So we just found out that we get to make a quick trip to Disneyland this weekend. I really wanted to do a locker RAK, but it seems like everyone is getting ripped off. What does everyone think of a bag RAK instead? Same rules as a locker, but you have to come find me with a bag of goodies to choose from. This is for my son, and I really don't want someone to steal everything and ruin our fun. Too much trouble or do you think it would work??
Is it a RAK or "trick or Treat"? I am torn on the whole idea of doing RAKs with the expectation of getting something in return. It seems like more of white elephant gift exchange. Which, is also fun, just different. I hope which ever you decide, it works out great for your son. - BalooTBear

I did a locker rak Wednesday and ended up getting semi cleaned out (many people took without leaving anything, or took something large leaving just a fp) so we didn't really end up with anything but the notepad left, but after reading everyone's notes (those who left notes) made it worth it. Some people got some really awesome stuff that we didn't even see! And everyone enjoyed it. That made it worth it, even if there were some people who didn't play fair - Pixarprincess

I think if you go into with the idea that you're going to get awesome gifts you're missing the point of the RAK. If you want to carry a bag and give things away to those that find you, that's cool. But to expect a gift in return is a bit much. Personally I wouldn't take something from you without giving back, but I don't think that should be your expectation. If it is, then it's more of a gift exchange than a RAK. - Mimmy

I'm with Baloo here - how about something that really is random: give something to a complete stranger, or a family you see standing in line...the possibilities are endless, and you will be amazed by the happiness you will be spreading around, randomly - TinkPen

Thanks eveyone for the advice. I think you are right, I don't want anyone to feel obligated to give something back. I think we will just give things away at random and hopefully make some people smile! - whatsthis

Good idea--just keep your eye on the roll call throughout the day and post your location so people can find and meet you. It's more random and more genuine that way :)
I do want to add that if people wanted to do a locker RAK, a good solution is to use the TXT feature to inform participants of the locker # and code (instead of posting the info in the Lounge). That way, you have an electronic trail of who goes in and out of the locker and you actually have to have a MW account set up in order to get in. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
