I've not used the GCH entrance @ 10:00am before, I overheard you can't use this entrance w/o a room key. I just walked through with my headphones on as if I didn't hear the CM say this to the group before me. Is this new?

Sometimes the first 30 min of entry are for hotel guests only. If it's not busy though, they will usually let you go in if no hotel guests are waiting. - Mimmy  1442.3 #118 12:03PM
When we used that entrance at opening they have always asked for our key - PrincessDuckie  905.1 #202 1:51PM
It pretty much depends on who's working over there. If it's the old grumpy man Chappy, good luck. And no, that's not why I'm not a fan of his... - 415beachgirl  475.6 #447 2:03PM
My friend and I entered through the GCH last weekend, and we were not hotel guests. We were able to enter, but we had Chappy inspect out bags and wow was he thorough. I had to open my wallet and cosmetic bag, and remove everything from my backpack. My friend had to do the same as well. - PonyGrrl  275.4 #1107 2:06PM
At opening you need a room key. Other times like later in the day you don't need one. - ImAlwaysCrazy  674.5 #297 10:52AM
This is great info, I didn't know anyone could use it after opening. Thank you! - flukefan  270.5 #1158 1:08PM
I've been told before I needed to wait an hour after the park opens to enter without a room key. It all depends on the CM working. - EpicDio  460.3 #473 12:04PM
The other day we went to that entrance around 4 pm. I saw the sign that said you needed room key, but they didn't ask for one. There was no line. - B_Ryee  5.1 #18301 1:04PM

I've used that entrance many times without issue. It has always been later in the day though - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #197 1:08PM
Thx, really no written policy 30min or 1hr. I can't think of why I would want to enter at the main gate of DCA only to walk back to GRR. - Mikey1228  27.5 #6238 1:46PM
It's really a hit and miss thing. When busy and not a hotel guest be prepared if they so no. Otherwise go for it. My policy is be polite and courteous and good things happen. - splashphotoCM  885.6 #206 1:50PM

Does anyone besides me remember the original side entrance to DCA for PP and DH guests, before they realized that everyone could make it through GC without getting lost? I loved it.  Regular type gate, much easier for CM's, and it was a little out of the way, so it was never mobbed.  I know they closed it partly because of staffing, and then it stayed that way because of security (post 9/11). - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 2:37PM
