I've been lucky enough to stay at the Grand before, it is very very nice, the last few times we stayed at the Paradise Pier. I couldn't pass up the deal we got on the vacation package. I was happy with the Pier. Less expensive and still able to enjoy the perks of a resort hotel. I've also stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn, right across the street from Disneyland and that wasn't too bad.
