I have a question for all the MWers that are parents. I bought a Disney Princess backpack for my niece and she will begin the 2nd grade in September. I'm worried that kids will feel too old to have character backpacks and I don't want her to be teased. Does anyone know if kids that age still use kiddy backpacks? TIA.

My second grader to be would not carry one BUT she wont get rid of a rolling princess one she's never used. I think it has more to do with an older sis that's already past that stage. But everyone is diff. I bet she will rock it!! What a nice auntie - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

It all depends on the child. My daughter (6 yr old) would be concerned. My son (4.5 years old) would not be concerned. - Jewelz

I agree depends on the child. One twin would care the other would not. - Lifeguardmom

I've taught 3rd grade for five years, and each year, the most popular backpacks for girls have been the ones covered in Disney characters. Great choice, auntie! Now that I'm moving to 5th grade, my new students better get used to sharing our room with my Stitch collection, as well as my Little Green Men (who seem to be growing in population...hmm...). - susieQzee

It depends on the kid. My oldest ended character anything a bit into 2nd grade but it all faded out slowly. I wouldn't be surprised if my youngest is much older before he feels that way. Plus with boys I think there is more pressure about that than girls - ToshiStation
