I am just curious... What is the point of pin trading? I have always wondered??? I don't want to offend anyone... I just want to see everyone's points of view.
I love pins! Its fun to find pins that mean something to me and I always pick out a pin every visit and when I look at them they remind me of that special time.. Like I got one for my honeymoon, one for valentines day, I even have one from when I was little and got to dance in the Disneyland parade! To me they are memories! - kritomiester

Is it an expensive hobby? - scbcrew

It can be like a scavenger hunt when your looking for a specific pin to finish a set. To me it is kinda like looking for hidden mickeys. Pins are my "HM" that I can take home ;) - hahalina

It can be. That's why trading is popular. A CM may have rare, hard to find, or even pricey pins available for as a trade not a purchase. Remember, one pin may be too much and a thousand may never be enough. - hahalina

There are just so many! And when you choose an awesome character or theme to collect it's hard to stop! I love pin trading!!! It can get very pricey and with any hobby there are those Scrooge mcducks who "play for keeps." - Mouseketeer.for.Short

Wow, mstiauna27... Don't get your feathers ruffled... I was not judging anybody; I was just asking a question to which I wanted an honest answer... Not an opinion based on what you think I should do!! I am being open-minded... That was the point of the question!! - scbcrew

Thank you to everyone who responded!! I think my 6 year old would love to do this. Do you trade with others in the park? How does it all work? Besides buying them, of course!:) - scbcrew

you can trade with CM's wearing lanyards.. there is a special color lanyard (i forgot what color) where you have to be either 12/11 or younger to trade with that CM - DonaldMissingPants

My daughter and my hubby do it to trade, I have a few that I really like and won't trade, I'll probably just collect ones that I like and have meaning to me. My son wanted the Grape Soda pin, he got it (thanks to an awesome MWer!) and he's done :) that's all he wanted! I like hearing everyones perspectives, thanks for asking a great question! - TandAlly

Yea... What is the deal with the grape soda pin? I've seen that a lot on MW?.?.?. - scbcrew

The CMs with the light teal lanyards or pin pouches only trade with kids :) - TandAlly

The Grape Soda pin is from the movie "UP". Ellie gives one to Carl when they are kids, and in the end Carl passes it on to the little boy :) it's a very sentimental theme in the movie. - TandAlly

I just wonder what happens if a random person cones and asks you to trade and they want one that you don't want to give up??? I want a grape soda pin so bad! - thomaks

If a random person appraches you to trade and requests a pin you don't want to trade you politly decline. No hard feelings. That's why sone times I'll wear two lanyards: one for display pins and one for trading pins. Most people understand that when you have a neat collection you want to show them off. The hardest is turning down a trade with a kid. That's why I have the second lanyard cuz I'd love to trade, just not my favs. - hahalina

The best way that works for my hubby is he buys trader pins off eBay so if he sees a pin he needs he doesn't need to worry about trading a pin he wants to keep. He also only trades off of cm's because they usually have the pins he wants most of the time if he gets to them in time before the ones he needs are gone. - stargoddess120
