Hey guys! I was just wondering about how intense Star Tours is now? No one in my family ever had a problem with the original, but I've heard some disturbing stories about people having motion sickness on the new one. Also, my mom is prone to migraines. Do you think the 3d might give her some trouble? Thanks guys!! :)
I had migraines during the original. Eating right before was a bad idea. Somehow, I don't get migraines on the update. It varies from person to person. So, maybe dramamine before just in case? - Starr

Yeah, everyone is different. I am just the opposite--no problems with the old, but I felt really nauseous and felt strange after the new version. I think it's the 3D. I should also mention that I'm prone to migraines and the only other ride I've gotten nauseous from is the tea cups. It was bad enough that I'm just not interested in riding it again, but Dramamine might work. Ginger is also supposed to help motion sickness. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.1 #288 10:13PM
It's a lot smoother than what I remember but it might depend on where you go on your trip. Try to stay close to front and center as possible and you guys will be fine. Have fun! - djbreakdown

I'm prone to motion sickness, but can ride a this without much problem. Wouldn't do it twice in a row, however. Migraines I can't say, but would think it wouldn't be an issue. - Disneycrazymom

The ride actually seems smoother now than before. Unless you are the Rebel Spy and Darth Vader gets ahold of you, then there are no guarantees... - beltashazar

I always get a migrane on captain EO and on the muppets show in DCA but in star tours I haven't had one. - PRINC3SSL3AH

Funny, I used to get motion sickness all the time and now not so much, but I also try to stay hydrated. I can do Star Tours 3X in a row with no problems. This 3D is better than the Capt EO which still gives me a headache. Hope this helps - SUUZinOC

I know people who have gotten motion sickness on the new one but it was after riding it back to back to back. I am prone to migraines and I never got one from either. Although I believe my are triggered by food - KissDclown

3d gives me migraines too, but doesn't last long enough to give me one while the muppets or bugs life that last longer do. I say try it once and see and if it's all good go again!! - akpoppins

This is one ride that makes me sick :( I can't handle the 3d and the motion. I even tried sitting by the door. I was on the center row right next to the door and I couldn't wait for it to be over! I had to go get a drink of sprite when it was over to calm my stomach down. - dhBelle04

I actually enjoyed the older version. It was a bit more jagged and bumpier. This new update is smoother. Not hating it but just comparing. - elmickeyman

The older one never gave me problems but when I rode the updated star tours i became really nauseous, the rest of my family didn't experience any motion sickness, just depends on the person I guess. - Princessana08

I've heard that the third row is the pivot point and so will not make you as sick. But I still get sick and feel on the verge of a migraine after riding it. So now I avoid this ride. But the last time I also took the glasses off & that helped a lot. - Pintraderswife

If I start to feel dizzy on this ride, I just close my eyes and look down or away from the screen, that seems to help me. - kss4tink

I get pretty sick on it if I ride it in the morning, especially after coffee. If I ride it in the evening (after a glass of wine or two) it's much better. 😃 - Cinderella-princess

Doesn't the Dramamine make you sleepy. I felt really sick the one time I rode it. Didn't have any trouble with the old ride. - kskating 378.8 #364 10:26PM
I'm pretty good when it comes to motion sickness and this one I was a bit shooken up afterwards. I say ride it, and if you get icky just close your eyes. Make sure you have water handy afterwards :) - AshleyLynn22

I usually sit in front row because of scooters needing to go up the exit. You can keep you feet on the floor and I would never get sick. Since we always go with the scooter we never got to see the Que so the last time we went we got FPs and entered the regular que and were placed in the back row. My legs hung and I felt real sick. So it will always be front row for me from mow on. - ImAlwaysCrazy

I rode The new ST about a month ago, and felt motion sickness during it. My husband who never gets motion sickness, and is a thrill seeker, felt sick too :( I never felt that way on the old one - NurseKatey

I think it all depends on where you sit. Front row you have more stability and your feet can touch the floor. Although you can still see the 3d its not the greatest in front row. Back row no stability. Im tall but my feet cant touch the floor. That's where I get sick. But the 3d is much better in the back row. - ImAlwaysCrazy
646.5 #171 10:50PM
Rode both old and new many times and never had a problem, until last week. Avoid the front row! - onceuponatime
