What is everyone's take on Song of the South? Should it be re-released? What do people remember about it that would justify it never being seen again?
@juice yes it is. I never saw it but have always wanted to to see what all the fuss was about - dumbo0o0

Yes. Splash Mountain is themed after the animated sequence in this movie. It was made in the 1940's and is not being re-released because of the cultural differences concerning race since then. - AKMouse

I heard they will not re-release it because the movie is actually very racist. - Daddy & Maddy Fett

I remember seeing it. It's very racial, and unfortunately in today's world would be too controversial to be released by Disney. Not everyone would understand or be okay accepting it as a time-period film. - Mouse92im

It has a special place in my heart because it's the first and only movie I saw alone with both my parents (no siblings). I bought it at the San Diego fair last year, but can't bring myself to watch it because it reminds me of my dad who passed away - SueBayou
