SPOILER~ ARIEL'S Undersea Adventure- So today I went on Disney
California Adventure's newest attraction based off of the 1989 film
"The Little Mermaid", "Ariel's Undersea Adventure". Since I haven't
been over to that area of DCA in a few months, it was weird, but nice
to finally not see any construction walls. The building looks
fantastic! The building itself captures the old and rustic
California look and provides a smooth transition from the peace of
Grizzly Peak to the high-energy of Paradise Pier. Also, I personally
haven't seen the film in many years, so I kind of went in with an open
mind to see if the attraction would remind me of the story. Here it
goes: The queue starts underneath the tower that used to by "Golden
Dreams". Also, its where the wait time board is located. The queue
does not resemble the Little Mermaid theme right away, but sets the
tone with the colors and decor. The walk ways are outlined with aqua
blue tile with many decorations. Above, look for the "Hidden
Mickeys". The line itself moved quickly because of the attraction
(I'll get to that later). As the lines wraps around the building and
enters the main building, you walk into this room that has more "water
themed" decor and soon a CM will assist you to board your "shell"
vehicle. Disney decided to use their famous Omni-mover vehicle system
again, in order to move the crowds faster (also seen in the Haunted
Mansion). As you load your shell, Scuttle greets you and starts your
journey under the sea. Since I don't want to give everything away,
I'll say this about the rest: along the way, you will see your
favorite characters from the film and will hear the famous music that
we all still enjoy. The entire ride was about 4:30-5:00 minutes long,
depending on how fast the CMs load the crowds. The animation and
technology is amazing and the movement of the characters really look
like their "swimming". It was really fun to ride this attraction
today, from being apart of a "CM only event" to being some of the
first to experience it. I would definitely ride "Ariel's Undersea
Adventure" again, only if the line was less than 30 minutes long.
FYI: I did not see any Fastpass signs or distribution center, so it
looks like it won't be a Fastpass attraction. Hope I didn't spoil too
much...
You always do SUCH a great job! I really enjoy your posts and stories. Can't wait to see this!! By the way, what was your first CM-only attraction? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

Great review!! I really loved it yesterday but found that a lot of Imagineers were disappointed with it and the accuracy of Ariel's appearance. I didn't feel that way at all. - EnchantingErin
