so as i was looking at disneylands facebook page i noticed that there was a great deal of people who thought disneyland was a rip off. a one day child ticket 3-9 is 74 and a park hopper 99. and adult tickets 80 and 105. just wanted to know do you think its a rip off and if so what do you think the tickets should cost.
I think they should base the price of a child's ticket on height. If the kid isn't tall enough to ride most of the thrill rides (indie, space, splash, etc) then there should atleast be some sort of discount for that... *kanyeshrug* - rbeezy

That opens up a huge amount of issues... I can see it already. - BCC 4640.6 #5 2:37PM
hmm and i wonder how tall jaysbaby is and if they'd be charged? - toph 2398.6 #26 4:37PM
I really agree with that. I also think they should have adult tickets like that. I know a lot of my family members have major disabilities and can not ride anything but fantasy land rides. They love the magic of Disneyland and wish to spend family time together, but they can't see paying the price to sit do nothing. If it was cheaper, they would have no problem. - jamielynn 138.6 #2465 4:45PM
I say it's a little expensive, but it's a small price to pay for the immeasurable amount of magic that takes place - MJisMM
31.0 #4323 12:20PM
agreed, it's worth every penny to experience so much magic - missgoofy 367.8 #376 12:22PM
I respectfully disagree. Its a lot for a family. - ChloesDadTim 32.6 #4256 12:54PM
thats true Tim, I never thought about families, I usually go alone - MJisMM 31.0 #4323 2:05PM
I agree its worth it but I feel bad for families, especially large ones that can't afford to go. - MissAshley 113.6 #2840 2:17PM
You get what you pay for. Quality is not cheap. - proudcanuck
476.4 #250 12:38PM
Not some of the food. Some are great but others taste cheap - ChloesDadTim 32.6 #4256 1:35PM
I think disneyland is a luctury. For most, its a vacation or a one time thing every few years. So I don't really think its too bad if you look at it that way and if people have passes, its an even better deal. I pay 30 dollars a month and go about 12 to 15 times a month :) I do think that days they are only open like til 6 they should be cheaper. Like October, days they have the Halloween party should be cheaper cause there is no fireworks or fantasmic and they are only open like 8 hours. Makes no sense to pay the same amount on a day that they do both fireworks and fantasmic and are open 16 hours... - kaleighmungo

If it were really cheap think how long the lines would be every day, how the bathrooms would be. You get what you pay for. Think like retail if you want Walmart prices you'll get Walmart quality. You can't get Walmart pices and get a Dooney and Bourke hand bag, just doesn't work that way. I think DL is worth every penny and we appreciate every minute we get to spend on our one 3 day vacation a year. - Cinderellamomma
293.5 #652 2:21PM
I'ts pricey, yeah. But people need to understand that as a business Disney can't afford to lower prices when it comes down to how much they spend on all of their amazing shows they put on for us! Yeah it's expensive, but I look at is as an investment towards my memories. (: - Beckerina
163.9 #2104 12:24PM
Don't think its a rip off but they shouldn't have raised the prices because its making it harder for more people to go now. - akeleh
293.5 #653 12:25PM
On the other hand, if you buy an annual pass, you can go more often and make it worth your while. - FanOfJack
63.6 #3511 12:30PM
Yep, going at least once a month already pays itself within the first few visits. - rbeezy 653.6 #160 12:32PM
Ok so call me a terrible Disney fan but u spend a hole bunch of money to get in when other parks(that can't compare of course) charge way less don't u want to be competitive and if it's less to get in wont people spend more once they get in the parks??? I know I'm sad when I can't go to DL !!!! its all about money, I can't afford to go even by my self.I'm sure Walt wouldn't want that - lisaw
96.3 #3075 12:39PM
Disneyland doesn't need to be competative. You are right, those other parks are not comparable. Nothing comes close to Disney. - DizGeek 453.3 #270 12:51PM
They probably realized that when they raised prices that they didnt need to worry about losing money because people never stop going. Like I said, unless you have a pass, Disney is usually a vacation or something you plan for. Not just a random whim to go spend 80 dollars. People usually budget. Oh and can I add that most other parks don't let you bring in food! Six flags charges you a dollar a ride to even have a bag. Of couese, those lines are so long that you only ride three... - kaleighmungo 189.9 #1749 1:06PM
It is a bit pricey, but I'm glad I haven't had to buy a ticket yet. I just hope I'm able to renew my pass every year. - drktink
26.8 #4538 12:49PM
Worth every penny to me to experience the magic and memories that my family and i take in everytime we go. - stargoddess120
509.6 #231 12:59PM
Other parks are cheaper, yes, but you don't get even 1/10th of the experience you walk away with from DL. It is sad that some can't afford to experience it but once they do it's definitely worth the wait. As to raising prices? Look at how many more attractions there are! It costs $$ to build, refurbish & keep things like new... Walt wanted Disneyland to keep growing, and I think he would be proud of where Disneyland is today. - piratehairdresser

I think the monthly payment option for APs should be available for everyone as it makes the expense much more manageable. Ironically it became available for northern Californians right after I moved to southern California. Just my 2 cents. - ilovemickey8
321.6 #514 1:02PM
Here's a suggestion for those that are able to budget monthly payments, but are not eligible. Set up a bank account and deposit the monthly payment. In a year you are able to buy your AP and if you keep doing this you can renew the next year. If you put in a few extra bucks you can take care of the annual AP price bump. - Coaster 9139.5 #1 7:42PM
The parks run at a very healthy profit: CEO Bob Iger reported an 11% increase in profits over 2010âēs Q3 on over all revenue of $10.7 billion. The parks and resorts division continues to be a cash cow for the Mouse House with operating profits of $519 million (or 12% of the $3.2 billion revenue earned by the parks). - jacdanfan

I have to say that I'm surprised they don't charge for my two year old son. He has such an incrediable time and can ride so much. I am blessed everytime I go that Disneyland dosnt charge for him. If they did I would understand it and I would have no problem paying it for the joy he gets!! - jeanicej

Yeah it is a little pricey. Which is why I've only been once in the last 4 years. But I'm willing to pay for happiness - NeverlandTink

Lol my man ain't rich. I've thought about being a gold digger but decided against it. But its okay. Our business will take off and ill go whenever I please for the most part :) - NeverlandTink 421.4 #304 2:19PM
Apparently it's not a rip off if the parks are getting packed ð could be a lot of APs but I doubt it. - KissDclown

We must not only remember the fun we get but the safety that we have at the parks! I know that I feel a whole lot better knowing the high level of inspections that are done on the rides. - hairdog67
241.5 #1097 1:24PM
I think ticket prices are a bit steep but reasonable for what the park provides, but $15 for parking?!! - HeffalumpsandWoozles
237.4 #1138 1:31PM
I pay $12 for parking at a boring business center in El Segundo when I go for work training so $15 parking for a fun filled day of awesomeness doesn't seem so bad ð - piratehairdresser 349.9 #411 1:35PM
its worth the price for all that you get. we should also remember all the hard work that goes into making the park look beautiful. They employee a LOT of people who clean the park, serve us, cook, inspect the rides and keep us safe. Prices for EVERYTHING (milk, eggs, bread, etc) have gone up, it makes sense that park prices would too. It does help that Disney offers a monthly payment plan. i def took advantage of it!. - LolatheSlush
201.3 #1605 1:56PM
I think its too expensive...salaries are not going up that fast yet Dl tickets have skyrocketed over the past few years...but at the same time you can't put a price on Disney magic..so maybe it is worth the squeeze because what you get back more than pays for itself... - Disneyrockstar

306.5 #577 2:17PM
I'm so ok with what we need to pay to get in to DL. Although it means for my family of 5 that we only go every few years . It's the quality of Disney . Beautiful , CLEAN and never ending magical memories. Those other parks can not even come close. Not in the same catagorie at all!!! Dirty and groups of ill mannered people are memories I've taken away from visiting less expensive theme parks. Just sayin!!!! - My_HappyPlace

598.0 #183 2:39PM
I wish they would offer more special discounts. We wanted to take our kiss and grand kids to the park for the holidays. 3 of us have passes and it was still going to be 1000.00 just to get into the park! That is not including for and stuff for the kids. - foursunshine
11.9 #6241 4:34PM
I think about what it costs to run the place; the cost of the fireworks, WOC, and Fantasmic every single night, the cost of electricity for the place, etc., The costs must be astronomical. - Bo22
331.1 #468 4:42PM
Well timed purchases of DIS stock will more than pay for your annual passes. Buy low, sell high. Booyah !!! - TharBeSquallsAhead
271.0 #816 5:06PM
I think they should make it towards if you go to the park after like 6pm, the price would go down because youre not even there for half a day.. But a different ticket style so people cant cheat Disney by buying one the evening before and using it the next day - splashie
7.9 #7604 5:07PM
When you add in admission, food, souvenirs and hotel, it does get pricey. Not to mention gas to get there! But, it's sooo worth it! I just wish we could go more!!! - ima-pirateswife
432.3 #289 5:11PM
There are now over 1,000,000 estimated annual Disneyland passholders. We all know how crowded the parks still get so it really speaks to what the market will bear. I'm sure there's a price point where people would actually stop going but clearly we're not even close. - TharBeSquallsAhead
271.0 #816 5:20PM
Where did you get that number? It is groosley incorrect... - Elfie 104.4 #2980 5:29PM
Should be close to that. it was around 850,000 and still rising in early 2010. - Coaster 9139.5 #1 7:38PM
There was an advantage to the ticket system of days past. People who don't like most rides can still enjoy the parks without feeling obliged to go on things or feel ripped off. This is also true for children who can't ride certain rides due to height - SteamboatMinnie
