I personally I'm not a fan of smoking at the parks. I think it just shouldn't be allowed. Specially when kids have to sit on a bench and wait for there parents to finish smoking... What's your opinion on this??
I am not a smoker but i know some people who are. I think it's good that DL has designated smoking areas rather than having people smoke all over the park. I'm sure a kid waiting for their parent to finish smoking is better than either not being able to go to DL at all because smoking wasn't allowed, or a grumpy stressed out parents who isn't able to have their cigarette. I think it's a good compromise. - Jillian

Haha Sooo try! Rather have people be happy at DL than be fruity cause they can't get their nicotine fix. It would suck to go with my fiance if they didn't have them. - NeverlandTink 421.4 #304 1:54PM
As a couple of posters up above, I too was raised in secondhand smoke and now suffer severely every year because of it. It also affects my athletics such as running, etc. I can't even go in close proximity to where someone is smoking and it throws me into fits of coughing. So while I appreciate designated areas, it is still not far enough away from me. I can't even stand being close to a smoker, and their clothes smell just a bad. - MinnieCarman

I agree smoking is the worst habit one can pick up harms them and others. - Darla

If people like to huff and puff in their cancer sticks, so be it. I just wish it didn't bother the rest of us. - ima-pirateswife

It shouldn't be allowed in the park, it's not fair that so many children are exposed to smoke in such a child friendly place. I'm really glad the law was passed about not being able to smoke in a car if a minor is in it! Yay no smokkeeeee! - Madimay

My dad smoked till the day he died two yrs ago (he was only 51), and my hubby used to be a social smoker but stopped because i refused to kiss him after he would. I know i can't stop people from smoking but i would prefer not to be around someone while they smoke or walk by the smoking area with my kids and smell it. - stargoddess120

I do not smoke, but I feel that most of the smoking places are really out of the way. I grew up with parents who smoked in the house, I hated it, but smoking in the park out in the open air is unfortunately better than the kids sitting in a room at home having to deal with it there. - BooEve123

Well said Boo! People should't sweat the small stuff so much. - DisneyDoorite 283.4 #706 2:09PM
I agree with Boo, they are pretty out of the way---and some day they will probably be gone. Just be grateful it's not an addiction you struggle with. - Sweet_Irish_Cream

They need to move the smoking area across from the Matterhorn line a bit further away from the path. Like on that seating area where the little boats used to be. - Polkadobo
372.1 #371 1:55PM
That's where it was and they moved it back for some reason - mike714 334.9 #452 2:08PM
When I went to universal people smoked every where and the smoking areas were right by the walkway. I'm glad Disney hides theres so you don't have to hold your breath as you walk by. I'd rather have this than people sneaking a smoke... Because that's what people would do - SteamboatMinnie

I don't mind the way they have it set up right now, I'm not a fan of smoking but everyone should have the choice. - JerrBear

I think the smoking areas are meant to cater to international guests from places where smoking is not as regulated as in So Cal. :) - Joshcube

Very true! So many smokers abroad!!! At DL Paris, they smoke wherever they want. - ERICKA 491.4 #244 2:00PM

Smoking sucks. That being said, if there was some areas that had a canopy with a serious vent fan, that would help keep the pathways clear of the exhaust. - SorcererBHhaha

I've had the same thought but the park has a lot of international visitors and they don't feel the same about smoking as our culture. WE WILL BE IN THE PARKS AFTER OUR NAP. WHY AM I YELLING? - WeMetAtDisneyLand

I thankfully have not walked into a cloud at smoke at DL. Not only can I not stand the smell, I am on an inhaler. That is the last thing I need to breath in. Our last trip to WDW, they had the worst placement of a smoking area. It was at the only exit of a store. I believe it was the store that is outside that Dinosaur ride in AK. I didn't know that was a smoking area, and walked right into that lung closing stuff. - Lelundrial

I run past those places. I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke. I can feel my white blood cells in my alveoili's going into overdrive clearing that gross clutter. I am very sensitive to cooking smoke too. - HotDiggityDogDaddy

Because of her asthma my mom has always been really sensitive to smoke so I have a learned sensitivity to smoke. - tiggertwin 317.8 #531 2:31PM
well in SC where I live you can smoke in some restarunts still, and you can smoke anywhere in public... Smoking is a lot less restricted here. I went to a amusment park this past summer and people smoked where ever they felt like.. i much prefer the 'smoking areas' DL provides then letting people smoke anywhere they want in the park. - vikkimus

SC, as in South Carolina? Major crop is... - SorcererBHhaha 408.5 #318 2:09PM
lol yes, South Carolina... its not just the fact that SC grows a lot of it... but for some reason SC is very... 'backwards' and the major crop of SC is no longer the main ingredient of cancer sticks... It hasn't been the main crop of SC for a while now... - vikkimus 197.9 #1658 2:13PM
Plus a pretty girl who smokes is an instant turn off to me. I'd rather date Ursula's grandma at that point. - HotDiggityDogDaddy

I don't like when I walk past a smoking section but hey if they want to smoke I'm not here to judge them I get sensitive to smells though good thing they don't smoke other things at DL - princessVanessa
382.5 #352 2:10PM
I don't judge them for smoking. But sometimes those smoking areas look more shady than a forest with 100 foot tall trees. - HotDiggityDogDaddy 1112.2 #74 2:12PM
I've definitely smelled some other things being smoked at DL...not okay to me. - ladylikesdisney 921.5 #95 2:15PM
I hate the Matterhorn smoking area I start coughing a lot and I need water :( other stuff are probably being smoked there @ladydisney since the california laws over here maybe next time if I smell something other than cigs I will report it! - princessVanessa 382.5 #352 2:18PM
Its nasty, I give us Californians about 3-5 more years of having to smell other's bad habits before it's outlawed completely ;) - misskitty

I totally agree. I've seen them with their kid in a stroller in the smoking area. I really hate the ones that walk around smoking. Disgusting - dvcfam4

I consider myself a courteous smoker, I would never light up in Disneyland somewhere where it's not allowed. - MontanaMouse
300.0 #612 2:17PM
At least it's not like the old days of being at Disneyland...there wasn't any designated areas because people could smoke anywhere. I remember standing in line while being surrounded by smokers for an hour at a time. So, I'm OK with the designated areas but it is sad to see the little ones waiting for their parent to finish! - SoCalJean
170.2 #2004 2:28PM
I'm just glad there are designated areas. I don't really understand it though, I used to be a smoker but I would never ever smoke at the happiest place on earth. I mean really? - missgoofy

My husband was a smoker (quit a year ago), but even when he was still smoking he never smoked at Disneyland. He said that he felt awkward with all the little kids around and he did not want to be stared at. Now that he's officially a non-smoker, he notices how even though there are designated areas, you can still smell it when you're walking past the areas. But as long as you're where you're supposed to be when smoking, no one can really complain. - ktkakes

My MIL doesn't smoke at the parks, either! - DLlovingMommy27 238.0 #1135 5:21PM
Nix to nicotine. As long as I don't have to smell it I can live with it. It's their life. You can't fix stupid. - jacdanfan
