Hey guys, I have a question for all of those AP holders that don't live close to Disneyland. What made you choose the AP rather than buying tickets every time that you go? Also, how often do you go? I was just there last week and noticed that you can upgrade to an AP and add your current visit toward the cost of the AP...I wish I had done this because I'm kicking myself now for NOT doing it. At the same time, I live in WA and going down there isn't always easy. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Sac, and try to go at least twice a year. It makes it easier when the wife and I have APs - Mouse92im  256.0 #1426 12:55PM
We usually go at least 3 times a year for at least 3 days. The combined price of buying hopper passes was about the same as an AP ticket. In addition we can go the night we arrive even if for a few hours. Plus we get discounts at the eateries and any souvenirs. We live in Arizona, 7 hr drive for us. - debzdo  5.7 #18542 11:21AM
Hello. We lived in Huntington Beach which is 12 miles from DL. And always had AP. We retired and live in Oalm Springs now but still have AP's as we go alot. 30-40 times a year. If you go 8-10 times and that's days in the park I think it pays for itself as tkts are roughly 80 bucks a day. And if tkt price go up your locked in. Hope that helps. Depends on which AP you get too. - DznyFan4ever  371.8 #700 11:19AM
We live about 4 hours away. Most years we keep our APs. It's a good deal for us if we make 3 visits. We did let them expire in Sept... Will likely renew once CA constuction is complete. Every few years we take an AP break and focus on other kinds of family trips. I am having some Disney withdrawals. - wannahockaloogie  218.3 #1898 11:36AM
I'm in Vegas and my lil guy and I go every other month. We stay at Super 8. I pack plenty of snacks and a lunch. And he's only allowed one vinylmation when we are leaving the park. So it saves me on souvenirs. Most of our trips are usually 2 days. - vegasbrat  435.4 #579 11:38AM
If you plan on going more then twice get an ap. It pays itself off in discounts - J-Cricket  17.7 #8645 11:41AM
I live in sacramento and I have the premium.....I go at least for 10 days a year and for me its with it.....I go randomly with my girlfriend so its will work it for me - chmorroboy81  109.8 #3618 11:45AM
I used to live in WA and my pastor has an annual pass and comes down to Disneyland a couple times a year. He loves it and has had his ap for several years - Jimineycricket  197.8 #2174 11:52AM
When I lived in the Phoenix area, I would visit for extended weekends about every 6 weeks. I got my AP so I could go in as soon as I got checked into my hotel, Anaheim Plaza was always where I stayed, and I would always ride 1 last ride before heading home - soarintotowerCM  11.1 #11509 11:54AM
We are in Colorado and had APs last year. We let them expire in august but will probably upgrade again when we go in a couple weeks. We did the math and since we go three time a year for a total of ten to twelve days, it is cheaper. Plus you get the in park discounts. Everyone here thinks we're crazy but we know why we do it. - minigirl1156  895.6 #247 12:00PM
Discount is nice. I use the pass often enough that it is cheaper than paying tickets - E-Ticket  1651.9 #122 12:04PM
We live in Clovis which is about 4 hours away. We try to go at least a couple days every other month. I have weird days off so sometimes me and my 4 year old shoot down there during the week! - DylanandJay  5.9 #18079 12:07PM
Ahh! We live in Clovis too. We try to go once every other month. If we make 2 trips a year and stay 2-3 days each visit, the pass pays for itself. Considering a 3-day pass is roughly $200. We only payed $350 for our deluxe passes so you can see how it's in our favor to get an AP. Plus we ALWAYS use the discounts. Now that they opened the monthly payment plan to all CA residents, we will definitely be getting premium passes next year :) - DisneyBrideΒ°OΒ°  448.9 #562 12:52PM
I live in SF, I bought it because it saves me alot of money. This year I've used it 3 times, if u keep buying the tickets it ends up being more expensive than the AP. Plus you get free parking & discounts @ the parks. - littlemermaid12  125.5 #3294 12:57PM
We live in wa as well, and bought an AP one year. We made our second trip 11 months later.... So about 12 days in the park, but still a savings. - mommyneedsavacation  148.1 #2910 12:58PM
We live in east bay and bought AP's for the first time this year. The hotel and merchandise discounts are great. What really made us buy this year is we always stay at the Disneyland hotel anyway so this way with the $ we save in discounts we will make another trip out this year :) - Mermaidmommy  32.9 #6217 1:04PM
We live in SD so its close but i never thougjt we would go this much we try to go once a week but with my condiditon you never know. Its so worth the money. - BubbaLoo  870.6 #256 1:06PM
We will go 18days this AP year. So still a savings and we like the 15% discount on meals - Tealtownfan  1171.9 #187 1:06PM
We live in Kansas and have had APs for several years. We usually get three visits of one week each every year and find the APs get us the most bang for our buck. We tend to visit three times in one year, let our APs expire, wait about a year before our next visit, buy new APs, visit at least three times during our AP year, and then repeat the whole process again. It works for us but the year we sit out sure is a long one. :) - mouse13  279.6 #1202 1:08PM
I live in WA too. I upgraded my ticket to an AP during spring break. I was there for 4 days and going for 5 more in a week and possibly 3 days in early march before it expires. I knew it would give me discounts at the park and some freedom to just watch plane ticket prices for random trips. It's easier to budget a trip when you don't have to add tickets to it and can stay at a less expensive hotel or snag some retro nights at the Hojo! We also make our meals and snacks to bring to the park so a 5 day trip with hotel and plane ticket is running me less then $650 for myself and my 2 boys. - Disneycrazymom  137.8 #3088 1:14PM
Where in WA do you live? - nursecolie  137.3 #3099 1:19PM
Thanks everyone! I think I will buy an AP but I'm going to wait until my next visit so I get the most out of it. The perks souns great, I cant wait to go again! - nursecolie  137.3 #3099 1:18PM
Where in WA do you live? - nursecolie  137.3 #3099 1:19PM
They pay for themselves if you go more than 1 time a year, and the discounts for food and stores are a plus. Now we can go more often. Live 4 hours away, and usually at the parks 4-5 times a year. - MinnieTat  305.3 #1007 2:48PM
I live in Oregon and I am going to buy an AP this next trip (in 12 days) because I am going to be making another trip in August 2012 and it's actually cheaper to buy an annual pass then buying seperate tickets for each trip. Plus I will get a discount with it...=o] - iyuzMickey  519.6 #464 2:53PM
If you really want to do the pass, call them I had a friend who decided a few days after they went and they still honored the ticket price upgrade. - MrsE  30.6 #6464 2:54PM
I tried doing the online chat and asked...they said no. Maybe I will try tomorrow though, thanks! - nursecolie  137.3 #3099 12:19AM

Just installed the MW app on my new phone yesterday. This will be very helpful for me since I am used to the android version. Thank you. - teapotsandteacups  5163.0 #30 11:41PM
I've had a lot of trouble with platinum version. It seems to "magically" close itself at random times. The most common random closes are: after updating ride or food times, after clicking on a different feature in the app, or immediately after opening. I generally have to re-open it 2-3 times, at which point it stays open until I've made my update, but if I stop using it for more than 5 minutes and go back to it I have to go through the magical closings again. πŸ˜“ - Mouse28  946.2 #235 9:06AM
I never had that issue with the free version.  - Mouse28  946.2 #235 9:06AM
I had the same issues more so in the park  - Plumiegirl  10886.0 #11 5:42PM
Same here  - Melody_CM  37126.9 #2 7:57AM
And I can only load videos from the non platinum MW  - Plumiegirl  10886.0 #11 9:02PM
This was helpful.. But I'm still having an issue posting to pics to the loungeπŸ˜‘ - 1Minnie58  7.9 #14490 10:12AM

Not sure I understand the ranking here. Is this based on new math? Shouldn't the person with the most points be first? πŸ€” - redsoxcarlos  5855.6 #25 9:36PM
Based on new math! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ New math is #yuckporridge.  - SassafrasDavis  922.6 #238 11:29AM
It's based on News, not quality or points. Just posts that are labeled as news.  - phillip...rocks  1626.6 #127 8:15AM

They come in rarely (once last year for one, a couple on the others, one it's been awhile,  to be exact) but they still had the most news points so they're there till others add to their totals.  - secretagentangel  12853.5 #9 1:39PM

This list needs to be updated! Just saying😬 - MadameLeota  4737.8 #38 9:51PM
is this just a standing thing? Never changes? - DarthFairy  1415.9 #146 8:06PM
This is so true, it never changes, what's up with that lol - itsmyglassslipper  797.1 #281 12:28PM
I know and I'm still on itπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - Plumiegirl  10886.0 #11 5:56PM
I thought it was just me. Lol. Someone needs to hit the refresh button. :) - DeadliestPassholder  489.9 #497 2:10PM
It will stay the same until someone else gets enough points and quality to pass a couple more people. Even though two people on the list don't post much they still are ahead of the rest of us in quality points so they earned their spot. And Plumiegirl you post QC so you're qc score is high! πŸ˜„ - secretagentangel  12853.5 #9 8:33PM
when you are at the top you tend to move slower because its the same folks that frequent the parks most. So hence the top ten.. trolls ;) - Plumiegirl  10886.0 #11 9:55PM

Ok I purchased this and love it. Is there anyway to download it to my mousewait? - oreolovebug  220.1 #1875 12:03PM
Does anyone have a answer for me?  - oreolovebug  220.1 #1875 7:08PM
Countdown is a separate app. It's developed by the Mw app team, app316, but it is technically separate.  - secretagentangel  12853.5 #9 1:16AM

14 more days and I shall be entering in wait times for the first time( I was slow and shy to post). Well actually it will be 15 days. The first  day we check in and go to Trader Sam's. πŸ˜‰ - varela2892  109.7 #3620 7:14AM
I just want to thank all the newbies who are on the list so much lately! This was started as a wait time and more app so by your starting out from the beginning doing wait times is awesome! 2/3of my points are from wait times. I make a game of it and have fun doing them. Hope everyone tries it, it helps others and you earn credits!!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ - secretagentangel  12853.5 #9 9:06PM
Half of my points are from wait times.  - Goofytom  5065.7 #33 10:28PM
I figure it is the least my wife and i can do, plus it is great exercise! I keep saying, one of these days we will go to one of the meet-ups. We generally only go on Saturday and sometimes Sunday as well. That darn thing called 'work' just gets in the way!  - oiler2112  1457.1 #139 7:07AM
Pretty much all my points are from wait times  - kimo  306.6 #996 6:54PM
Next August I will be posting wait times I know it will help pass the time in line but with 15 to 20 of us should go pretty well thanks to you and all the people here on MW - mjpdisney67  95.4 #3874 10:10AM
I'll never catch Winnie, but I have 6 more days to get to number 2. And then my steady decline until my next visitπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ - Mouse28  946.2 #235 9:26AM
You can do it! I did 100 in an evening Thursday! - redsoxcarlos  5855.6 #25 4:26PM
I only post wait times if I've actually gone on the ride..( with the exception if the line is extra short, or extra long..) I try to give folks a heads up. Most of the time I have trouble posting times in certain areas of the park so I get frustrated... - carminaire  1108.8 #201 1:19PM
You're allowed to do it from the sign in front of each attraction or if you go on it a lot and can see the line is shorter/longer you can post that.  - secretagentangel  12853.5 #9 9:04PM
