My first graders have figured out how to distract me. They kept asking me Disneyland questions. Of course I had to answer them! Getting back to the short sound of I took a little longer :)
LOL...now you need to pick out Disney words that have the short I sound in them :-) Disney, Indiana Jones, Flik :-) - uscdisneyteacher

lol I can see it now (Teacher)" Tonight's homework assignment is..." (Students) what's your favorite attraction at Disneyland?" (Teacher) answers the question the bell rings. Kids leave homework free.😄 - goofball

Oh, those teachable moments! I think it's great when students try to get me off topic with things they know I'm interested in. It shows they know me! I think it's a great idea for you to integrate your background knowledge about Disneyland, integrate it with the lesson objective(s), and help to develop or activiate your students' background knowledge. Our students are so intelligent! Thank you for sharing a teacher story! - teach67

It all started with, "I went on a trip" They asked if it was true, but I said I'm going on a trip in 50 days. They all knew I was going to Disneyland. The boys asked if it was just princesses there. I had to tell them about all the rides and other fun things. Then I tried to get back on topic. They continued to ask about characters I've met which of course led to looking at my Disney pictures. :)
@uscdisneyteacher, I'll totally have to use more short i Disney words tomorrow and we'll see if they catch on :) - dhBelle04
