Ok is this a bad thing? I am going in for surgery at the end of December. After the surgery I will legally be disabled, albeit temporary. My doctor said I could be that way for 6 weeks. I want to take my son to Disneyland during this time. Rent a scooter and take advantage of the handicap entrances. The only major flaw with this, I will be on a severe weight restriction. Which means I won't be able to carry any shopping bags or pull luggage. We have no one else that could go with us just to lend a hand. Is it wrong that I want to take advantage of my situation? I may never get this chance ever again.

Uhhh, how is that taking advantage? You are disabled, however temporary it is. You need a service that is offered, use it. - SorcererBHhaha  408.5 #319 3:03PM
I believe the scooter has a basket you can carry things in, and rent a locker to store you items in. - disneyfan46  333.9 #455 3:00PM
There is no problem here. Use a scooter. You have the restrictions so please dont do more than you have to. You can put a backpack in the back of it and put anything you need yo in there. And the from basket is a good size. So use it and have a blast. Temparairy disability is still a disability. (Fyi im disabled and have no problem with this) - ImAlwaysCrazy  646.4 #166 3:09PM
I think it's taking advantage.. in a GOOD way! You have to go through a surgery! Surgery isn't fun! Being temporarily disabled isn't going to be fun, either. You should try to make the time that you're temporarily disabled go by quickly and have as much fun as you can! Scooters usually do have either handles to help carry things or small baskets. Perhaps your son could wear a backpack to carry the extras in? I say go for it and have a wonderful time! Do your best to relax. If you do it right, Disneyland is certainly a wonderful place to relax and take a load off! - danishmodern  166.2 #2070 3:21PM
Taking advantage would be to fake a disablity to get a pass I have seen people do this. We get one for my mom she cant climb stairs well. A pass does not grant you instant access on rides it just helps you move through the lines. You wait just as long as everyone else. I say go for it and I hope you recover quickly and have fun with your son :) - tiggertwin  317.8 #532 3:49PM
I just feel weird about it, even though it is justified. When I had messed up my knee a few years ago, I could have really used a scooter. But wasn't considered disabled. Having to stand in lines wasn't comfortable at all. So when I see people in wheelchairs hoping onto POTC with no problems, and I am here struggling to get in. It just really bugged me. I was thinking of taking our carry-on bags but can't remember how big the lockers are. My son is a pro at using those - Lelundrial  341.2 #429 7:05PM
They have a couple different size lockers. I can only give you accurate info on the small ones since I just used one last week. They are $7 and can fit quite a bit! I put an entire 6 pack of water bottles, jeans, a couple sweatshirts, and a few other things in there with no problem at all. I actually think that the lockers are a great deal considering how much $ we were able to save by bringing our own waters! - danishmodern  166.2 #2070 7:18PM
I say go for it. You are disabled even though temporary. I usually rent a scooter because of knee problems and last time I didn't. My knees hurt for a month! Take care of yourself but beware if you're a shopper. The basket is smaller than before so you also might need the locker. Hope all goes well with your surgery. - sewgirl  340.5 #431 7:15PM
Thank you all for the info and help. I have used a locker before, but it has been nearly a year and couldn't remember the size. I know I had gotten a big one. We put our small backpacks and night jackets in them. With the shopping I would probably wait till the end. But last question; I recall someone being told when I was in Star Trader they could have a purchase shipped home. It was awhile ago, and I just overheard a snippet of that conversation. Has anyone else heard of this, or done this themselves? If I could have the bulk of things shipped home that would work out great. - Lelundrial  341.2 #429 7:26AM
Im pretty sure that Yes you can totally do that! You can have it shipped anywhere! So if you bought a gift for someone you can have it shipped to their house :) I'm not aware of cost though. - RickeyCalifornia  157.0 #2191 7:31AM
I am sure the cost would probably be the same as UPS shipping from here. Maybe slightly higher. But there is an idea. Cool thanx. - Lelundrial  341.2 #429 9:28AM
