Last night, I dined at Ariel's Grotto and when making our reservations we told them we were vegan and they definitely accommodated. For entrees, we had rice noodles. One dish had marinara sauce with chunky tomatoes. It was yummy! But the other was my favorite. It was portobello mushroom, cilantro, onion and tomato in a mushroom broth. So good! We are "eternally grateful" to the chef for accommodating us! :)
We've done Ariel's twice and I made special meal requests for my kids- and both times my kids had beautiful meals (made me so happy I almost cried). Disney Dining and the chef at Ariel's were awesome and I highly recommend! - MoonWillow

That is so awesome! I too am vegan, so I fully understand the joys of finding edible meals in a non-vegan world... :-) - FeralMatt

@legoalex - We called about a week ago to make reservations. We mentioned being vegan and the server talked to the chef that day so I don't think they needed that much notice.
@FeralMatt - My boyfriend and I were vegetarian and just recently started to go vegan so it's going to be interesting for us! - MonteKristal

It's really simple (shopping) for food. Dining out can be a bit more difficult. Have you read anything? I can give you a book list, if you want. feralmatt@gmail.com
p.s. do you have an IPhone or an android? - FeralMatt

@legoalex: I believe officially they like 30 days notice but I have called much under that and have had no issues. You could also go into most sit down restaurants and tell them you have diet restrictions and the chef will come to your table and talk with you before the meal. - MoonWillow
