Hey guys! I was just wondering about how intense Star Tours is now? No one in my family ever had a problem with the original, but I've heard some disturbing stories about people having motion sickness on the new one. Also, my mom is prone to migraines. Do you think the 3d might give her some trouble? Thanks guys!! :)

I had migraines during the original. Eating right before was a bad idea. Somehow, I don't get migraines on the update. It varies from person to person. So, maybe dramamine before just in case? - Starr  550.3 #370 9:06PM
Yeah, everyone is different. I am just the opposite--no problems with the old, but I felt really nauseous and felt strange after the new version. I think it's the 3D. I should also mention that I'm prone to migraines and the only other ride I've gotten nauseous from is the tea cups. It was bad enough that I'm just not interested in riding it again, but Dramamine might work. Ginger is also supposed to help motion sickness. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 10:13PM
It's a lot smoother than what I remember but it might depend on where you go on your trip. Try to stay close to front and center as possible and you guys will be fine. Have fun! - djbreakdown  573.2 #353 9:06PM
I'm prone to motion sickness, but can ride a this without much problem. Wouldn't do it twice in a row, however. Migraines I can't say, but would think it wouldn't be an issue. - Disneycrazymom  137.8 #2921 9:06PM
The ride actually seems smoother now than before. Unless you are the Rebel Spy and Darth Vader gets ahold of you, then there are no guarantees... - beltashazar  230.3 #1604 9:12PM
I always get a migrane on captain EO and on the muppets show in DCA but in star tours I haven't had one. - PRINC3SSL3AH  225.6 #1657 9:13PM
sitting at the end near the door helps. - toph  2418.2 #60 9:15PM
Funny, I used to get motion sickness all the time and now not so much, but I also try to stay hydrated. I can do Star Tours 3X in a row with no problems. This 3D is better than the Capt EO which still gives me a headache. Hope this helps - SUUZinOCretiredPLAID  1036.1 #177 9:15PM
I know people who have gotten motion sickness on the new one but it was after riding it back to back to back. I am prone to migraines and I never got one from either. Although I believe my are triggered by food - KissDclown  1089.1 #167 9:17PM
I did a back to back last week and felt like vomiting. - CptKirk  766.3 #245 9:19PM
I take Dramamine. Death star kills me! Ugh. - SueBayou  2019.0 #78 9:25PM
3d gives me migraines too, but doesn't last long enough to give me one while the muppets or bugs life that last longer do. I say try it once and see and if it's all good go again!! - akpoppins  263.8 #1224 9:27PM
For me, I never had problems with it before the refurb but now, i noticed it makes me a little natious :\ and nothing else makes me feel like that. - mochamistie  273.2 #1136 9:28PM
I usually never get motion sickness on rides, but the new Star Tours made me feel a little sick....it didn't bother my kids or hubby though. - alvarez415  49.7 #4797 9:34PM
Its TOO HOT sometimes inside...that kinda makes me sick...but other than that its ok. - Belony  146.7 #2761 9:34PM
Only ride in Disneyland that makes me get nauseas. At the end of the ride i just thought ... i waited 2hrs for this? So not worth it. IMO - ScarfGirl  644.8 #312 9:34PM
I had trouble on the old one, but not the new version. And i ride the swinging gondolas on th WOD - lisacat  254.9 #1306 9:35PM
This is one ride that makes me sick :( I can't handle the 3d and the motion. I even tried sitting by the door. I was on the center row right next to the door and I couldn't wait for it to be over! I had to go get a drink of sprite when it was over to calm my stomach down. - dhBelle04  284.2 #1024 9:38PM
I actually enjoyed the older version. It was a bit more jagged and bumpier. This new update is smoother. Not hating it but just comparing. - elmickeyman  215.0 #1802 9:42PM
Males me sick- - LaPearleNoir  1789.6 #94 9:43PM

The older one never gave me problems but when I rode the updated star tours i became really nauseous, the rest of my family didn't experience any motion sickness, just depends on the person I guess. - Princessana08  69.9 #4165 9:48PM
Thanks for asking and all the great feedback. I've been wondering the same thing as my 9 year old gets terrible motion sickness but wants to go on it sooo bad. - bugsmom1208  221.4 #1714 9:53PM
I've heard that the third row is the pivot point and so will not make you as sick. But I still get sick and feel on the verge of a migraine after riding it. So now I avoid this ride. But the last time I also took the glasses off & that helped a lot. - Pintraderswife  468.3 #461 9:54PM
If I start to feel dizzy on this ride, I just close my eyes and look down or away from the screen, that seems to help me. - kss4tink  218.0 #1760 9:57PM
Just don't do California Screamin' three times in a row. I found out the hard way that I shouldn't have done that. - ima-pirateswife  745.0 #260 10:00PM
I've felt sick every time I've been on it. It depends on which sequence you get as to wether it's worth it. - LillyBelle  77.1 #4004 10:00PM
I get pretty sick on it if I ride it in the morning, especially after coffee. If I ride it in the evening (after a glass of wine or two) it's much better. πŸ˜ƒ - Cinderella-princess  11.9 #9893 10:00PM
Dramamine! I have to on ST or else it's bad news bears :X - Jacqueline  580.0 #349 10:01PM
Doesn't the Dramamine make you sleepy. I felt really sick the one time I rode it. Didn't have any trouble with the old ride. - kskating  689.8 #287 10:26PM

I'm pretty good when it comes to motion sickness and this one I was a bit shooken up afterwards. I say ride it, and if you get icky just close your eyes. Make sure you have water handy afterwards :) - AshleyLynn22  791.2 #233 10:15PM
I didn't notice a major difference... - msdizmaui  716.8 #270 10:18PM
I usually sit in front row because of scooters needing to go up the exit. You can keep you feet on the floor and I would never get sick. Since we always go with the scooter we never got to see the Que so the last time we went we got FPs and entered the regular que and were placed in the back row. My legs hung and I felt real sick. So it will always be front row for me from mow on. - ImAlwaysCrazy  674.5 #297 10:18PM
My family never has a problem with motion sickness but we rode it one time after the upgrade and we all got nauseated! Sadly we haven't gone on again! - Littlecuppycake  185.3 #2178 10:21PM
For me, I think it depends which planets you visit during the ride. Some aren't as motion sickening compared to others. - SorcererD91  2906.6 #45 10:23PM
Both of us carsick. - NurseDisney  56.9 #4510 10:24PM
I always get horrible motion sickness on it. It helps me if I eat crackers and drink water while I'm waiting in line. - vsalinas15  243.3 #1438 10:25PM

I heard about people not feeling well on this...so I stayed away from this ride...the first one I was ok...just sit in the back...I also didn't feel so hot in captain eo... - islandgirl58  452.9 #18 10:31PM
I rode The new ST about a month ago, and felt motion sickness during it. My husband who never gets motion sickness, and is a thrill seeker, felt sick too :( I never felt that way on the old one - NurseKatey  325.9 #768 10:32PM
I think it all depends on where you sit. Front row you have more stability and your feet can touch the floor. Although you can still see the 3d its not the greatest in front row. Back row no stability. Im tall but my feet cant touch the floor. That's where I get sick. But the 3d is much better in the back row. - ImAlwaysCrazy  674.5 #297 10:50PM
Rode both old and new many times and never had a problem, until last week. Avoid the front row! - onceuponatime  172.6 #2366 10:57PM
