For my photog friends. I want to get an external flash, and another lens before our trip in September to WDW. I have a t1i canon rebel. Suggestions? Thanks! 😃

I say a telephoto for close ups of shows and parades but thats just me - shadowgamer  1954.3 #37 10:04AM
We have that camera too. I love it! It does a great job, nice and light and I don't have to worry too much about taking it to the parks. - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2575.9 #22 10:13AM
It's a great camera, and I'll be honest I'm still learning about it and all the things it can do. I love it and want to make the most of this trip and our photos! 😊 - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:17AM
Same here! But I'm too ADD for that manual. I'm trying to get MrSIC to read it and give me the run down. Haha. - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2575.9 #22 10:21AM
SIC when I have time I read up as much as I can on it. Then I test it out on Gabriel. It's just finding the time that's the hard part. Lol. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:26AM
True, it is all about finding the time. I just wish I had such a cute little subject to practice one as him. Can't believe he's turning one! 😊 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2575.9 #22 10:45AM
I can't either. I'm sure in time you'll get your lil subject. God is good and I know you'll be an amazing mom one day! Are you coming on Sunday? We'll be at the parks at 11. We're meeting at the new holiday area by coke corner. We're going to ride kid rides. I can't tell you how fast it goes by! - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 11:08AM
@PrettyPixie- try this, it's a link for a 50mm canon lens from amazon. http://tinyurl.com/89dshn2 - GreenLantern  648.9 #164 10:37AM
I like the versatility of a zoom lense. This way I don't have to carry extra lenses and equipment. External flashes are great but be careful if mounting to the hot shoe. I suggest a bracket with detachable arm. Filters are a must for dramatic effects.  - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 11:22AM
I currently have the 35-80 that came with my Canon Rebel and a 75-300, but this one isn't good if you want to shoot close or portraits. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 1:39PM
What lenses do you currently have? - shadowgamer  1954.3 #37 9:58AM
I thought you weren't supposed to use a flash. Now I'm all confused and stuff 😳🌀 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2575.9 #22 10:03AM
Depends on where you are. In general Disney is so lit up youll never need one at the parks with proper settings - shadowgamer  1954.3 #37 10:06AM
I meant for photos of us, not so much the rides, I'm not that person SIC. Lol - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:08AM
18-55 mm. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:00AM
Budget for both? Are you looking for toy, tilt shift, telephoto, wide-angle or prime lens? - tina  1154.7 #70 10:05AM
Like $500ish, maybe more. It just depends on how much I want it. Lol. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:17AM
$500 is for the flash alone, just FYI. - tina  1154.7 #70 10:24AM
Yeah I saw some for cheaper and a friend here is also selling hers so I was thinking about buying it from her. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:34AM
Hers is a 580 and she is selling it for $275 cause she's had it 2 years. there's nothing wrong with it tho. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:37AM
I was looking into Telephoto but I don't want to have to bring a tripod. I've heard that quite a few of the telephotos for Canon have problems focusing well without them. So I'm undecided. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:07AM
Nahh.. just work on being steady and you should be fine. It really just depends on your budget. I say skip the flash and put both the money towards a great telephoto. - tina  1154.7 #70 10:15AM
Thank Tina, I have plenty of time to think about everything but I wanted friends advice not reviews. I read a bunch so I was starting to get uneasy about it. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:20AM
Well if u want to take more family shots I'd say yr 18-55 mm should be fine. Since telephoto is more for up close shots, you'll have to stand back a bit to get the family in. Lol But maybe just look into an external flash. - GreenLantern  648.9 #164 10:21AM
Is there a camera shop near you? See if you can rent any by you. Check out bhphotovideo.com too because I think they do a rental program as well. It's so hard to just tell people what to buy until they really try it on their own. I've bought/returned quite a bit of equipment simply based on reviews and it just never works out. - tina  1154.7 #70 10:22AM
I would've never thought about renting it. Thanks Tina. I'll have to look into it. I'm sort of on the fence about which to get. So maybe I'll skip on the flash for now. I'll most likely get the 50mm. I want good photos of the kids (bee and lil yeti) more than anything. Plus the lens I have is descent. I mean it does the job and takes good photos so it should be fine. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:29AM
yeah depending on where you are there should be a rental shop. if you are local there's fullerton camera's that you can rent. the 50mm 1.8 is nice for $100ish and i don't regret it at all. but my next big lens i might try before i buy because there's so many choices. - chris.  2507.3 #24 10:36AM
We're in Tucson, used to be local. Thanks tho. I'll try and find somewhere close. I think I'm going to buy the 50mm and some other accessories for our camera. I'll probably hold off on the flash for now and telephoto. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:44AM
yeah it really depends on what you want to use the len's for mainly.  i have a 50mm 1.8 and a 30mm 1.4, i love them both in their own ways.  i'm currently looking into my next len's most likely a telephoto or a fun lens like a fisheye maybe. - chris.  2507.3 #24 10:14AM
I was actually considering a 50mm for family shots. Since I already have the 18-55mm. I want to get filters too... At least a UV. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:15AM
Nifty-fifty, hollerrrr. Have you ever thought of getting a super-wide? I ended up selling my 10-20mm to upgrade my other prime, but it was fun as hell to use for a while. - tina  1154.7 #70 10:17AM
oh the 50mm is great for family pictures, you can look through my flickr. i used a 50mm exclusively for the past few months. my set here http://tinyurl.com/7jy3al7 was when i was with my godson all shots are with 50mm. - chris.  2507.3 #24 10:19AM
@tina yeah i really want a super wide angle lens too. - chris.  2507.3 #24 10:20AM
Those look great! I think you just sold me on the 50mm. Sweet. - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:24AM
What are you loosing if you use the 35-80 that came with it and setting it to 50 or 55 and shoot. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 1:45PM
Oh Tina have you gotten those lenses for iPhone? How are they? I'm upgrading to 4s in April, so I might get those too. Lol - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:33AM
No, I can't justify that haha. It seems fun, but I'd rather spend the money on real lens. If we weren't budgeting for a wedding, I would've bought something new by now. - tina  1154.7 #70 10:37AM
Oh I understand. I remember planning a wedding. Maybe I'll look into it then. Lol - PrettyPixie  759.2 #132 10:39AM
Wedding?? Avenue can be your DJ. He's booking now! 😏😄 - DisneyFanZoe  1096.8 #75 11:10AM
Wow that's really nice!! - Pinky05  5.6 #9633 10:34AM
Seeing that you have an 18-55 I would think a telephoto or zoom, as fast as you can afford. Im going to presume that your 18-55 is a kit lens and not 1.4 or 1.8, so I would want a fast 50 prime lens at 1.4. That's my .02 - Emelem  5.9 #9160 2:19PM
