Established in 1958, the Disneyland Candlelight Procession is perhaps the most dramatic and compelling holiday celebration presented in the Park. Featuring church, high school, and college choirs from throughout Southern California, the impressive procession of carolers leaves Sleeping Beauty Castle and proceeds down Main Street, which is illuminated only by the hand-held tapers of the singers. The finale of the procession occurs in Town Square, when the choirs assemble in front of the Main Street Station and, accompanied by a live orchestra, join a special guest narrator in telling the traditional Christmas story in song and word. Through the years, such
respected performers as James Earl Jones, Edward James Olmos, Lou Gossett, Jr., John Wayne, Cary Grant, and Charlton Heston have lent their narrative skills to this remarkable presentation. -
