Went to the park yesterday was all geared up to have my first Monte Cristo sandwich.Waited 45 minutes to get in Cafe Orleans and ordered a cup of gumbo which by the way is just the BEST. 30 minutes later I finally get my sandwich. This thing should be banned from the park.Eighteen bucks for some fried I dont know what.Needless to say I wont order it again ever. Who else has ordered something at disneyland that was so disapointing?
Did you not know what it was before you tried it? I probably would have felt the same way but fortunately saw it in advance, heard what it was and decided it wasn't to my taste. I'm sorry about your experience though. - SorcererMky

Most of my family are from Louisiana, so I'm really picky when it comes to gumbo and monte crisco. The gumbo is amazing, but not better than my grandmas. The Monte Crisco is amazing! But if you are not use to this kind of food, then you won't like it at all. I guess you could called it an acquired taste. I'm from the south, so I'm use to eating food that could possibly kill me at any moment, lol. :P - Nyghtngale

Unfortunately our worst dining experience was at Cafe Orleans as well. We made reservations and got seated and then just sat there...for over a half hour. No water or anything. We didn't even get to experience the food there. It was the first and only time we filed a complaint at City Hall. Sad but we did get some yummy bread bowls right next door! - minigirl1156

The only bad food experience I have had at DLR was at the Minnie & Friends character breakfast...the chocolate muffin was gross. But that is all :) The waffles and getting to dance with Tigger totally made up for it. - Jillian

Pizza Port - out of what we wanted and tried to find something else but the salads were wilted and the bread was stale (hard as a rock, my hubby actually took it back for a refund). - Duchess73

I love the Monte cristo, the jam makes it. The pommes frites were just ok though. Same with the ratatouille. I'm also not a fan of the turkey legs. They look and smell so good, but they taste like ham. I do like ham, but I want my turkey to taste like turkey dangit! - TickledTink

The monte cristo is disgusting. My arteries plug up just thinking about it. I ordered it once - there was HAIR fried right into it - dark, long, curly HAIR! More than one strand The server even had the audacity to question me about it... - SnowW13

I was a cook at a breakfast cafe, so knw what a Monte Christo is. I like them. Have one everytime I'm in the park. Absolutely they are not for everyone. Neither are Mint Juleps and/or Seafood Crepes. To each their own. - Pacificruz

Went to the Blue Bayou and ordered a Monte Cristo. VERY greasy. I had never had one before. I really didn't like it and they took it back and didn't charge me for it. - Bigdisneykid

sorry about that :/ I am almost thinking that the turkey legs are cooked with a liquid smoke-if it reminds so many of ham. Maybe? Kinda? Idk. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

A few years ago my boyfriend, his cousin and cousins wife and I went to the blue bayou and I have to say that was extremely disappointing for what I expected and price we paid. Our food was cold and bland... I had chicken and it was undercooked...server was rude and not attentive... The atmosphere is amazing but sadly we will never go back - nikki0311

I like them okay. Maybe I'm just partial to grease. Had the gumbo last time and that was the best gumbo I've ever had, hands down. To be honest everything tastes better to me when I'm in the Park!! - Hauntress

My husband has been going to the Blue Bayou with his family since he was a kid. We're 60. He has a souvenir menu and the Monte Cristo was $4.94 and he said you got four, and it included a cup of chowder. He go every once in a while but not as good and way to much money now. Have never had a good experience @ Cafe Orleans. Don't go there anymore. If you want a good Monte Cristo and you live by a Bennigans, try theirs. But you're that Gumbo is excellent. - splashphotoCM

I like the Monte cristo, but for only one bite. More than that is too much grease for me. - TrueFromOzLovesDisney

My husband and I love the Monte Cristo, but I understand if people don't. I am not fond of the turkey leg, the pasta at Plaza Inn or the crab cakes at the Blue Bayou. There are plenty of things that I love, so all is good. - VanDisney

I have found with the Monte Cristo that it's so rich that I can only eat a few bites. Then I end up hungry about an hour or so later. The worst food I've ever had (that I can recall) was @ DCA this past May/ June. My friend & I decided to grab burgers @ Taste Pilots' Grill & everything was just terrible. The burgers were totally cold, as were the fries. We were so hungry & tired that we ate it anyway. It didn't even occur to me to file a complaint @ City Hall. - belle421

I had the Monte Cristo yesterday. Our service at Cafe Orleans was great. It was even better than the service we received at Steakhouse 55 the night before. I'm sorry you had a bad experience! :-( Maybe we just went at a good time. - hunnybee7777
