I reason I probably won't is due to being laid off and not being able to find a job in 6 months. I love disney! But money is tight. - halloweenonchristmas

@Dave which pass is $3.33 a month?! I can afford that! I think I'm paying like $24 ea per month right now... - RickeyCalifornia

@Rickey I think he meant the difference of $50 cause I had to double read his comment'! - Tataandbeyond
74.8 #3338 7:43AM
Oh I see what you mean! I was like $3 a month! I can def afford that! Lol but when u times it by 3 it's about $10 extra on top of what were already paying which we won't have for that. Unless hubby gets a raise! It makes me so sad cos I've had an AP for 7 years :( - RickeyCalifornia
157.0 #2191 7:50AM
Aww sorry for no AP. Hope your situation changes soon, so u can get it again :) - MsDisneyLove

We are at 5 passes for our family and have to do it the riff raff way....monthly payments, or we wouldn't be able to go. Dave is right...it may be less crowded ;o) - MomWithAJuiceBoxBuzz

Our passes expire in August and we won't be renewing - NikkiMickey
1583.8 #49 7:58AM
We are at 5 APs as well. Expensive, but not over priced. I will renew, but it takes a bite. - Tammilani
44.6 #3863 8:02AM
Everything is more expensive. Just go get groceries or fill up your car. It's just the times, and it sucks. Unfortunately, in this situation, some people are just going to miss out - Kari_Bo_Berry
361.5 #387 8:06AM
We are not renewing either. This was our first year with aps, because of the give a day, get a day promotion last year and a large Disney gift card. We drove down three times, totally worth it, but we can't justify it this year. So bummed, but I come here and see my happy place! - Abbeys_mom

Does anybody know the new price for the premium pass? - Kings75
15.6 #5579 8:19AM
I thought someone said it's gonna be 500 for premium. Starting June 12 - Briana

June 12th I believe it is $499 - Chumash28

I'm on the fence...it's expensive but I know I'll go. - staceeyl
237.2 #1142 8:24AM
We barely renewed ours right before the prices went up, dvd I'm thankful for that, because we were going to wait till summer to renew then decided to make a special trip down for star tours. It does suck that everything is getting more expensive and that disney doesn't give better prices for long term passholders. That's because 80% of guests there (on average) are ap. They don't make that much on ticket sales due to that, so they keep raising it. I remember when the premium passes were only 200, oh the day - Seacow
427.6 #296 8:25AM
I wonder if APs buy as much in the way of food/souvenirs as others do? - ally
440.5 #4 8:28AM
@seacow... I remember when they where $99 for premium in 2001!! My kids and I had them for 4 yrs then I couldn't afford them anymore. Each yr they kept going up and then they reached $300 we were done! Now its just me and this payment plan stuff works out great for me! But its out of control! - shel68
139.7 #2445 8:32AM
@ally when I worked in the stores, they didn't buy souvenirs, but they did buy a lot of pins and vinyls - Seacow
427.6 #296 8:33AM
To all who read Dave's comment as serious, take a deep breathe, he is sarcastic by nature. He is in reality a super nice person. It's very much a Bummer that people can't renew passes!! Think of the sarcasm as a comic relief to a sad moment??
Ok...I hope this helped!!! I don't want anyone feeling un-loved here!!! - JenAnneWho

Just because someone doesn't want to renew their AP does not mean they won't renew it down the road when times are better. I took breaks from my AP a few years ago because money was tight during those college years and I know I wouldn't be able to go as often. Sale thief with going from a premium to socal or deluxe. I think everyone should look at their own financial and personal situation to decide what's best for them. - LisaKL
748.4 #135 8:35AM
@shel68 I thought they were that low too, my parents used to buy us one every year for our christmas presents. (or should I say santa did) lol. Then I started working there in high school and didn't need a pass anymore. By the time I bought myself one, it was at that price. Oh how the times have changed, but knotts prices have lowered this year. - Seacow
427.6 #296 8:37AM
Auz and my pass expire this month. We arent sure when/if we will renew thos year. We know we will likely renew, but its harder for those who live far away from DL. Not only is it $499 for the pass. Its the money for gas, food, etc. It all adds up. Unfortunately, we all arent lucky enough to have a high paying job or the ability to save so we have to sacrafice things here and there. We can make it fine financially... But tack on the extra $150 or so for gas, $50 for food, and whatever for hotel if we cant bum a couch at a friends place. Plus, having to miss work adds up. Its a nice chunk of change we need if we want to come down as frequently as we like to justify buying a pass. Is it worth it? Of course. Can we afford it? Probably. But I think the toughest question is this the smartest financial decision we can make?bIts definitely a sad day when you have to contemplate renewing your ap. I agree that they should offer something a lot better than what they do for long time passholders. - michelledork
658.3 #159 8:41AM
Is the monthly payment too expensive too? I did that during nursing school and would escape to the park for a break and to study. Maybe as a birthday/Christmas gift everyone can chip in? Although I can afford it, my pass has turned into a Christmas gift my parents love to give. It's all we for gifts as a family and then we go that day and spend time together in the park. Anyway, just a thought - KissDclown

For us it depends if Mom deportation hearing goes wrong in September and she is forced to leave the country. Also, the cost of parking has to go into the equation. It is interesting that on the DL website that the price of a one day pass is showen as $76 thru December 31, 2011. It would be interesting if that is not adhered to. - sr citizen space ranger

Renewed my Deluxe AP at reunion. Hope to get a chance to use it again. Do they have a discount this year if you renew before expiration? - E-Ticket

We live in Arizona and wish we they had a payment plan for outside of socal residents
- dsnyfam4

disney is expensive even with an annual pass so when we go we always eat before the park and after we leave and try not to buy anything while we are there....umm we try - candycane
7.4 #7953 8:52AM
@halloweenonchristmas- I'm the same way. Some people are quick to judge, especially on your ranking. I have been on this site since December but I dont go to the parks weekly and enter wait times to get a higher boost and I don't always comment on EVERYTHING like some do so my score isn't that high either. But I feel the same way. We don't live in so cal so we don't get the monthly payment plan option like others. And yes, gas, food, hotel prices and time off work all take in account for being able to afford the price jump. Yes, it did seem like the price just went up last year also but it seems like now every year it will go up. We have a pass this year but we only renew it every other year. We can afford it also but sometimes other things come up, like kid stuff or house stuff, so we decide to wait until the next year - brodysmommy
243.7 #1064 8:54AM
After reading all these posts, I have come to the conclusion that the cost of the annual pass is a big deal, but it is not the biggest issue. It's the cost of everything else. When you combine food, gas, and all other Disney visit expenses, it adds up. Consider this, though: An annual pass is about $1.50 per day. How many of us spent two or three times that each day on Starbucks, cigarettes, or fast food last year? In this economy, we may have to sacrifice a bit to feed our Disney cravings. - DoleWhipComa

My wife and I won't be renewing ours. We live in Oregon and my wife just isn't wanting to go often enough to make it worth the price : ( - fletch

I am so willing to buy something from the Home Shopping network for $500 using 4-month flex pay yet I look at $500 divided over a year and I think wow that is a lot of money. Lol. - HotDiggityDogDaddy

I actually have looked at transferring jobs to socal so we could do the payment plan .....anybody in need of a Marketing and Admission Director for Skilled Nursing Facility...LOL! - dsnyfam4

On some days, my $1.50 chicken nuggets cravings win over my Disney cravings.... - LisaKL
748.4 #135 9:12AM
I agree DoleWhipComa, but when you live in Arizona like us, it costs us about $1,000 for three of us with tickets, gas, food and hotel. We stay at low price hotels and we bring food for breakfast and snacks in the park. - MikeyMouse
63.8 #3513 9:15AM
I may not be renewing, with cut hrs and school to pay for I may just get a so cal pass or renew my other passes - DisneyVillain
355.8 #400 9:16AM
@MikeyMouse: Exactly. My wife an I live in Las Vegas. If we were to take three or four trips a year to Disneyland, the cumulative costs are quite high. 2010 was "The Year of Disney" for us. 2011 was not. Maybe next year, huh? - DoleWhipComa
14.4 #5763 9:22AM
We also have 5 premium passes. I let them expire when they came up but I couldn't stand not have them so we got them back.monthly payments. Totally worth it!!! - loudogg

I'm glad I was able to renew before this. Looks like it's time to start saving now for next year! I'm glad I live close enough that a trip to the parks doesn't cost much more than the admission. - LilSterner

I only buy one premium and this new price increase is a huge turn off - mstiauna27
89.3 #3152 9:48AM
I'm buying another one today before the increase tomorrow, on our way to the park now cause we can't credit our hopper towards the ap online or get credit for at a later time. CM said transaction has to be completed today, so up to the park we GO!!!! - MaheaLuvsDisney

Until the monthly payments option goes away (which I hope it never will), we will be lucky enough to have our APs. - LBChica

Well i still want to get our AP. We are going in december so i have 6months to save & if i can save the extra for the AP then im getting them. IF my boyfriend okays it. He makes the money so he has final say :) - Jennabennabofenna
32.2 #4270 9:59AM
If you look at Disney's justification for the price hike its because accordong to the Orange county register " the research says that the prices are excellent for the value of the entertainment..." Meaning the survey they ask people at random and the entrance or park exit. What we have to do is do the survey when asked and respond too expensive and not a good value for the money and let's see what kind of excuse they use next year. - gabes0969
310.8 #555 10:03AM
So here's a thought for folks with multiple passes per household...you could try spreading out your purchases so it's not such a bit hit all at once? Like get one every other month? Not the most convenient but would be easier on the paycheck. Just my $0.27. - iDreamAboutDumbo
307.3 #574 10:16AM
I'm on the fence at this point. I have until December to decide. A big mot8vator for us this year has been star Tours...we'll see. - ToshiStation

We have the so cal select passes & now that 1 of us has a job will be renewing this year. Thinking about upgrading to the next one up, but now that prices have gone up, we are not sure..does anyone know how much parking will be?? - MisFit.Mouse

I didn't see any information on an increase in parking fees but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Should be more information on the AP website tomorrow. - sr citizen space ranger

Yeah I didn't see one either but in the article it did state the parking was going up..ill be checking the website if not I bet someone on here will post - MisFit.Mouse

I told myself I wouldn't after they raised prices last year...and then I found Mw. Instead of letting it expire, I upgraded back to premium! Lol! Disney wins. - bluefairy
627.1 #174 11:16AM
So after reading everyones comments. I don't think it's so much about the AP prices going up it's about the gas, the parking, hotels, time off work, food and so on. I just worry about paying my pass and when I read a few comments saying they weren't going to renew because of the number of passes they would have to buy it bums me out. There's nothing better then going to Disneyland when your a kid. Shoot sometimes I wish I could be 8 again when I go to the park. - halloweenonchristmas

I will be dropping the 2000 for our 4 passes next year. Worth the expense to see happiness on my kids faces - unclebeezy

I remember when we last bought our Premium AP it was $319 I can't believe how much its gone up ! - WaltSentMe
316.7 #539 11:24AM
@LBChica, hopefully they won't get rid of payment plans. I'm doubtful they would do that if it's working so well, but you never know. The payment plan is the ONLY reason why this single mom with two kids can get her family's APs. - nittywitty
194.9 #1699 11:35AM
