CM "hero" story-
This happened on our trip a couple weeks ago. We waited till our last night to get a light-up balloon so our BabyBoo could enjoy it at home. On our last night, I saw a pink Mickey balloon and by the time we got to the CM that had it she was out. She told us to go to city hall and they could find one for us. We did, and they couldn't find one. No big deal, plus the one I saw didn't light up and that's what I wanted anyway. We went back to main street to get a different balloon and all the balloon CMs were gone. We went all the way to fantasyland and couldn't find them. We were told to go back to city hall by a CM in the park and they could have someone bring us one. When we got back to City Hall the CM could not have been more rude about it. I was totally bummed. BabyBoo loves balloons. However, I was more upset about the way the lady treated us, not that we couldn't get a balloon. We were about to walk out of the gates and there were two CMs saying goodbye to everyone. I thought I would give it one last shot, even if it was just someone to listen to me and offer moral support. I told the lady CM what happened and she was so nice about it. She said, "This is Disneyland and we are to make magic happen." She told the other CM what happened (CM Lamar) and he told us to wait there and he'd be back. A few minutes later he came back and said "Your balloon is on its way!" We shook CM Lamar's hand and the other lady's hand too(forgot her name) and thanked them immensely. We were glad that we got our balloon, but more glad that they cared about making us feel better and ending our trip on a good note. One week later, BabyBoo took her first steps because she wanted to get to her Mickey balloon!

I think I told this story already but not too detailed. After I proposed to my gf, later that night we went to the mad hatter shop to put our names and "just engaged" on her 2012 mickey ears. The cm politely told us that because they're sold out of that hat he has to tell us that if the machine messed up they can't replace the hat because they're sold out. This freaked out my gf I mean fiancé. He did his best to assure her that it should be fine. When he took the hat he said "don't worry about the embroidering." We stepped to the side to wait and my fiancé looked at me and said I guess we pay after its done. I said I thought we paid before, maybe it's free. After a few minutes the cm said "well I'm off" and when he walked by us he said "ur hats almost done, bye." when the hat was done we realized the cm did the hat for free. I looked at my fiancé and said "I wish I knew the cm was doing the hat for free before he left so I could properly thank him." It was a really nice jester and it made the day even more special. - MrYoda

I understood that it was late and she was tired, but a simple "I'm sorry" would have been better. I try to be understanding. I worked in customer service before and I know it's not easy. - Fanatic4Disney 258.0 #930 9:05PM

Years ago at WDW - it was our last day and we hadn't seen the big parade at Magic Kingdom. Got there super early and got awesome curb seats. Mom & one son went to get a drink - other son went to get food. I was holding our seats and a CM came to say I wasn't allowed to be there (I was near the wheelchair place, but I had asked it was okay and a CM had said yes... of course, he was no where to be seen). I was freaked out because they wanted me to move - my family was no where to be seen - and the parade was about to start and every good seat was taken. What to do.... CRY! I was blubbering like a fool when a kind CM saw me and listened to my sad story. She then waited with me for everyone to return, and took us over to the VIP section. Who else was in it that day... the surviving actors who played the "munchkins" from the original Wizard of Oz movie! Best parade ever! And yes, I wrote a letter of appreciation to WDW! - msdizmaui

WOW! That is one awesome day for sure. I probably would have cried too. I always get emotional on our last day and I would have hated to be seperated from my fam. - Fanatic4Disney 258.0 #930 9:54PM

Wanted balloon, balloon CMs all done for the night, rude CM at CIty Hall, Hero CM right before we walked out, daughter took her first steps because of said balloon. I tried to make my original post shorter, but I wasn't feelin' it. Hope this helps ;-) - Fanatic4Disney 258.0 #930 11:09PM

Yesterday my 10 yr old daughter saw a pin she really really liked on a CM however she forgot her lanyard to pin trade. My daughter then told the CM maybe next time I come you will still have it. As we stepped away the CM was nice enough to say here you go princess, this is we're the magic happens! The smile on her face was priceless! - LizzzyBelle

You know what's sad?? We technically can get in huge trouble for that??? Some cast members though don't care we just love our guests and want them to be happy - cmdlgurl 255.5 #954 9:11PM
Wow! Didn't know that. Some CMs go above and beyond the call of duty. - Fanatic4Disney 258.0 #930 9:17PM

In my opinion, the CMs at WDW do not seem to have the same quality of "magic" as DL. I have chalked it up to east coast charisma :) But there are the select few around😉 - TinkerAli

Years ago we went to dl for Xmas and my youngest was upset cause she didn't get the chance to see any of the princesses up close due to long line at the princess experience. That night about 1/2 hour before light parade was starting a cm was by us directing traffic and setting up the path way for the parade and we told her of our day and she actually set it up to have a autographed pic of snow white waiting for us at customer service! The pic was so awesome and meant so much to us and we will remember the cm forever! - Beej

That is awesome! I find some of the cranky CMrs in city hall. It's weird but I don't like going in there for that reason! I am so glad a CM or 2 did the right thing! - SupremeLeader
394.0 #341 1:20AM
that is because many CM's don't like to work in there because that is where people go to complain about things and some people can be horrible to them, my brother and i had the misfortune of being near a couple of these serial complainers at the tram stop Christmas night. Everyone in line tried to lighten the mood but they were tough on everyone with their constant complaining. I think if i had to deal with people like that all night I might be grumpy too, though most CM's keep smiling! - secretagentangel 679.2 #152 1:50AM
Next visit, go in to city hall to compliment something or a cast member. Then they are a whole lot nicer. The compliment goes into their files, plus it's always nice to hear you made someone's day. I try to compliment at least one person who went out of their way to make the day special. - Seacow 427.6 #296 6:43AM
