Hey guys, I have a question for all of those AP holders that don't live close to Disneyland. What made you choose the AP rather than buying tickets every time that you go? Also, how often do you go? I was just there last week and noticed that you can upgrade to an AP and add your current visit toward the cost of the AP...I wish I had done this because I'm kicking myself now for NOT doing it. At the same time, I live in WA and going down there isn't always easy. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Sac, and try to go at least twice a year. It makes it easier when the wife and I have APs - Mouse92im  254.9 #960 12:55PM
We usually go at least 3 times a year for at least 3 days. The combined price of buying hopper passes was about the same as an AP ticket. In addition we can go the night we arrive even if for a few hours. Plus we get discounts at the eateries and any souvenirs. We live in Arizona, 7 hr drive for us. - debzdo  19.1 #5158 11:21AM
Hello. We lived in Huntington Beach which is 12 miles from DL. And always had AP. We retired and live in Oalm Springs now but still have AP's as we go alot. 30-40 times a year. If you go 8-10 times and that's days in the park I think it pays for itself as tkts are roughly 80 bucks a day. And if tkt price go up your locked in. Hope that helps. Depends on which AP you get too. - DznyFan4ever  371.8 #374 11:19AM
We live about 4 hours away. Most years we keep our APs. It's a good deal for us if we make 3 visits. We did let them expire in Sept... Will likely renew once CA constuction is complete. Every few years we take an AP break and focus on other kinds of family trips. I am having some Disney withdrawals. - wannahockaloogie  141.9 #2416 11:36AM
I'm in Vegas and my lil guy and I go every other month. We stay at Super 8. I pack plenty of snacks and a lunch. And he's only allowed one vinylmation when we are leaving the park. So it saves me on souvenirs. Most of our trips are usually 2 days. - vegasbrat  403.8 #326 11:38AM
If you plan on going more then twice get an ap. It pays itself off in discounts - J-Cricket  15.5 #5600 11:41AM
I live in sacramento and I have the premium.....I go at least for 10 days a year and for me its with it.....I go randomly with my girlfriend so its will work it for me - chmorroboy81  109.5 #2918 11:45AM
I used to live in WA and my pastor has an annual pass and comes down to Disneyland a couple times a year. He loves it and has had his ap for several years - Jimineycricket  197.1 #1667 11:52AM
When I lived in the Phoenix area, I would visit for extended weekends about every 6 weeks. I got my AP so I could go in as soon as I got checked into my hotel, Anaheim Plaza was always where I stayed, and I would always ride 1 last ride before heading home - soarintotowerCM  11.1 #6451 11:54AM
We are in Colorado and had APs last year. We let them expire in august but will probably upgrade again when we go in a couple weeks. We did the math and since we go three time a year for a total of ten to twelve days, it is cheaper. Plus you get the in park discounts. Everyone here thinks we're crazy but we know why we do it. - minigirl1156  411.7 #316 12:00PM
Discount is nice. I use the pass often enough that it is cheaper than paying tickets - E-Ticket  772.5 #128 12:04PM
We live in Clovis which is about 4 hours away. We try to go at least a couple days every other month. I have weird days off so sometimes me and my 4 year old shoot down there during the week! - DylanandJay  5.9 #9215 12:07PM
Ahh! We live in Clovis too. We try to go once every other month. If we make 2 trips a year and stay 2-3 days each visit, the pass pays for itself. Considering a 3-day pass is roughly $200. We only payed $350 for our deluxe passes so you can see how it's in our favor to get an AP. Plus we ALWAYS use the discounts. Now that they opened the monthly payment plan to all CA residents, we will definitely be getting premium passes next year :) - DisneyBride°O°  366.5 #381 12:52PM
I live in SF, I bought it because it saves me alot of money. This year I've used it 3 times, if u keep buying the tickets it ends up being more expensive than the AP. Plus you get free parking & discounts @ the parks. - littlemermaid12  125.5 #2643 12:57PM
We live in wa as well, and bought an AP one year. We made our second trip 11 months later.... So about 12 days in the park, but still a savings. - mommyneedsavacation  139.0 #2463 12:58PM
We live in east bay and bought AP's for the first time this year. The hotel and merchandise discounts are great. What really made us buy this year is we always stay at the Disneyland hotel anyway so this way with the $ we save in discounts we will make another trip out this year :) - Mermaidmommy  32.8 #4259 1:04PM
We live in SD so its close but i never thougjt we would go this much we try to go once a week but with my condiditon you never know. Its so worth the money. - BubbaLoo  826.2 #109 1:06PM
We will go 18days this AP year. So still a savings and we like the 15% discount on meals - Tealtownfan  693.4 #144 1:06PM
We live in Kansas and have had APs for several years. We usually get three visits of one week each every year and find the APs get us the most bang for our buck. We tend to visit three times in one year, let our APs expire, wait about a year before our next visit, buy new APs, visit at least three times during our AP year, and then repeat the whole process again. It works for us but the year we sit out sure is a long one. :) - mouse13  279.3 #738 1:08PM
I live in WA too. I upgraded my ticket to an AP during spring break. I was there for 4 days and going for 5 more in a week and possibly 3 days in early march before it expires. I knew it would give me discounts at the park and some freedom to just watch plane ticket prices for random trips. It's easier to budget a trip when you don't have to add tickets to it and can stay at a less expensive hotel or snag some retro nights at the Hojo! We also make our meals and snacks to bring to the park so a 5 day trip with hotel and plane ticket is running me less then $650 for myself and my 2 boys. - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3041 1:14PM
Where in WA do you live? - nursecolie  135.5 #2516 1:19PM
Thanks everyone! I think I will buy an AP but I'm going to wait until my next visit so I get the most out of it. The perks souns great, I cant wait to go again! - nursecolie  135.5 #2516 1:18PM
They pay for themselves if you go more than 1 time a year, and the discounts for food and stores are a plus. Now we can go more often. Live 4 hours away, and usually at the parks 4-5 times a year. - MinnieTat  303.3 #596 2:48PM
I live in Oregon and I am going to buy an AP this next trip (in 12 days) because I am going to be making another trip in August 2012 and it's actually cheaper to buy an annual pass then buying seperate tickets for each trip. Plus I will get a discount with it...=o] - iyuzMickey  509.7 #231 2:53PM
If you really want to do the pass, call them I had a friend who decided a few days after they went and they still honored the ticket price upgrade. - MrsE  29.7 #4393 2:54PM
I tried doing the online chat and asked...they said no. Maybe I will try tomorrow though, thanks! - nursecolie  135.5 #2516 12:19AM
My mom got me and her premium passes for my birthday. We live about 45 minutes from SF and so far we've gone 3 times sence we got them (April). My mom got them because were both big fans of disney and she wanted to spend more time with me - brookerly95  123.0 #2684 12:33AM
