Sorry this is completely off the topic of Disney, but has anyone been to Mexico lately? I'm going to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta in a couple weeks and with everything I've been hearing on the news, I'm honestly a little nervous and would like to be able to actually talk to someone that's been there lol.
Not recently, but I went to Mazatlan for my senior trip in 2000. Even then, it was...weird. I wouldn't recommend walking around by yourself, or even in pairs. Stick to groups of three or four or more if you can. And I would encourage you- if you drink- to not get smashed. People like take advantage of drunk people down there, financially or otherwise. I'm sure it could be tons of fun, but from the experience I had, I wouldn't go back. - TandAlly

Local news here in Vancouver is that one of our locals was just murdered down in Puerto Vallarta. Mexico has not had a great deal of positive press lately. - proudcanuck

You should be okay in Puerto Vallarta since it is patrolled by the Navy (the only military branch that is not corrupt) as for Guadalajara just ask the locals...my best advice try not to speak too much English when you are in public and if your Spanish is bad just let someone else do the talking especially during taxi rides - MozPrincess

iv been to Puerto & Cabo (last 2-3 yrs) & well back then it wasnt as scary as it is now but what we usualy did was just stay in the hotel bcuz there is always something to do in there & the only time wed really go out was to eat or get an ice cream. . but im not sure of Guadalajara, my Gpa is there but we hardly talk to him & listen to TandAllys advice aswell - SugarBumpkins

^lol!!!!!!!!!! I would just make sure u don't speak English out there, don't bring anything expensive or jewelry, and don't text on your iPhone constantly. All for safety measures :) that's what my mom always tells me to do - CMMinnieCouture

I just came back about a month ago. Make sure someone you know picks you up from the airport! Don't wear jewelry and make sure you don't look like you have money. Watch what you spend people actually watch you. Make sure your never alone! Have fun and don't look stressed! - mommyland
