Alrighty- this will be over fast. I go to beauty school and because of that I get treated like I'm a stupid person sometimes. It drives me bonkers! I was buying some makeup sponges yesterday and the cashier asked about them so I told him I was getting them because I go to beauty school and his answer: "Oh? Did you fail highschool or something?" I said no and he goes "Well everyone I know who goes to Beauty School is either a highschool drop-out or failed in college." And this isn't the first time it's been assumed that I failed in the education department! I had a 3.9 GPA in high school, and got my G.E.D. a year early so I could move onto college. When I went to college for a year my GPA was 3.7, and then I decided it wasn't for me and went to beauty school! I'm a smart kid! People need to get over it! Sorry, no more venting. Ok... I'm done.
That kinda sucks. It is TV shows like King of the Hill Luanna that gives you guys bad names. I admire make up artists they use the medium very well:) My close GF was on aca-deca smartest kid I knew in my life and decided to do MAC for a long time:) Doesn't matter what people think tell them to Buzzlight year off..... heck at least you are doing the make-up and not the one selling the sponges. - BooEve123

Selling the sponges... Lol - SueBayou 2012.0 #35 12:11PM
I am just saying it takes a lot more skill to utalize those spongers and make beauty that hit a button on a cashier is all. Not that there is anything wrong with Cashiers..... man am I become a Cashier Booly? - BooEve123 800.9 #121 12:13PM
The cashier must not know many people. - MyPark

Ya know what, ignore them. There is a LOT to learn at Beauty College. Unless in the future we ALL go to buzz cuts or hippy style locks, this is an area that will never be replaced by a computer. ::cough cough self checkout:: - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

Also something really nice about doing hair/ make-up is getting that creativity out- which is so important :) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1837.7 #43 11:52AM
Also, I'd like to see this cashier take my biology, histology, dermatology, and safety and sanitation laws test.
And the main reason I chose the job is that I needed something with a creative side! - Lkphair 166.3 #2103 11:58AM
Yeah, hairstylists can get a bad rap for being dumb. Just ignore those stupid people for being so ignorant. I personally graduated hs with honors and went to college three years before I decided to go to beauty school!! Most of my hairstylists friends have college degrees! Keep your head up and remember why you wanted to be part of the industry! Good luck in school! I had so much fun in beauty school! - JenInWonderland

I was reading your reply, and I agree. There is so much anatomy and histology involving hair. I dont even know what a makeup sponge is or how to put on makeup lol. Plus makeup/hair involve a steady hand, which many people don't have. Obviously homegirl is very ignorant . - Madi

I've got a lot of respect for make up artists and hair stylists. That's something I am terrible at and wish I could do. It does require thinking and brains. So ignore the haters. I know all us girls appreciate you guys a lot! :) - Jillian

My grandma was a beautician. And she's the smartest person I know. I'm just thankful for beauticians. They make all us ugly folk beautiful. - MagicalCaprice
