Reposting from a seperate thread -- After seeing posts about being upset bc people arent showing interest in their RAKs being done I really felt the need to address this: The point of a RAK is to make someone smile... Whether its one person or a million. Just bc 100 people didnt enter their name in the RAK or nobody found you at the park doesnt make it any less important. A RAK has no value... A tshirt should mean the same as a dinner at club 33 or a smile at a total stranger... Its random and kind.. No matter how many people want it, providing a total stranger with a little bit of happiness is what its all about.
Well said. You are absolutely right about making someone smile. Plus if not so many people enter in a rak, it makes it better for those that did. Thanks for the reminders. If it makes a difference in the life of one person, it is worth it.

Well said! & I have to agree with the shirt meaning the same as club 33, ive received a few things from MWers and no matter how small or different in $ value, they've all made me so equally happy to know that someone would be so kind to just give somethIng to a total stranger - jazzydarling

No matter how many times we try to say it, there always will be that one person. - BCC

I got just as much enjoyment handing my fastpasses that weren't claimed by MWrs to random people. I actually was able to give a family of five who had never been fast passes for WOC and they were super excited. - Mrsblue

Auz and I used to do in park RAKs and announce them on MW, but we started handing out goody bags and fast passes to random kids and families at the park. Instead of announcing RAKs on here, I usually mail surprises to random mwers. - michelledork

We participated in a locker RAK this week and it got ripped off. So no more locker RAKs for me. We did an in park RAK for a tshirt that went well. But my fave thing was we bought a bunch of glow wands and pirate patches at Walmart before going, and my kids handed them out to boys and girls waiting to watch the fireworks. The kids had fun doing it. - Mrsblue

A smile, high five, or hug is the best RAK I could ask for! It's about "high quality" human interaction, not the quantity of people who respond :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar

We bought some awesome Disney stuff from the store... Handed them out to kids. It made our trip and hopefully theirs. I love the glow stick idea @blue - michelledork

Do you find it better to keep RAKs private or to share publically? What is more satisfying? - calidream1

We handed out glow necklaces and wands the last time we went to fantasmic, just to random kids. I think RAK's are more special when people aren't expecting it. - akpoppins

They were cheap too. We had princess wands, necklaces, bracelets and pirate patches with earrings and beads. It was fun! - Mrsblue

Those of us who were around when RAKs were first created by Dahula know that RAKs are definitely not what they used to be. - michelledork

RAKS are not even what they were in February. - Mrsblue

What's cool is seeing how the distortion of RAKs on MW has lead to an increase of true RAKs in the parks. Dahula was doing in-park RAKs long before there was a MW. We've always made sure to pack a bag of Disney treats to RAK whenever we've travelled to WDW. - Experiment818

A RAK is a selfless act. Once you verge from that simple definition, you're doing it wrong. - Experiment818

Dahulagirl RAKS everday wether she is in the parks or not. Knowing her and her heart have made mine not so icy. - Mrsblue

yea I loved it when Dahula would just pick some random family in the park and sign them in or give their kids a bunch of toys, that was pretty neat to see, even saw Michelledork do it, she would bring in toys and hand them to kids and just move on...its not the same anymore...QUALITY CONTENT NEEDED...oh and there was that one time that 818 pulled over on the side of the freeway and gave a homeless man a pair of mickey ears and bought him a house in beverly hills...that as epic....if you want to meet people just post in the park meetups and people will come and hang out, it does not have to be find me and get something for me to meet you, I've even seen people get butthurt cause they give out in park raks then the other person does not post a huge thank you post in the lounge...if thats what your looking for than the true meaning of a RAK is not for you - Dave

I often get in a little conversation with a family (usually at night) who have fastpasses they won't use because they're too tired. I tell them I'll find a family who wants them. So they give them to me and I do a RAK for whoever wants to ride Space Mtn. at midnight (just an example). Their reaction is priceless and I actually get to do my job- create Disney magic :) - BaseballMickey_CM

I only get mad when Kevin RAKs Auz a big handshake and good pats on the back. I get jealous. - michelledork

I know none of you know me but it seems like a good tome to see if anyone wants to bring me to club 33...JK I just want to say that I'm newish and so appreciate all you guys do! I wish I had been here longer to know more of the true raks but seeing raks like CS's club 33 rak absolutely amazed me. There will always be those who don't have the true selfless spirit but those who do impact us all for the better! We appreciate you all with the true Disney spirit! - kcloveswalt

I, for one, don't do RAKS to get recognition or praise. I do them because I like too and I want too. But I do have to say this, when a RAK only gets a few entries that stings a little because I went out and bought the stuff with the intentions to give it to someone who wants it. That said, I will not stop doing RAKS because I have always been a giver. I like making people happy. I just won't take it personal if not many enter my RAKS. - DizGeek

Daves seen it first hand. I never announced it or even mentioned what I was doing. We were walking, he turned around and goes "did you just give that kid a toy?" And I said, yea... And we kept walking. I dont do stuff for the attention or recognition, I do it because its fun and if I can make someones day, I will. - michelledork
658.3 #159 10:00PM
LOL, yea I was like..what are you doing, and the kid had a buzz lightyear shirt on and she asked if he loved buzz and he said ya and she handed him some buzz toy, the kid and mom were estatic, it was cool to watch...Dizgeek, I hear ya but dont get stung by lack of people entering, its just that 80 percent of the lounge is RAKs and people are selective on what they want cause its all about that ya know....I've even heard from people that use to be in the lounge all the time that they only go in to enter RAKs for free stuff... - Dave

I actually like enterimg RAKs for other people more than myself. - Mrsblue

Thanks guys! I love the idea of giving things out at park to random people and I will also do that!! - DizGeek

Just spotted this thread and appreciated it :) ever since I was little my father who ha almost no money would make it a point to take me to dla all the time...he would always go to city hall or have random buttons or like cheapy lays or neckalces ad whenever he saw a child cry he would always say "cheer up you are at disneyland" and hand them a button or something and just walk away...to this day almost twenty years later my dad would give you the shirt off his back if e knew he could make your day atdisneyland more magical...
