That's a bummer. I guess it was a matter of time before something was said. I think its because of safety reason. - dcatowerofterrorguy2011

I saw someone planking on BTMRR's FP machines yesterday and it the guy almost fell on his head. I'm almost positive the CM wasn't doing it to ruin the fun but because of safety reasons. Props to the CM for that. - bren12

@matildamouse- it's when you stand straight up while wearing a lampshade on your head. I've only seen it done once, but it looks awesome! - sharkbait

Lamping? Hahaha. I prefer "benching". Sitting somewhere at the park with my back up against the wall so it looks like I'm sitting on an invisible bench. I do this when I'm tired and there's nowhere to sit lol! - OCdrumGuy

Unless it's the Strawberries daughter Violet or another child owling on their parents lap, I NEVER want to see anyone owling again! - SUUZinOC

If planking is considered childish, then so be it :] After all, is Disneyland not a place where one channels their inner child? If someone is having fun and being safe and not hurting anyone, then I don't see a problem with it. - VivaHate88

Boo. Oh well. Owling is so much more classy looking, anyways. - acpowers13

@jackie Its a fancy type of squatting where you keep a straight face like a perched owl scanning the surroundings. Simple google search will provide better specifics and examples. - bleucheese7

Yeah Google it haha :) its like... strange squatting. - acpowers13

I was told by a CM that they (each department) got pictures of planking/owling, & they were told to stop it if they see it for safety. - prettyinpink

itz because that guy died planking on a building (not at disney) but since then we have 2 say sumthing. - shainabay

If you cannot say something nice, it's best u keep it to yourself. MW should be fun and positive. Negative people ruin the fun. - Ariel7texas

The kids couldn't plank in a photo with McQueen & Mater? I can see if they didn't want them to plank ON them, but don't see the harm next to them. People do all kinds of silly things during character meet n' greets. - MoonWillow
368.9 #375 12:05PM
@MoonWillow my son tried planking in front of McQueen. One CM was laughing and said it was fine but another one over ruled her and said planking wasn't allowed. - MissyluvsDisneyland
357.6 #396 12:20PM
Disney takes the safety of the guest serious. If they said no planking , it's not because they were being uncool or killing the fun, it's because they want everyone to have a fun and safe day. Planking is funny yes, but when and if it puts someone's safety ask risk, it's not worth it. - PlaidCM
186.4 #1795 12:44PM
If you want to lay down go to your hotel room and don't disrespect the great that is Disney - puddy77

Wow startours1 sounds super bitter about planking. I agree with @ponyboy viva la planking!!!! Bring it my wonderful planking friends! (safely of course ) - KissDclown
1088.1 #77 1:10PM
I agree as long as it done safely I don't mind. I think it's all in good fun, last plank I saw was at ariels grotto at the window 3 little kids planked on top of eachother, they were having fun so no complaints from me. - chris.

It's their job to keep them safe - Darla
22.2 #4869 2:43PM
Why would you do something that could potentially put ur AP at risk? If a CM as asked you not do do something, there is a reason. If you love and respect Disneyland as I assume most on here do, why disrespect the CMs and the park? - PlaidCM
186.4 #1795 3:14PM
@Missyluvs... That's a bummer! It does sound funny and harmless. Maybe the other CM's interpretation of safety is just eliminating it altogether. That's too bad when something has to be eliminated because people can't be trusted to use common sense. - MoonWillow
368.9 #375 3:43PM
Disney probably just doesn't like people climbing and laying on stuff. People can get hurt, plus things can get ruined. I tried sitting on those rocks at the entrance to Tomorrowland for a pic, and I got yelled at. Even if they suck, rules are rules - Kari_Bo_Berry
