I was asked yesterday how I tolerate rude or obnoxious guest. My answer was "I Don't" . I learned along time ago, as most Cast member do, that I do not tolerate guest, I accept them. I accept that this may be the only, or one a few visits they may ever make to Disneyland. They may have saved up for a year or more for this trip. They may have had a long day in the heat. Things may not have gone a planned or they did not plan at all. I do not know what has brought them to this point but I do know that they are here, with me now, and I accept them. The only real thing that is with in my control is how I interact with the guest right now. And my goal is to make this time, be it one minute or ten, magical. Many people have been on the jungle cruise many times. This may be my 60th boat this week. But to some, it may be the one only trip through the Jungle. So, I talk to them. I may not know which out of the 45 people on the boat have never been here before so I accept the fact that it may be all of them. I learn something from every interaction I have with guest. I learn how people are different, I learn how they are the same. I learn that no two people experience Disneyland the same way. I learn that magic has it's effect on young and old, rich and poor, tough or tender. If you are having a bad day in the park, no problem, we are here to help. Let us know, let me know.
