Has anyone tried to make cake pops? I am looking at a website (bakerella.com) and it looks really fun! This author/blogger even made Disney inspired ones! I kind of want to try making them.
My cousin does. Really easy. - Elaine

Is it as easy as it looks? And is Michaels the best spot to buy the supplies (sticks, etc)? I'm kind of wanting to go all out and try and make the Stitch, Mickey, Minnie ones. - StephiePooh

It is not quite as easy as it looks, but it's not horrible. Up here in Spokane, michaels is the best place to buy supplies. Sometimes I'll pick up a few things at walmart. I use the cake recipe in the back of the book, not boxed, and instead of frosting I make chocolate ganache (it's easy). I have not made any Disney-themed pops, so you should def post pics! - TandAlly

If you have any more questions I'm happy to help! On here, or you can text me! A girlfriend and I sell them at a local coffee shop during the holidays so I have a little experience :) we've made bunnies and chicks, Santa hats, Xmas trees, teddy bears, reindeer (my favorites), owls, cupcakes, hearts, mice, just to name a few it's pretty fun! - TandAlly

I make them too and I do exactly what TandAlly does! I think using frosting tastes awful. Just take a bag of Chocolate chips and add 1/2 cup of heavy cream heat it 30 seconds at a time and stir till it's melted then let it cool to room temperature. Use about half of it with the crumbled cake instead of frosting. - Calypso

I've never tried them, but I've read the recipe and it doesn't appear to be too difficult. Let us know how they turn out! - AlishaSkellington

I'm with you Calypso! I think they are too mushy and sweet with frosting. We use 1 bag milk chic chips and 1 bag semisweet melted with 1/2 cup heavy cream, then mixed with 1 cake. Quick tip! If you have a stand mixer, like a KitchenAid, you can drop chunks of cake in and let the mixer crumble it for you, and when that's done, add the ganache about 1/2 cup at a time. If you have a hand mixer it will crumble the cake, but probably won't handle the ganache. Too heavy. - TandAlly

Calypso, I envy your work! I will never be at your artistic level, but you are definitely an inspiration to get me to at least try :) - StephiePooh

I made mickey ones for DD's bday check out my profile for pics and other ppl's tips! I used the family fun recipe linked from bakerella but I used colored chips instead of coloring them! If u color them yourself don't use a water based dye!!! Trust me - TinkerBritt84
