Hi all my fellow MWers! I need your thoughts. My birthday is Monday, July 18. My good friend who is a Disney store CM just invited my daughter and I to Disneyland on Monday. But I don't have the day off from work. Should I call in sick? I feel bad calling in sick cause my boss has been so good to me and I hate lying. Should I call my boss and tell her the situation? Maybe I can take a personal day. I really want to be at DL on my Bday. What do you think?
get there any way you can! disneyland hs the best on your birthday. - missgoofy

It sounds like your conscience would bother you if you lied. If was you, I'd call your boss and tell him the situation, tell him how it's a rare opportunity for you, if he/she has been so good to you I'd think they would let you go. Maybe offer to come in another day or work extra hours or something. Or bribe him/her with a Mickey key chain or something lol - RickeyCalifornia

Does disney fever count as a sickness?... If your boss has been good to you, I'm sure they'll understand this! - TangledBelle

Why would it be so hard to get a day off? For me, if we have the staffing and we have time on the books, we can have it off. If I call in sick my work forces me to stay home cause if I don't I can be fired. - HotDiggityDogDaddy

There's good advice in this thread! I agree that you should be honest. Ask your boss for the day off. I would explain that it's a special situation and it would mean a lot to you. - dlandfrk

Call in for a personal day. You don't have to explain why you're not coming in. As long as you don't know of any major deadlines due Monday, it should be ok. - JenAnneWho
