They record a lot of it here too. I watch it every year and there's always clips from here and florida. And I also don't think they post it on the Disney parks blog. In Florida they film the first week in December. I don't know that they make a public announcement, but I know cast members are invited and can bring guests. They may invite passholders, but I'm not sure. I do know that in exchange for being an extra you get a free day in the parks.
