just found out that the house we are renting is gonna be put under a short sale, but the landlord said it shouldn't affect our lease that ends in february. I really hope he's right because we don't have the money to move so soon

he said it'll be in the near future, my husband is keeping in contact with the property management that the landlord is going through and they're keeping in contact with us. I'm freaking out here - Ashbunn

our neighbours next door were renters and told the house was going into a short sale late last year. They were told by the owners they could stay there in the meantime. 6 months later (about 3 weeks ago) they were being evicted. I'd def. keep my guard up - CaliCanuck

Oh, Ashbunn, I know how stressful this is. It's happened to us twice in the last 18 months. If you're in CA, you have rights as a renter. We moved both times right away because we didn't want to hassle with having people look at the houses while we lived there. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Ooh not good. My friends were in a lease and the owner had to do a short sale and they got evicted 2 months into it with no notice. Hope your situation is better! - Krissy Marissy

There are laws that protect renters I'd look into it. Especially with all the foreclosures going around these past years. Having lease does not protect u in this type of situation I do know that from first hand experience. - Cricket
