So what's the difference between people looking at someone weird for planking and looking at someone else weird because they're laughing really loud because they're having fun? I've been at the parks with MWers many times, and we've gotten the stink eye because we were enjoying ourselves an having FUN. I also get stared at in public because my husband is deaf and uses sign language. Because others stare at him and are uncomfortable, he should stop signing in public? To each his own, if I am personally not being harmed then do your planking. I might get a good chuckle if it looks just downright ridiculous - LBChica

Yeah guys how dare you have fun at disneyland. There are children there and what kind of example are you adults setting? I personaly think its refreshing to see adults having fun.after all it is disneyland! I would much rather explain planking to my kids then have to give a lesson on anatomy because the girl in line next to us left nothing to the imagination when she picked out her clothes that morning. This is a thread about me I can comment all I want. I see many people do quote unquote socially and morally bad things in the parks, first and foremost staring at people that are different than they are (i.e. People in a wheelchair). One would be best be better off concentrating on teaching their children about diversity than how planking is wrong. If seeing someone planking is the worst thing your children see in their daily life then consider them lucky. Btw, have your children ever experienced you going over the speed limit? Just wondering, because then you need to explain to them how doing something illegal is wrong. - Dahulagirl

I am BLOWN away by the people that think planking is so inappropriate! What is inappropriate about it?!?! I was lauging so hard at the pics yesterday, and my son came over to check it out. So we sat and looked through them together, it was not uncomfortable for either of us. I told him it's a game, to lay down in weird places and take a pic of it. This also was not uncomfortable. He thought it was silly, and wanted to try it! So he planked on our big green Duplo bin, with a big cheesy grin while I took a picture! I definitely did not feel like he was being inappropriate. With all of the things kids are exposed to these days that are WILDLY INAPPROPRIATE, you would think more parents would have some appreciation for a little harmless fun! - TandAlly

the only times I have ever felt uncomfortable seeing someone planking is when it's extremely dangerous/a fall has the potential to be life threatening (on a high ledge, cliff - yes it's happened, balcony railing, etc). in fact a man in Australia recently died by falling seven stories from a balcony while planking. the planking Ive seen at the parks and in photos on MW have all been innocent and non life threatening... so I have trouble grasping the idea that these things really disturb some people and force them to "shield" their children from it. the reactions from bystanders are the funniest part IMO... Id also like to add how awesome and refreshing it is to see people my age & older having fun and not taking themselves so seriously. anywho, that's my $0.02.. keep on planking so long as you're being safe... - moonwalker
