I recently went to Disneyland with my cousin and his girlfriend for their first time at the end of the trip they both wanted the classic Mickey Ears. They wanted to get their nicknames Pudding and Cupcake written on the back of their ears but the CM making them said it wasn't allowed. Does anyone know why it isn't allowed and is this even true?

CM s as a rule may only embroidery true names on hats...its a company rule but just maybe, depending on cm, they may grant nickname request - uscdisneyteacher

Their machines are copyrighted so you cant use business names or schools...nicknames are not allowed because Disney doesn't want to endorse certain things if they end up bein gang related or something under those circumstances..when I graduated I could only get my name on my Mickey grad ears...not the degree or school of social work or the school..they can take em somewhere else to embroidered ... - Mouseketeer.for.Short

They have to use your "legal" name. I think that's the only time I have ever been really annoyed at Disneyland. I was buying a hat for my sister and I only call her by her nickname, it's not offensive at all. They wouldn't allow it. :( - lovesyou21

When I got my doggies their Mickey ears the lady just asked if they were our nicknames and we told her they were our dogs names and she made them for us. Their names are regal and sketchy. - maxinerenton

haha okay so what I am getting from this is that sometimes a CM will let you get your nickname on there but most of the times no because they want real names! lol thanks for all the stories! and all o the interesting student names :P did you all ever hear of the girl who's name was Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz? - MinnieNikki
