Ugh! Maybe one day it'll go down? Yeah right fat chance! I'm a sucker I'll just kepp forking my cash over. Maybe they should add some sort of incentive like they did a couple years ago. - Clu2.0
773.0 #126 1:46PM
Yeah, I'm happy we renewed in May. Next year is going to suck paying the extra $40 per pass....oh well...it's worth it! - kimmie-d
23.3 #4783 1:46PM
Guess DL and WDW didn't feel the economy hit like we all did. - Knik
449.4 #274 1:47PM
$200 for the cheapest pass...but we all knew sooner or later it was gonna happen. Seems like they raise the prices every june - ERICKA

38.6 #4034 1:50PM
Great. Too bad the stock does not go up like the pass prices do. - Disneymba
39.3 #4010 1:50PM
Well, they did modify the purchases discount to apply for all purchases, regardless of price & not just those over $10 (at least on the Premium that I know of). Hopefully, there will be other incentives...maybe. 8( - SergZak

Thanks for the heads up! Haven't bought our park hoppers for next weeks trip yet, now I will buy them before the 12th. - ilovemickey8

Unreal! Wow. 5Benjamins for a premium. Better buy it before Sunday. It's Disney I suppose they can do anything. - 5Disney5
7.6 #7788 2:17PM
If you go more than ten times a year it's still pretty good!!! - Rob512
755.1 #134 2:19PM
It really is still an exceptional bargain. Especially for those of us that go (too?) often. If they were too affordable, the park would be way too crowded. I know there will come a year it is not feasible for us either. And that's ok. It is a luxury :) - PieRatAL
619.7 #176 2:19PM
Wow! $500 for premium? Might as well pay $200 more and get the pass for both CA and FL pass - DisneyRox
54.4 #3665 2:21PM
Annual pass is still a great deal, I'll renew mine again. - Tammilani
44.6 #3855 2:22PM
They should have a reward system for AP holders. Each year you renew, you get $20 off as a "thank you." Lord knows we spend a bunch inside the parks! - susieQzee
480.6 #245 2:24PM
Gotta love Disney annual inflation... - Ht
614.0 #177 2:25PM
My ap exp date is july 11 do u know if i can renew early before price increase? - luvsariel

I remember paying $389 for a premium. Lol. It's all good though, Disney never grows old. - 5Disney5
7.6 #7788 2:27PM
Ouchy!! It's an almost $60 increase for the 6 day hopper pass.
No likey Disney!! It's tough being a Disney kook! - DisneyFanZoe
1096.7 #75 2:28PM
I think the price is fair. For people who go all the time . My pass this year has 30 visit . So making sure that you get everything out of your pass - Disneybaldie

I love Disneyland but geez, this is extortion. - CadaverousPallor
263.5 #882 2:30PM
@ luvsariel u can renew 30 days prior to the expiration... do it now! Haha I can't renew till July 10 or I would so do it now! - loriLUHV
15.2 #5629 2:32PM
Ouch. If they're going to do that, they should lower the prices of stuff INSIDE the parks, or increase the AP discount - Kari_Bo_Berry
361.5 #386 2:33PM
This is what happens when you don't return the Star Tour glasses :( nah jk :p lol .. this sucks... - Dreamer

Ahhh I better renew our passes now I guess.. ;( we all knew prices were going up but we just didn't know how much or when, now we know. My wallet will be hurting now lol - Ridaz65o
265.3 #867 2:42PM
My question is when will the prices top out? When is it just too much and people stop paying it. Clearly people are still buying them or they wouldn't keep increasing it. - Mimmy
1405.4 #57 2:48PM
STRIKE! lol just kidding! - Knik

517.1 #225 2:53PM
I wish they'd increase the prices more & get rid of the payment plan. Theres been a sharp increase of riff raff ever since the payment plans inception...And c'mon, don't be naive people, the price can and will never top off. - LastoftheJedi76
0.1 #73326 2:59PM
Riff raff because of the payment plan? - WeLoveDisneyland
413.1 #311 3:01PM
I don't think at 500 bucks a POP you're getting a lot of riff raff. Nor do I believe it naive to think the price may eventually top off. At some point they reach a price where the number of people buying/renewing passes will start to decline. - Mimmy
1405.4 #57 3:05PM
Uhhh no thanks I need that payment plan or else It I don't think I would have a ap :/ - Dreamer
276.1 #763 3:07PM
Disney is making it almost impossible for people with little means able to enjoy Disneyland. Bummer. - MissErikaRae_CM
285.5 #696 3:08PM
I think they want less ap's so they will keep it going up until there are less. They don't make money on ap vs regular tickets - Lovetherat
6.3 #8732 3:09PM
^The riff raff can get in for $10 - $20 a month. It can't top off because there will always be a stronger demand than the previous year. SoCal will always grow in population - while maybe 5 people don't buy at this price, there will be 10 people who will. - LastoftheJedi76
0.1 #73326 3:10PM
Those same people can just save 20/month and then buy a pass. It's no different. - Mimmy
1405.4 #57 3:15PM
That's a horrible comment jedi - WeLoveDisneyland
413.1 #311 3:16PM
Riff raff are those less fortunate than you jedi that cant pay straight up? - WeLoveDisneyland

As of right now I can't afford this :(. I will wait till I'm done with school :):) - Madi
204.1 #1570 3:21PM
I will GLADLY pay $500.00 a person for wholesome family entertainment!! Have you been to your local fair? Yeah talk about riff raff. DL security works hard to keep riff raff out of the parks and I greatly appreciate their hard work! So bring on the higher monthly payment!! I'm ready for it. - MissyluvsDisneyland
357.6 #394 3:23PM
Agreed. Some of us don't have the means to get an ap straight up. - Dreamer
276.1 #763 3:24PM
Yeah I agree with WeLoveDisnseyland. Jedi That was a horrible comment. This may be our last year then as well. And I don't really consider myself riff raff. - kbeenss

I'm a riff raff because I have the monthly payments? Hahahahaha! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Thanks for the laugh. Sincerely, RiffRaffStreetRat - LBChica

What's a riff raff. Haha well if I'm one then that's fine with me. I'll OWN that title :) - Madi
204.1 #1570 3:34PM
I think I need to change my MW name to riffraffonmonthlypaymentplan! - MissyluvsDisneyland
357.6 #394 3:35PM
If a "RiffRaff" is someone who works hard & saves to be able to afford the monthly payments for APs for a family of 12 whose ages range from 62 down to 3 than I'M PROUD TO SAY I'M RIFF RAFF TOO!! - ZMaleficent
235.5 #1158 3:39PM
I guess I'm riff raff too :( too bad I don't take offend nor do I really care haha as long as I get to go to DL I am good! - Dreamer
276.1 #763 3:39PM
I was going to buy my pass on Tuesday at the park but now I'm buying it online today to save myself 40 bucks. Thank god for mousewait or I would have never known about this til it was too late! :) - kaleighmungo

WOW!! That is so costly...the prices have jumped so high! From the lay off's at the studio & now this. Gee, I am happy I have a few more months to save for my renewal. Yikes!! - AllisonG
6.9 #8241 3:42PM
Have u personally or did Disney do a study jedi recently that DL has more riff raff? Did the study conclude the all riff raff consist of the people on the payment plan? If not your comment sounds like you are stereotyping. You will find most of us MWs are on payment plans. - WeLoveDisneyland

*raises and waves hand* I too am Riff Raff! ;o) - MomWithAJuiceBoxBuzz

Thanks for posting Princess Carmen! I'll renew this weekend then. - Tom
3820.6 #7 3:56PM
It is a bad economic time and to increase any price would seem counterproductive, so I would guess their energy costs have increased as all of ours have and they pass that cost along. Very hard to take though. - 2ndStar2theRight
24.5 #4687 4:01PM
Last year I did the same thing. I renewed early to beat the price hike. Between the lower renewal price you get if your pass did not expire passed 30 days, and the early renewal discount, my premium was $380. - Tom
3820.6 #7 4:04PM
I'm kinda mad about this...who.can afford an 80 one day ticket? Not a college student :( looks like I will be getting the so cal pass next year or maybe universal studios for me....yes I said it. I just hope they add more perks to the pass - DisneyVillain
355.8 #399 4:17PM
This is insane, maybe DL is trying to get rid of all the AP holders. If they take away the pmt plan then that's exactly what they are trying to do, oh well I just hope they increase and add more befits! - LAHaPpY13420
43.0 #3901 4:21PM
Disney is not greedy. They are a public corporation who has to answer to stockholders like any other corporation. Unfortunately they have to make money. New attractions cost money. I personally think $500 is still a bargain for 365 days. Think about it if you only use the pass 10 days a year, that is only $50 a day which is still cheaper than going to carnival and riding rides. - Dahulagirl
1053.2 #80 4:32PM
Yay for Riff Raff!!! ^_^ - MsNick
55.9 #3631 4:40PM
@DV - If you go to Universal, we will be forced to strip you of your golden ears!! Dont do it!! lol - MsNick
55.9 #3631 4:41PM
Hahaha sorry msnick! Well I already have a pass to universal....shhh. I will still be with Disney!! Just have to downgrade next year that's all :( I really don't want to but I need to budget right - DisneyVillain

334.9 #448 4:47PM
They are really making in harder for familys to afford making the trip to the parks. Its money well spent YES but alot of people are really strugglin right now. - donnievegas
1127.5 #72 4:51PM
Disney should change their logo after this to "most expensive theme park on earth" - pirateslife4me

690.3 #145 6:18PM
I'll still buy a premium. It's worth it for me. - KissDclown
1088.1 #77 6:27PM
@Dahulagirl, you're right, I never thought of it like that! But I still think Disney is greedy lol I wouldn't mind paying the raised admission prices if I didn't have to pay $6.25 for one hot dog!!! $4 for one churro, $10 for an okay burger and like 10 fries, not even a drink! I know I can bring my own food in (which I do most of the time) but still. And the souvenir prices are sky high, as well as $15 parking, yikes! - RickeyCalifornia
157.0 #2190 6:37PM
I don't mean to dis your company though, I do love Disney and will still continue to pay the prices, I just think they are a bit greedy lol I know how it feels though when people talk bad about the company that's done so much for you, I hate when people do that about in n out because they take such good care of us - RickeyCalifornia
157.0 #2190 6:49PM
Just found out you must be 40 days or less to expiration to renew. Oh well. Funny thing is the person at the window and her supervisor didn't know about a price hike coming in a couple of days. MWrs are smart! - Tom
3820.6 #7 6:50PM
A perk of the premium pass is parking is free. I will never have any pass but premium ever again. And i don't have payments because We were fortunate enough to be able to afford to buy ours outright but calling people with the payment plan Riff RAff is just RUDE! Jedi- do you pay a house payment, or a car payment, or ever buy anything with a credit card? What's the difference? - Mrsblue
692.4 #144 6:52PM
I just renewed ours today to save that extra money. 439 n 309 for husband. One month early.. does it still expire next year on our original date or would that b todays date? - luvsariel
213.5 #1435 6:53PM
@Dave that is true but when you look at the big picture its a big change...I'm on monthly payments but that extra increase could be used for school right now for me in this case - DisneyVillain
355.8 #399 6:55PM
It's the date your pass expires, not the day you buy if you renew early. - Tom
3820.6 #7 6:55PM
If the kids APs were slightly less $ it wouldn't be such a big amount, but each pass increase adds up...multiply the difference by 3. Ouch - ToshiStation
53.5 #3679 6:58PM
Rickey- I am disappointed you say that, because it was the benefits from that greedy company that got your cousins 9 free admissions that would have cost your family $900. - Dahulagirl
1053.2 #80 7:03PM
That is true Dahulagirl. - luvsariel
213.5 #1435 7:07PM
Wow I'm on the payment plan and I'm not riff raff. The less people renewing their pass means less time I spend waiting in line - ERICKA
491.4 #242 7:08PM
@Dahulagirl another true point! Ok now I feel bad. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hate the prices of everything once you get inside the park, because for us po' folk it breaks the bank! but yes they do give CMs nice benefits and I'm the one deciding to pay the prices, no one is forcing me. I am very thankful for the contributions made by you and Sean to help the kids get in because of your cm benefits. But without those, like you said, would've cost about $900 for us regular folk :( I do know they treat CMs well and Thats one thing i love that about Disney :) - RickeyCalifornia

Disneyland is like health care providers and we the guest are like Medicare. raise as much as u can get away with cus u know we'll pay. - WeLoveDisneyland
413.1 #311 7:11PM
So when u renew ur pass u dont get to keep the price u started at? - Kris10
18.3 #5230 7:13PM
You guys in SoCal are so lucky to have the lower passes and payment plan options. As it stands now, we may not be able to renew even down to Deluxe. I understand about inflation and the economy--we knew when the recession hit that inflation would grow exponentially very quickly. It's just a disappointing reality because DL has been such a special escape for us. I'm hoping we will be able to do the large payment up front, but we might not :(. I really wish they would extend some of the opportunities they give to SoCal residents to the rest of us. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
435.8 #283 7:13PM
Hahaha, I wish Kris!! I'd only be paying 150 for a premium if that were true! - Mimmy
1405.4 #57 7:15PM
It's a bummer that NorCal residents don't get the payment plan option, all of Florida gets it. But, we do have a lot more people here. - speedracer17
290.3 #667 7:18PM
$500 is just one 3 day trip to DL for me. I Live in TX. I would gladly pay more than that if I could live out there and go all year long. Y'all are so lucky and don't even realize. - Dashyboy
10.5 #6603 7:18PM
I know I'm a noob to MW, but it was pretty mean and presumptuous to say that those on the payment plan are "RiffRaf" without knowing each and every person on MW and his/her financial status. When does a person quit being "RiffRaff?" Is it owning 1 home or 2? Yearly income? How many cars free and clear? 1,2,3,4 or 5? The payment plan allows DL to be more affordable to more people. Sounds like good business to me. I'm sure the price has gone up just like everything. It cost more to truck food and drinks in. I'm sure the CM would like to continue to stay employed, and hopefully get raises like I do. Just a very mean remark to say. Kind of surprised, but not shocked it was on MW. - Sugarbuzz
44.3 #3869 7:20PM
why are people crying??? if us mw'ers r there every week.... Disney loses money cuz of us lol if you buy the new "$500" AP and you go every single week of the year thats 52*$80=$4160 and thats not including the free parking which comes in your AP, plus all the perks in the AP top discounts, special AP events.... the AP magazine... etc...... im still gonna break out my money for Disney!! so will u pay your $500 or your $4160+ - VinylSteve
515.4 #226 7:21PM

491.4 #242 7:22PM
Thank you first of all for the information.I will definitely renew my pass. Of course I am not thrilled about a price increase; however the happiness that is derived from this wonderful corporation is priceless to me.I think the passports are well worth it and I have made mine a priority in my budget! - Twinklelashes
144.4 #2373 7:22PM
I appreciate the fact that I do get the opportunity for a monthly payment plan... But I'm also thankful to get a tax return to put a hefty Down Payment on my pass! there's so many people, and resources that Disney has to tap into to keep that park running that I know my money is getting well spent! - bellapistola
156.2 #2206 7:23PM
@vinylsteve, your comment is semi-true but if you think about all the money we spend on souvenirs and food while in the parks I still think it evens it out. Plus think about all the APs who buy a pass and use it maybe 3 or 4 times in one year - RickeyCalifornia
157.0 #2190 7:24PM
No one on any payment plan is Riff Raff. If that was the case everyone with a car, house, or credit card payments would be considered Riff Raff. Thank you for the funniest comment of the day!!!! - Dahulagirl
1053.2 #80 7:25PM
I was on the payment plan during nursing school. It is a great option for those that can't come up with the full price upfront. That doesn't make them riff raff. it's equivalent to you charging something and not paying the purchase off when the bill comes. Does that make you a riff raff? - KissDclown
1088.1 #77 7:25PM
We all wish the prices were lower!!! I'm In school and Its been taking me
Months to get ready to put that money aside for a pass! But I won't ever take the CMs or Disney for granted!!! You can't put a price on the happiness tht Disneyland gives me!!! Come
On I get excited just riding the tram! price hikes are always gonna happen but the magic is what bring us all back!!! - rachyboo
72.7 #3360 7:26PM
@RickeyCalifornia well in my case Disney loses money on me hahahaha or us who are at the parks every week.... and sneak in some munchies from 7 elev lol - VinylSteve
515.4 #226 7:28PM
Lol @ the "riff raff" comment! I wish I could be riff raff, but I live in the wrong zip code :). The price increase is a result of inflation--it's part of our bad economy. It's disappointing, but a reality we are facing for goods and services everywhere, not just at DL. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
435.8 #283 7:28PM
Very good point Rachyboo! Ok I take back everything I said now! I guess because I am so spoiled that I get to visit the parks all the time I forget about the importance of the magic. It would be nice if it were more affordable, but I know I'd still pay whatever they'd charge. And as for my comment about not renewing, I only say that because it is no longer practical for us (with having a new baby) to be able to pay for that luxury now. We would have to buy my daughter a pass too because she will be 3 next year and we can't afford it :(( - RickeyCalifornia
157.0 #2190 7:31PM
@DisneyVill if you go to Universal.... and go on jurassic park.... with ur ears on..... you will get eaten by the dinosaurs.... trust me lol Disney is so tight that they even have a hidden mickey at a competing theme park :p - VinylSteve
515.4 #226 7:31PM
I must be lower than riff raff! I don't believe the price hike is due to the economy and inflation. They've been raising prices yearly for several years now. It's getting to rich for me and my family. This was sad news. - jjdq

It's too bad..... They have started pricing the average household out of being AP's. I think its sad! They just had a huge price increase. - luvlilo
19.9 #5059 7:31PM
I wish we could be on a payment plan, but we are out of state. We purchased our package through Costco with 5 day hoppers which we are going to upgrade to AP's when we get to the parks next month. Hubby called DL today to see if we can upgrade without being there, but we were told no. So we'll end up paying almost $200 more for the 4 of us :(. But, still cheaper doing it this way, instead of coming back in December and paying $250 per person for 5 day hoppers. - dizzycat1969
132.9 #40 7:32PM
@DV - ok fine, its ok to have both passes. But if u start liking Universal over DL, then you're handing over those ears lol! - MsNick

I live in N. Cal...I think we should have a monthly payment too..that is all :)! - peacelovemickey

To put it simply, aside from all the magic and joy, Disney is still a company and subject to the same effects of a rocky economy just like everyone else. And, honestly, I'd rather see guests having to pay a little extra per year than see my fellow CMs, and myself included, lose their jobs. - Experiment818

I know this stinks but in all reality $40-$50 Is not that much to re budget for. Its 4 pins, one nice meal, or 5 popcorns. Cut out eating in the park one day and your covered! Small price to pay for those that live right around the corner! - akpoppins
243.3 #1065 7:48PM
Sick about it...but I get to go and upgrade tomorrow. It's probably going to be a mad house at the AP center - bagglady
342.9 #425 7:50PM
Me too 818!!! The joy my kids get from our APs is priceless! So I will pay what ever amount of $ Disney raises the price to now and for my grandchildren in the distant distant future because you can't put a pricetag on memories. - Mrsblue

People need to realize that Disney is not a non-profit. No entity starts a company to not make money. In that sense they are under zero obligation to make sure the parks are affordable to everyone. Going to an amusement park is purely a luxury. Yes, we all wish prices were lower so every single person could go but that is not reality. The DLR expansion alone costs 1 Billion. Where is that money going to come from? Tinkerbelle? - Dahulagirl

I'm SO glad I bought my AP last month! - MarieC
265.5 #866 7:55PM
We should all feel blessed to even have or had passes to the parks. I personally know people who struggle to put food on the table. - ERICKA
491.4 #242 7:56PM
I'm fortunate that it's just myself (premium ap) and my husband (so cal) so the price hike isn't that great for us..but I definitely feel sorry for families with a couple or more kids. It's much more difficult for them! - mikeyas

Yes, good points Dahula and PE! - Spoonful_O_Sugar
435.8 #283 7:58PM
Well said Dahula! :) the price increase seems like a lot to us po' people but in reality price is going up for everything. I love DL! I will continue to be a APH! :) - DisneyRawkz

Amen PE! I am actually greatful that that an increase in our AP prices is all anybody has to worry about. A Disney worry is a much better worry to have then not being able to buy groceries. Perspective? - Mrsblue
692.4 #144 8:01PM
That sucks because the way the economy is, they should be finding a way to make things cheaper or easier to go. Because a lot of people cant afford it. - bjbvader

I am much more concerned with ill people being able to afford medication than if someone can afford to buy an annual pass to Disneyland. - Dahulagirl

We just picked up our APs last month, but come December, it will be painful when we bring the kids.

With the prices going up again and me getting laid off next month I dont think I'm going to be able to renew our APs - mommyland
289.4 #670 9:27PM
They are raising prices too often and too much at one time. If it keeps up people will stop going again. I understand some increase. They employee alot of people, but small increases please!! - thumpur

1096.7 #75 9:33PM
That's true PE, I personally feel very fortunate. But I'll be renewing I'm sure. That's just the thing, it's Disneyland and whatever they charge people will pay. Despite the economy & rising price of admission the parks are rarely empty anymore even during the off season. - LAFDWifey
81.5 #3257 9:43PM
not sure we'll be able to renew in Dec especially since I didn't get a tax return this year... I'm gonna try like heck though - Keala76

As much as I hate the price increase I'll be renewing come November. - Krismiss

As I watched the AWESOME. Fireworks show, and then the very amazing Fantasmic I knew, paying a little extra is when it all boils down, worth it! There is nothing that compares to Disney!!! - JenAnneWho

I couldn't renew my pass on line so I I went to DCA and saved $60 tonight. Plus I rode TSMM, saw Electronica, rode the train and enjoyed the fireworks. I think it's worth it and no interest on the monthly payments. - rainbowlite

This conversation us getting way out of hand. Face it, we'll all still renew our passes. But raising the rates twice in the same year is going a bit too far. Castmembers that try to say it's the economy are wrong. I go all the time to the parks. This year they seemed busier during the off season than ever before. I am sure that is a sign that the summer crowds will be almost unbearable. Our rates are going up for one reason only. They are spending a fortune on California Adventure and they would like to start getting that money back ahead of time. If people would like to complain, they have that right. We might be loyal Disney fans, but that doesn't mean we have to like corporate decisions. And castmembers shouldn't try to make people that complain feel guilty. I still love you all, but let these people vent. I will still renew my premium passes next Feb. I might grumble a little, but I know that as often as we go, it is still a great deal. But like someone else said, there will be a breaking point some year down the road where the decisions of some corporate person, who has stopped thinking of nothing but profits and bonuses, will cause a decline in the sales of Annual passes. We are their bread & butter. We spend the most money in the parks because we are such diehard fans. I hope someone in that boardroom realizes that before it's too late. - wg4ever

I think that you all are lucky to live close enough to buy an AP and go all the time. Want to know what it costs just for me and my son to go once a year!?! Let's start out with our round trip airfare at $526 x 2 (actually a good price!). Then there's baggage fees and cab fares and hotel and food for 6 days! It's nuts...but totally worth it!!! There's still no place that I'd rather go! I say consider yourselves lucky! - msdizmaui

Oh... forgot to mention that I crack up when I read someone get upset at the price of a corndog. Last time I checked a value meal at McD's are close to $8 with tax - which would you rather have?!? - msdizmaui

I wish they would open up the so cal ap's to las vegans, half the people here are from so cal. They would be perfect for us, we like to go in the off season during the midler of the week. Las Vegas is really just an extension of so cal, isn't it. - Vegaspooh
