738 9:45PM
I once rode them...it was pretty cool...and fast... - Disneyrockstar  190.6 #2106 6:50AM
I rememebr it, I also remember liking the people mover better. - epyon8250  309.1 #861 6:42AM
Oh ya! - Melli_mo  506.1 #419 6:45AM
I liked this ride, but there were problems with it. - potatohead25  701.8 #274 7:15AM
I remember them. Loved them but loved the people mover more - KissDclown  1089.1 #167 7:17AM
I rode that one once with my dad. he screamed the whole time. i thought it was fun but he was really scared. - NancyLuvsEeyore  249.3 #1359 7:20AM
I remember it. I wondered why it was gone. I liked it. - FanOfJack  156.2 #2621 7:20AM
I loved this ride. The only downside is the long line it had because it broke down a lot. - rbeezy  703.0 #273 7:22AM
I did many times... But, it was always breaking down. =(
- SJCSharkie  315.5 #822 7:22AM
Rocket rods were terrible! - sharkbait  423.3 #521 7:25AM
I liked them, but they broke down often. And I saw the back of one catch on fire when they were testing the ride once. Kind of a bad sign! - Mimmy  1442.3 #118 7:27AM
They did break down often but it was a great ride while they lasted. - ace4579  205.8 #1917 7:31AM
I remember riding this. I only rode it once then it was gone. - thestalkerNIN  362.4 #636 7:38AM
I remember these I only got to ride them a couple of times because of all the difficulties! It was a fun ride though! - nikole31  242.9 #1445 7:40AM
I loved this ride. I'm so glad I got on this ride many times.... - JLAC  214.4 #1811 7:43AM
We rode them, big wait and a tiny bit of acceleration, very disappointing, they looked pretty cool though. - Marko  4.7 #19972 7:53AM
yesss the one thing I remember is they always broke down too lol - emariegee  127.9 #3070 7:59AM
Ahh shucks ive never been on that. - JazzSingingMermaid  338.6 #708 8:00AM
Rode them many times. Absolutely loved the look and the acceleration - Melody_CM  13474.2 #3 8:11AM
I totally remember it being the longest wait ever!! And super short ride, but it was fun! - littleone  246.4 #1399 8:18AM
It was a fun ride but like others have said, the payoff wasn't really worth the wait. Probably a ride that was much better on paper than how it turned out... - CVDisneyland  411.2 #540 8:24AM
I remember them. I loved it. But agreed the amount of time you waited in line wasn't worth how short the ride was. - iluvdisney89  49.4 #4805 8:29AM
never rode them, but being on a track that isn't banked around the corners makes for a more gentle ride and not as thrilling - misschurro  6361.2 #17 8:31AM
I was lucky enough to ride them in 2000, on a good day that they did not break down. - AshleyLynn22  791.2 #233 8:34AM
No there was a huge block of years in which I didn't go to disney. Someone I know told me that those things broke down all the time. - Lelundrial  656.3 #304 8:37AM
I got lucky once. I wasn't impressed! - Katrayher  781.0 #239 8:38AM
I remember my sister going on it, but I was still too short back then. ๎ƒ - Hop_Low  268.5 #1181 8:39AM
I thought the ride was cool when I rode it as a kid but yeah it broke down way to much - zer0veryd  16.3 #8177 8:41AM
I remember them! I liked it too - for some reason I don't remember it breaking down a lot, hwvr I do remember the long waiting to ride... - LMAO-Asturi  173.3 #2348 10:34AM
Never had a chance to ride it. Every time I was there, it was either under construction, or broken.  They need something else up there... something that WORKS. *LOL* - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #550 10:37AM
Close as I got was the line, it broke down so we gave up - lisaw  159.7 #2570 10:38AM
That's and awesome pic! - JessicaRabbit33  670.3 #301 10:40AM
To me, the worst thing was how incredibly loud the ride was. So no matter where you were outside in Tomorrowland, you had to tolerate the very loud noise they made. - Bo22  394.2 #570 11:02AM
I can't really say I've been on this ride because it broke down on me when I entered the first room. I waited maybe a little over 2 hours and had to walk off the ride no later than 1 minute into the ride. That was the only time I was able to ride it :/ - SorcererD91  2897.4 #45 11:03AM
Ok I just rode the rocket rods via you tube lol and yes it was loud - lisaw  159.7 #2570 11:06AM
Just once it was like 30 seconds I liked waiting in the inside though I think they had an old people mover car. I'm not sure - princessVanessa  384.3 #585 11:10AM
Here's a video of it http://tinyurl.com/6uwg5fc - cesium55  531.8 #390 11:11AM
I did it wasnt a revy long ride and I waited 3 hours for it - MelB  108.6 #3458 11:15AM
That is exactly why I will not wait longer then 25 mins for a ride. - Lelundrial  656.3 #304 11:16AM
I also waited 3 hours for that ride. It broke down a lot! - leanne8507  5.0 #18937 11:27AM
I was thinking it would be cool to turn that ride into a wall-e ride or put it back to people mover. Seems like a waste of space. Do something with it. ;-) - LynniePooh  238.0 #1495 11:55AM
Let's write an say" bring back the people mover"... - jammingjoe  24.3 #6644 11:58AM
I rode it on my first trip to Disneyland. After it was gone, I thought I was crazy for remembering riding a fast ride through tomorrowland cuz I was told that it was the Peoplemover track and that it was slow! - Sheilamo  318.2 #811 11:59AM
Oh ya! - Melli_mo  506.1 #419 6:45AM
I loved this ride but the wait was always over 2 hours or it wasn't working. No fast passes. And it was a short ride but so fun. - DisneyBrideยฐOยฐ  448.9 #490 7:11AM
I did. in liked them. i remember alot of caps flying off. - jaysmom  11.5 #10066 7:15AM

Wow i just watched video as well..very loud..wonder if this is kimda the first "fst track" at WDW....i.waited n line for two hrs for tht an it was lame...it wasnt even fast - akmouser73  139.1 #2899 11:46AM

Frickin OSHA - CM_Shadowgamer  2515.9 #55 9:34PM
Completely wrong type of track for a speed ride. It had its moments of fun, though. - Experiment818  1647.2 #101 9:39PM
I tried twice. Both times it broke down before we got on and we didn't wait. Hubby got to ride it a couple times, said it was bad. - JenAnneWho  300.7 #910 9:43PM
I mean...I understand that safety is a necessity but they simply are not understanding how amazing Disneyland could be without all those pesky rules... - ktkakes  331.6 #738 9:45PM
i got to ride once, i waited 5 hours but i had a blast. very ;long wait, super short ride. wish they could fix and bring back - NeverlandClub  390.6 #576 9:46PM
I remember riding it once after waiting 90 minutes in line. And I remember not being impressed. - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 9:55PM
Rode it a few times it was a cool concept but under imagineered... BRING BACK the PEOPLE MOVER and put the rockets back where they belong hahahaha - Disneylanddad702  467.1 #464 10:12PM
Yeah, its ridiculous that the rockets were placed where they are, when there is empty space not being used for anything. Put the rockets back up top, paint them white again, do something with the track to make it compatible with another vehicle type, and then utilize the space out front for something similar to the Maliboomer. - Alicewhoareyou  2550.5 #53 10:19PM
Don't hold back Alice!! Lol - donnievegas  1132.7 #160 11:10PM
lol, only once in a while Donnie! haha - Alicewhoareyou  2550.5 #53 12:12AM
I remember going on and hating the line because it was always long - drktink  29.8 #6003 11:04PM
Don't hold back Alice!! Lol - donnievegas  1132.7 #160 11:10PM
We only went a couple times while it was there. We never went on it. Most of the time it wasn't running and when it was the line was insane and it would turn into you'd be in line for an hour or two and have the ride break down while you were in line. I always wondered what it was like but never got to find out. - Autoalice  161.4 #2545 11:11PM
I was lucky enough to try them. I really enjoyed them. - proudcanuck  478.6 #445 11:57PM
Rode them a couple of times.  The ride was just alright, but I enjoyed the noise that the ride vehicles made and the neon lights made for a cool look all across the track in Tomorrowland, especially at night. - nelsonzz  428.8 #511 12:00AM
lol, only once in a while Donnie! haha - Alicewhoareyou  2550.5 #53 12:12AM
Sorry, but I gotta say I hated them. They also ruined two of my favorite attractions to put them in. Peoplemover(which I just got to ride at WDW still cool magnetron propulsion) and America the Beautiful circlevision 360 movie. - Boodad12  77.1 #4005 12:30AM
I went on them once! I have a vague memory of the ride, but I vividly remember the line. Of all my Disney memories from that visit, that line stands out. Lol - missbexx  211.6 #1852 12:45AM
