So I was just thinking, I've never had the honor of going to Disneyland with my grandma. She's 76 years old & I know she would probably be scared of most attractions. I just wanna take her even if it means renting a wheel chair for her cuz I know she'll get tired fast. What are your experiences taking elderly family member to DL? I just wanna know if it's a good idea, I deeply believe it is but I just wanna be sure. I know for sure I can't take her on space mountain. Idk. Gimme some ideas please. :)

TAKE her!!! Take lots of pictures!!! Enjoy these times we just lost my mother-in-law a year ago miss her dearly!!! Once they are gone they are GONE make memories!!! And enjoy her while she's here and can still enjoy the magic ! - eeyoreNfam  58.5 #3646 11:35AM
Rent a wheel chair it will give her freedom. And take her on rides like soaring. I did a similar thing not that long ago and fantasmic and woc were a huge hit with her. Just appreciate that everything is going to be slower like getting into and out of ride vehicles, etc. You will both have a blast! - SorcererMky  236.7 #1173 11:36AM
Take her!!! Make magical memories!!! - Pinup Princess  167.4 #2077 11:36AM
Take her, it's amazing how energized people become when they are at DL. I loved taking my mother, great memories now that she has passed on. - GoofyHauntedMansion  24.6 #4780 11:38AM
there is lots for her to do and see! take her to all the parades, shows and slow rides. you can even take her to meet characters and to just people watch ;) - SammyJo  348.7 #430 11:39AM
My grandma used to come with us all the time. She loved people watching and riding the "easy" rides. Wheel chair is a good idea and just start the day with it. Like others said...take lots of pictures and get one of her kissing Mickey! :) - iDreamAboutDumbo  307.4 #587 11:39AM
My grandma (mom's), at the time, was a big daredevil and rode on the rides with us. My other grandma (dad's) who could only get around by wheelchair enjoyed the scenery and just seeing how happy we were at Disneyland. - StephiePooh  572.6 #198 11:39AM
I think you should definitely take her. - kbeenss  181.5 #1883 11:39AM
I think it's a great idea! I went with my whole family to Disneyland and we took my grandma. She's 80 and she had a blast. She had to be in a wheelchair cause her balance sometimes isn't so good and she gets tired fast. But it was one of my favorite memeories. I would love to take her back. We are going to take her to medival ttimes for her birthday this year. She has never gone and loves horse! But my answer is YES take HER!!! - Kittymeowmeow  271.3 #832 11:39AM
Omg, I literally have tears in my eyes! I need to make this happen, thank you guys for ur advice. Any other suggestions? - DisneyRawkz  12.0 #6376 11:49AM
Take her to all the shows! - Princessana08  39.6 #4080 11:59AM
Don't forget you can take her to aladin too! - Mgibson  10.1 #6911 12:08PM
The last time my grandma went she was 94(she's 96 now). The CMs were so nice and helpful. She went on a few rides, and just enjoyed people watching. You will make memories so you should go and enjoy it!! - staceeyl  237.2 #1167 12:09PM
This is exciting! :) - DisneyRawkz  12.0 #6376 1:55PM
That would be super fun for her!!! - scbcrew  138.7 #2513 2:06PM
Take Grandma, she'll love it! And you'lll love seeing her enjoy the simplicity of DL. I have a knee injury which requires me to use a wheelchair at DL sometimes & while I hate using it, I still love being able to be there! - LovinKeno  17.8 #5409 2:08PM
Wheelchair is a must. I am glad I got to go to the DL with my grandma while we still had her around. Miss her now so enjoy your time with her! - Disneymba  39.3 #4089 2:21PM
So I called my Grammy to ask her how she felt about going to DL... She loved the idea, she said she's NEVER been or seen Mickey mouse in person. I'm sooooo excited to bring her to the park with me. If it wasn't for ur guy's encouragement I don't think I would have followed through cuz I don't really have supportive family members. Anywho I should be bringing her to DL like in 2-3 weeks & I'm gonna buy her a Minnie hat. Lol can't wait. - DisneyRawkz  12.0 #6376 10:44PM
aww this is so sweet and awesome! I hope you and your gammy have a great time @DisneyRawkz :) - SkellyMouse  501.3 #240 10:48PM
This is such a great idea. Grammy will have the best time ever! Enjoy and post a picture of you two in the park! :) - BreadAndButterfly  505.3 #236 10:58PM
I took my grandparents a few weeks ago. It was there first time at DL in almost 35 years. They had so much fun! My sister and I planned out exactly what we wanted to do. My sister and I got a GAC for my grandparents, so they didn't have to stand in line in the heat for a long time. We had them ride down Main Street on the horsedrawn car, so they didn't have to deal with the crowds. Also, we picked out some of the newer attractions that weren't there back in 1976 like Pinnochio and Pooh. We rode the train around, cruised on the Jungle Cruise, Storybook Land, and shopped on Main Street, and had lunch at Cafe Orleans. Even though we only went from 10am-3pm, they had sooo much fun and want to go back asap!!! - BaseballMickey_CM  2996.9 #15 11:11PM
Wooooow, BaseballMickey that sounds like tons of fun! I just might have to steal ur idea. I need to plan because I'm so disorganized in the parks I go from Space Mountain to BTMRR to Matterhorn to Indiana Jones To DCA TOT lol I'm all over the place. So planning before hand is a must. - DisneyRawkz  12.0 #6376 11:17PM
My mom is 81 and although she's a total DL lover, she no longer really wants to go because she can't stand for a long time and won't do a wheelchair. Just be sure that you know - and honor - your grandmother's limitations - i.e. if she is unsteady on her feet and may have a hard time getting on/off certain rides; need to sit and rest often (she'll probably love the Abe Lincoln show); or have special dietary requirements. You don't want to embarrass her by "urging" her to do something that she may be uncomfortable with. Then again...if she's in good shape and want to take on the park - go for it! You're a good granddaughter! - msdizmaui  521.6 #226 1:12AM
I sAy take her. The memories you will make will be with you forever. And when u do take her u will not have to live with the thought of ohh man I should have taken her. This way u do take her and I promise u that, your thought and u just spending quality time will make it just as magical! That's how I see everytime I visit the parks. It brings back the memories of when my mom took me and when she got older I took her. We laughed and sang and enjoyed eachothers company. And the Disney magic was just the icing on top. So all in all, take her and listen to what SHE wants to do. But most of all HAVE FUN! Let us know how it goes and take plenty of pictures. - CM_Wallie05  28.6 #4530 1:29AM
My mom wont go anymore. She says it would be to hard on her. It makes me so sad  - SupremeLeader  394.0 #347 1:33AM
Take her. My mom is 77 and we go once a year. We have to take it slow and because of her health she can't go on some of the Eticket rides but we have fun watching the parades, people watching and just generally walking around taking in Disneyland. But I'm happy to be able to share my love of Disney with her. - Krismiss  304.9 #601 1:35AM
You should definitely take her. Its such a joyful experience she will never forget, need I say you won't forget as well. Soarin' Over California is one she would love, Toy Story Midway Mania is another fun ride and there's no need for her to transfer from her wheelchair :) and now that the Little Mermaid is Open that adds another ride to the list :) As for Disneyland Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, Haunted Mansion, POTC although it a bit difficult to get on and off the ride since my grandma can't walk that well, and well my grandmas all time favorite is It's a Small World because she says it makes her feel like she's a little girl all over again :) it makes your day when you see how happy they are. And well just take lots of pictures too. I don't know about your grandma but my grandma loves taking pictures everywhere that way when she's home she can remember the day we spent at The Happiest Place on Earth - Mariabell23_CM  0.4 #53939 3:04AM
My grandma hated it, and was angry the whole time. Even now, 15 years later, she complains, but she complains about everything! When the kids next door mow her lawn, complains. When we show her how to fix her tv (plug it in), complains. If your grandma doesn't mind not going on a lot of rides and enjoys just hanging out, she'll have a good time, but if she's like my grandma, watch out! Plus, you never know about the rides, someone posted a picture of their grandma who had gone on indy, so maybe she still could go on rides - Seacow  429.9 #295 6:38AM
Ask her. If she does then go and have a great time. Buy her some ears and enjoy the day with her - drmnofdsl18  167.8 #2073 6:46AM
Take her and respect any limitations she might have! Record those awesome memories with pictures! My Dad passed away in April at the age of 79 and some of my best memories were our DL trip years ago! - ZipadeeMickey  282.2 #738 6:55AM
You should definitely take her. I took my dad on screamin and tot, he loved it. Btw, my dad is 79. He was 75 at the time when I took him. It really depends on the person. Even if she is a bit more delicate, she would still have a great time on the family rides like potc, any ride in fantasyland, nemo, watch the parades and shows. I think she'll have a lovely time. You should just ask her. - MellyChelly  256.7 #956 7:00AM
Take her enjoy there joy and have fun - weasel  140.9 #2481 7:02AM
My family took our grandma for her 80th. She didn't ride anything but she loved to people watch and go in the stores. She has a scooter thing so she lasted a long time. She even wanted to stay for fantasmic! But she did run over my foot with her wheelchair so becareful! - MissErikaRae_CM  285.5 #713 7:53AM
How sweet, she will like the shows as well. Take her, go for it. - mstiauna27  89.3 #3207 8:21AM
Glad to hear she wants to go! I have such good memories of going with my parents from when I was little to their last visit when they were both close to 80. Mom only liked IASM, HM, and POTC (her fav!). Dad liked the e-ticket rides! Good times for all! - Gia  794.2 #122 10:51AM
I just got back from DL with my 70 yr old dad and he went to ST and TOT and soarin and other rides too. I do suggest a wheel chair of some sort, the walking was a lot for him. I have a picture that I posted of him on TOT with me  - lisaw  96.3 #3122 11:12AM
I went with my 70 year old dad. Do it!! You'll enjoy every moment even if you don't go on the scarey rides! Its all about the DL magic. - Melli_mo  395.7 #342 11:17AM
