Hey MW. I know I just seem to pop in randomly, but I come asking a major favor. See, back in September my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. They removed it, and this past Monday, the 28th, he went in for surgery to put the port in so they could start chemo. When he was on the table, he had a stroke. After many tests, they found the artery to his brain is blocked. They have him on medication to clear it up, opting for that over surgery for right now. He is mostly paralyzed on his left side and is at a hospital that is going to be teaching him to walk again. He is really down, and I am a miserable wreck and right now my family just needs all the love and prayers you have to offer. Please.

I just got back from seeing him. He was more awake than the past couple days and his girlfriend was there, too. He was joking around about missing the cats and trying to convince me to smuggle one of them in to the hospital. He can move his left arm a little, but is having trouble with his left leg. He had me bring him his laptop so tomorrow he should be back to his usual Facebook all day ways. Please keep good thoughts coming! - Gummy

Went to see him again today. He was sitting up in a wheelchair with his computer in front of him. He was checking Facebook and then we had a nice 30 minute Skype call with my mom. He is talking a lot better and can move his left hand a few inches. Every day at about 2pm he has an hour or so of physical therapy to help him relearn how to use his left side. - Gummy

My dad had a stroke too it was 2 years in july It just depends on where in the brain the stroke happened If I think back to where he was the day after the stroke it was really bad. In the end all he has is a slight slur not bad. Hang in there cause time and rehab should improve his condition. - Dizkid

I talked to his main nurse today and since his progress is moving so slowly and since he has been at that hospital for almost three weeks now, his girlfriend and I, with the help of the nurse are going to find a nursing home that has beds for Medicaid patients. So he won't be comin home for a while. He has no sight what so ever in his left eye, and still cannot use his left leg. His left arm can move a little bit and they say he is also going to need speech therapy. Please keep good thoughts and prayers coming this way. - Gummy

He is now in a nursing home to recieve further rehab care. We are hoping he is home by spring at the latest. Tomorrow morning before work Leah and I are going to take all the presents under the tree and spend Christmas morning with him. - Gummy

It is clear they have him in speech therapy because he is so much easier to understand and it is so hard to get him to shush. I can't go see him before work on some days because I never leave with enough time to get there. He should be home towards the end of March! - Gummy

Well, he is still in the nursing home, but he is coming home before Christmas. I start learning how to help him move when we get back from California. He can talk, especially now that he has dentures again. He can pull his left leg along when someone is supporting his right side. He can hug me with both arms. Making some great progress. - Gummy
