Okay MWers, I need help convincing the hubster that it's really better to stay in a Disney hotel than a non-Disney hotel. Can you give me any special perks besides the Character Breakfast & Magic Mornings that might sway him?

closer. but which other hotel are we comparing it to? How many days? # of guests? - misschurro  6362.1 #17 3:16PM
Basically a cheaper one...we have two little ones a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old. The Disney hotels are way more expensive than the ones outside the park (we're usually a Quality Inn type of family) but I would like to stay at the Dland hotel for my bday. Seeing the post w/the chocolate covered cherries & champagne earlier got me thinking-Disney hotel = more magic! - JennDear  16.5 #8151 3:19PM
If you upgrade to concierge level there they have a full food area which would save you lots of money on snacks! Hope that helped! - mouseKIDears  64.5 #4306 3:19PM
Can you see WOC from any of the rooms @ Paradise Pier? - JennDear  16.5 #8151 3:21PM
we just stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and it was awesome but you really just sleep in the room the rooms are awesome but for the price the Desert inn and suites is better and priceline deal is the best!!!!! - Rob512  756.3 #249 3:24PM
The best thing about staying at a Disney hotel is that you never leave the "Disney bubble." That feeling isn't something that can be easily explained. Disney is everywhere--in the basic customer service, character breakfasts, special light up headboards, the pools, even the parking lots. Its expensive to always stay on property, but if you can do it once in awhile, for special occasions, it makes the trip a million times better! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 3:27PM
Rob512 had me thinking sensibly, then Spoonful O Sugar got me right back to my original feeling! lol I want to be in the Disney bubble, I totally get what you're saying. - JennDear  16.5 #8151 3:29PM
I agree with Rob, staying at desert or tropicanna saves u $200 a nite and u can still walk, $200 is alot of money to spend on nice restaurants and Disney stuff in th park - JimW  1074.1 #170 3:34PM
I love staying on site but I only do so when I can get a great AP rate :) - LoveLove  346.0 #688 3:34PM
But yeah isn't all the character breakfast stuff extra? I too would love to stay at the hotels but I also feel that it's one thing if you go to the parks for several days or you are local and go to the parks all the time. I want to stay at the hotels to do stuff at the hotels and enjoy stuff at the hotels. Personally I want to watch the fireworks from bed but if I was only going for a couple of days I do think watching them from bed makes up seeing them in person so I wouldnt get to experience my hotel room idea if I'm trying to experience all there is at the parks. - Smart.tea  206.7 #1913 3:36PM
Lol! That's funny! I do want to add that Magic Mornings are one HUGE plus. You can get so much accomplished in that first hour! I didn't think it would be worth it at first, but walking on all the Fantasyland rides when the park is all clean and fresh is priceless. Like I said previously, a Disney resort is expensive, and not feasible for every stay, but it's worth it to spend the extra money every so often. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 3:36PM
It's easier with little ones because you don't have to cross busy streets with a stroller and u can go back to the room for a nap and u don't have to worry about parking :) - LoveLove  346.0 #688 3:36PM
Well, i just read that when you check into any DL resort Hotel, each registered guest receives 2 fast passes to use on any ride, even a "special fast pass return line" for Little Mermaid... That runs June 3rd until Sept 5th check ins. We stayed at the Grand back in march and it was great! Loved the convienience of being soooo close! - dizzycat1969  132.9 #62 3:44PM
This is such a hard one for me. We stayed at the Grand twice last year and absolutely love the atmosphere, service, and Disney magic. However last week hubby and I had a quick 2 night getaway to DL and stayed at the Park Vue Inn which is probably an even closer walk into the park than the Grand. I have to say that as much as I like a DL hotel the Park Vue was relatively inexpensive, comfortable room, and included breakfast and an evening social hour. I think if it's a special occasion a DL hotel is wonderful, but for me my best memories are of the park experience, not where I slept - RocklinMousewife  259.6 #1259 3:46PM
SoS I'm with you all the way on the "Disney bubble"! We stayed at the DL hotel and didn't leave DLR property for six days. Everything was perfect from the second we woke up, all day long, and then collapsed into those deliciously comfortable beds at night! I would not stay anywhere else but an on-site hotel :) and there is no hassle with a shuttle, it's faster to get in to the parks, magic mornings are sweet, oh the list goes on! @JennDear, just play the "It's my Birthday" card  you're a busy mom and you deserve it! - TandAlly  213.5 #1825 3:51PM
We just booked our hotel for July, and we did look at the Park Vue, didn't realize it was that close. We're staying at the Hilton, how's the walk from there? I know exactly where it is, just never walked from there... - dizzycat1969  132.9 #62 3:51PM
