I know everybody hates the "is it busy" post, but I have a question. How is the crowd index calculated? Yesterday it said 85 but was more like a 95 and today is supposed to be a 92. That doesn't seem right. Does anybody know?
It's an estimation based on data MW has collected over the last 2 years. Still being adjusted and worked on. Depending on what day of the week it was or the weather a year ago it can be off but is a general guide for what the crowds may be like. - Coaster

The index is calculated just like NFL quarterback ratings. ... Seriously, tho, a good general rule of thumb is this: The more hours the parks are open, the greater the crowd. Go on a day Disneyland is open from 10 am to 6 pm, and you can own the joint. Go on a day when it's open till midnight, and expect crazy-long lines and every other person on this app to ask, "Is it crowded today?" - gerardlim57

It's an estimation there is no exact formula for it. Check wait times and surf for photo's of the park from MWer that are taking live shots. That's a good way to get an idea what the crowd levels are like. - vincentchase
