did anyone here ever ride the rocket rods? just curious cuz i dont remember them..it says they malfunctioned so much they just shut it down after two yrs. - quick desc.
1998?2000, Rocket Rods A short-lived attempt at a thrill ride using the massive supportive infrastructure and track left from the people mover track
I did. I remember waiting in line forever then it was over and i was thinking,"that's it? " - Melli_mo

I ditto this. "That's it?" and "They took out people mover for this?" - alankeno 57.4 #3607 7:24AM
I felt the same way. Spent more time in line then on the ride. - Diznimom 211.8 #1456 10:52AM
It was a cool idea in concept, but in real life it was terrible. Not adding banked turns ruined the entire experience due to having to slow way down to make a turn. That and the fact it was always breaking down sealed it's fate. I also despised the fact they took out 2 attractions to set it up. - shadowgamer

In addition to this info...I've read that they looked into re-doing it in some form by putting more money into it...but would have to add ladders for emergency exits to get down off the platforms and Disney thought that would clutter up and ruin the look of Tomorrowland. Not sure how accurate this info is, but it does make sense for newer safety regulations. - ktkakes 325.2 #502 9:33PM
I mean...I understand that safety is a necessity but they simply are not understanding how amazing Disneyland could be without all those pesky rules... - ktkakes 325.2 #502 9:45PM
I once rode them...it was pretty cool...and fast... - Disneyrockstar

I liked them, but they broke down often. And I saw the back of one catch on fire when they were testing the ride once. Kind of a bad sign! - Mimmy

They did break down often but it was a great ride while they lasted. - ace4579

I totally remember it being the longest wait ever!! And super short ride, but it was fun! - littleone
240.5 #1108 8:18AM
It was a fun ride but like others have said, the payoff wasn't really worth the wait. Probably a ride that was much better on paper than how it turned out... - CVDisneyland
256.9 #934 8:24AM
I remember them. I loved it. But agreed the amount of time you waited in line wasn't worth how short the ride was. - iluvdisney89
49.1 #3773 8:29AM
never rode them, but being on a track that isn't banked around the corners makes for a more gentle ride and not as thrilling - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

I was lucky enough to ride them in 2000, on a good day that they did not break down. - AshleyLynn22

Never had a chance to ride it. Every time I was there, it was either under construction, or broken. They need something else up there... something that WORKS. *LOL* - ThatKimberly
335.2 #450 10:37AM
Close as I got was the line, it broke down so we gave up - lisaw

That's and awesome pic! - JessicaRabbit33
667.9 #156 10:40AM
To me, the worst thing was how incredibly loud the ride was. So no matter where you were outside in Tomorrowland, you had to tolerate the very loud noise they made. - Bo22
331.1 #468 11:02AM
I can't really say I've been on this ride because it broke down on me when I entered the first room. I waited maybe a little over 2 hours and had to walk off the ride no later than 1 minute into the ride. That was the only time I was able to ride it :/ - SorcererD91
476.1 #251 11:03AM
Ok I just rode the rocket rods via you tube lol and yes it was loud - lisaw

Just once it was like 30 seconds I liked waiting in the inside though I think they had an old people mover car. I'm not sure - princessVanessa

That is exactly why I will not wait longer then 25 mins for a ride. - Lelundrial 341.0 #428 11:16AM
I also waited 3 hours for that ride. It broke down a lot! - leanne8507
4.9 #10596 11:27AM
I was thinking it would be cool to turn that ride into a wall-e ride or put it back to people mover. Seems like a waste of space. Do something with it. ;-) - LynniePooh

Let's write an say" bring back the people mover"... - jammingjoe
22.2 #4871 11:58AM
I rode it on my first trip to Disneyland. After it was gone, I thought I was crazy for remembering riding a fast ride through tomorrowland cuz I was told that it was the Peoplemover track and that it was slow! - Sheilamo
318.2 #529 11:59AM
I loved this ride but the wait was always over 2 hours or it wasn't working. No fast passes. And it was a short ride but so fun. - DisneyBride°O°

Completely wrong type of track for a speed ride. It had its moments of fun, though. - Experiment818
1598.0 #47 9:39PM
I tried twice. Both times it broke down before we got on and we didn't wait. Hubby got to ride it a couple times, said it was bad. - JenAnneWho

846.9 #108 9:55PM
Rode it a few times it was a cool concept but under imagineered... BRING BACK the PEOPLE MOVER and put the rockets back where they belong hahahaha - Disneylanddad702
401.7 #330 10:12PM
Yeah, its ridiculous that the rockets were placed where they are, when there is empty space not being used for anything. Put the rockets back up top, paint them white again, do something with the track to make it compatible with another vehicle type, and then utilize the space out front for something similar to the Maliboomer. - Alicewhoareyou
536.0 #209 10:19PM
Don't hold back Alice!! Lol - donnievegas 1127.5 #72 11:10PM
lol, only once in a while Donnie! haha - Alicewhoareyou 536.0 #209 12:12AM
I remember going on and hating the line because it was always long - drktink
26.8 #4538 11:04PM
We only went a couple times while it was there. We never went on it. Most of the time it wasn't running and when it was the line was insane and it would turn into you'd be in line for an hour or two and have the ride break down while you were in line. I always wondered what it was like but never got to find out. - Autoalice
135.7 #2509 11:11PM
I was lucky enough to try them. I really enjoyed them. - proudcanuck
476.4 #250 11:57PM
Rode them a couple of times. The ride was just alright, but I enjoyed the noise that the ride vehicles made and the neon lights made for a cool look all across the track in Tomorrowland, especially at night. - nelsonzz
401.3 #331 12:00AM
Sorry, but I gotta say I hated them. They also ruined two of my favorite attractions to put them in. Peoplemover(which I just got to ride at WDW still cool magnetron propulsion) and America the Beautiful circlevision 360 movie. - Boodad12
72.4 #3372 12:30AM
I went on them once! I have a vague memory of the ride, but I vividly remember the line. Of all my Disney memories from that visit, that line stands out. Lol - missbexx
