So, my lil one,(almost 2) is sadly very nervous of characters in the park (even Mickey!); except the ones like Princesses that look human.Has anyone else had this issue with their kiddo and how did they get over it?

When I was little I hated Santa and the Easter bunny but was never afraid of the Disney characters hopefully ur kiddo won't be scared when u go - princessVanessa  382.5 #352 10:36PM
We've went already;she is nervous. She is happy to watch them from a small distance and if someone is between her & the character she is better. But when we take her to princess area for stories and such..she is a hugging smiling nut & can't get enough TLC from them! - MWer_Lizzie  113.6 #2842 10:43PM
Yep. Its not uncommon. My oldest LOVED Buzz when he was 2 and yet wouldn't go near him. He got so scared. He wouldn't go near and characters at all up until the day we were walking along Main St and Minnie came by him in his stroller and just touched him on the head and waved. He was smitten at that point. He was about 3 then. That was his favorite for a long time. My other son (middle child) has never really had the fear of characters. Now our daughter who is 4 is a little different with things. She will run up to the characters like Mickey, Minnie with no issues but gets very nervous with human like ones. I think for her it just seems more real maybe. She adores the Princesses and when I took her last Nov for girls day they were so awesome in getting her to come with them to take pics. The CM was so nice to let us just stand to the side until she was ready to go in. We never held the line up cause I would never do that. She even had Snow White come up to her and try to get her in. Once she got in and Belle got her to come with her she was much better about things. Still won't go see Tink again though and she loves her too. One day we will get there. Just give your little girl time and one day she will be ok with them. - TheRealEvilQueen  24.4 #4706 10:50PM
My kids were the same way. One of my twins would run & hide if he saw one! I think the character breakfasts help because they could watch them from afar with other kids and it took a few times but they warmed up to them. - supertracy  435.6 #286 11:00PM
All four of mine had a fear of "characters" some more than others....I don't have one good picture of them with Santa either. Like most have already said, just give her time...she'll come around :) - bagglady  342.9 #425 11:15PM
