So today, I went for my first longish run/walk outside in at least a year (been doing between 2-3 miles, but today I pushed myself to do 5 because I had the time). I had a huge victory: I was able to jog all the way up this huge hill without having to stop to walk! (although I was going pretty slow--might have been quicker if I HAD walked, lol!). I've always had to walk part of it before, even when I was running outside religiously. I gained a couple of pounds this week, and have been a bit bummed out, so it felt good to remind myself that those couple of pounds that I gain and lose due to water weight and whatnot aren't what matter: it's my overall health and what my body can do that matter most!

Good for you SOS!!..5 miles that is awesome!..yep you have the right attitude!!..WOOHOO and great job..I am just trying to focus on a weight range this month..I want to hit the low 40's..I reached my goal last month but gained and lost ..so now I am lookin at the whole month ..dang girl 5 miles and no walkin..that is a major achievment!!...congrats!! .. - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2421 9:38PM
Thanks, Twinklelashes! I think focusing on a weight range is a good idea! You'll get there, and congrats on reaching your goal! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 6:51AM
Oh, a funny thing to share with you all...as I was running, the sun was low behind me. My shadow looked like my bottom half was 3x the size of my top half--my hips looked huge! If that isn't motivating, I don't know what is, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 7:13AM
That's funny SOS..I am not a fan of the harsh light and mirrors in department stores..my house has cool hues of different colors..I look fab when I get all dolled up!..stores..eh..not so much..whateves thank goodness my eye sight is failing so there is a lovely fuzziness around things...lol - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2421 5:05PM
Yay SoS! There's a hill in the park I walk at everyday. When I was at my heaviest earlier this year, I'd have to stop and rest half way up. I could tell when my weight loss was starting to "count" when I could walk up without getting winded. I still use that hill as a measurement (although now it's my dog that doesn't want to run!). And you're right...those accomplishments matter, and mean more in the long run than a pound here and there. - msdizmaui  521.5 #226 1:24AM
@twinkle: if I owned a boutique, I would def have soft lighting and clothes sized smaller than they actually are (I.e.: a "6" would be labelled "4")! @MDM: the weight loss does make a difference, doesn't it? Think of how heavy a ten pound dumbell is: if you lose just 10 pounds, your body is carrying A LOT less weight with each movement! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 7:00AM
