Can anyone sell me on the idea of pin collecting/trading? I think it looks cool and sounds fun but I'm still holding off on it.

I look it as a way to enhance the disney experience. I personally do not trade often with non-CM traders, but I think it is a lot of fun. I can not really put it into words but walking through the park and seeing what I referee to as "the Shinies" I get all excited it is like looking for hidden mickeys. Also its cool because now fellow MW keep an eye out for pins for me and I keep an eye out for them :) I just think it is fun :) - BooEve123

I trade because it's fun and like a challenge to find good pins. I only trade with cms, that way no pressure from serious traders. It's also a great souvenier to remember your trips.
Just buy a couple and try it. If you don't like it o well. - Pixarprincess

Its fun and awesome and a cool tradition to collect in my opinion. Also something neat to pass on to your kids one day. Down side is if you get super into it your wallet will be very skinny. - akeleh

I don't think anyone needs to sell u on it, most people collect pins, vinalmations, etc bcuz they enjoy it and it has become a hobby or addiction...:-) no one had to sell me, I collect pins bcuz I like too, but I will say whatever u decide, choose wisely... it is an expensive hobby...:-) - disneymomma1

I think the one thing holding me back is money. I spend so much on other things already that when I go to the parks, I barely have enough for souvenirs. But thanks everyone for their answers. I;ll try it out next time I go. - TheNewTrent

I didnt think i would get into it..but i did. My buddies make fun of my Disney "bling" but its all good, because sometimes it just takes one cool pin...It's just another fun thing to do while your at the parks. My favorite part is talking and meeting the CM's...they are sooooo nice and go out of their way to let you see their pins. On the other hand there are some cut-throat non-CM traders-BEWARE! - DisneyDoorite

We just started last trip. My kids and I don't really do any trading we just buy a few pins each visit. It's fun. Now the vinyl thing I just can't get into. - mrssumr

We don't trade we buy one pin each trip as a momento and then I keep them in my cedar chest for my kids when they get older with a note or map with the dates. Just a way for them to remember the trips! - akpoppins
