The LillyBelle opened in 1976, Walt passed a few years before, so no, he never did ride it. He had been planning and designing it when he died and his wife took over as a tribute to him. - staceeyl

When I rode it the CM told us Walt used to ride it all time time. Hours sometimes. He said too that Walt would entertain potential investors/dignitaries there too. Club 33 he never saw completed. Maybe the two are bein mixed up. - CaliCanuck 511.7 #229 6:50AM
http://www.disneylandclub33.com/Lilly Belle.htm ......found this through Google, indicates it was brought into service in 1976 - CVDisneyland 256.9 #934 6:57AM
There was previously a car called Retlaw1 which was retired in 1974..., that he used which is probably where the confusion comes in....the name by the way is Walter spelled backwords - CVDisneyland 256.9 #934 7:04AM
"Lilly Belle" is also the name of the scaled-down steam locomotive Disney ran in his own backyard and the parlour car of the Disneyland Railroad. It should also be noted that Lilly Belle was built in 1928, which would make her as old as Mickey Mouse. - Wizard

We just rode it for the first time a few weeks ago. Loved it. Our guide, however, told us that Walt actually passed before using it, although he did design it (twice actually, because the mrs. didn't like the original). I would love to know which of the accounts is right, from one of you all-knowing mousewaiters :) - LittleAprilShowers

Walt used it when it was called the 'grand canyon' which was that cart, but it's been changed over the years including being named the Lilly belle after his train at his house :) - AshleyLynn22

She reminds me of what someone would look like if they were a real life (actual weight/flesh on her body teenage girl) Ariel. - DuffysJuju
