Let's share! Ok, I'm definitely not a dieter--I enjoy my favorite foods in moderation and eat fairly healthy most of the time. However, it's hard to eat "in moderation" at DL. It's so extreme--there's junk food everywhere and the portion sizes are huge! What are everyone's tips for eating well at the parks, without feeling like you're going to explode or that missing out on yummy food? What are the treats that satisfy you the most? What are your favorite restaurants?

this is my "plan", but it never really works out for me, but hopefully it does for you! So before i start in any meal, I always always ask for it to go! with the to go boxes, i know that i can eat some for now and some for later. It's that whole mentality thing. Plaza inn has to go boxes (small and large) and bags. Just ask for a to go box and BAM there you go. you dont even have to buy from there. For snacks during the day, i bring snacks from home, banana, granola bar, etc. If you feel like you dont want to lug all this stuff, try the huge fruit platter at Riverbelle Terrace or go grab a bite at any fruit cart. The treat that satisfies me the most, without that "im going to explode" feeling is a smoothie from Shmoozies! My fav resturaunt is Rancho del zocalo, and plaza inn since it can easily be shared! (ps. If you dont want a to go thing, but don't want to pig out, SHARE!) Hope i helped! also don't be afraid to grab a mocha double scoop sundae from time to time! :) - Madi  204.1 #1571 6:14PM
For the last 5 or so years, by the time I get to DL I'd have been on a diet for so long that it's pretty easy to continue on it. My problem is that the first time I "blow" it, I'm gone but I know this, so I usually try not to blow it until the last day (so I can't do that much damage!). This year I'm already stressing about the new Fried Tomato sandwich - isn't that ridiculous? I want to have it but know that it's probably a zillion calories! - msdizmaui  518.9 #223 12:18AM
Madi, the to-go box is a good idea! I never think to do that at DL! My husband and I usually share entrees, and we still have leftovers. Aside from Cafe Orleans's Monte Cristo/Pommes Frites, I love Bengal BBQ--the meat is so flavorful and satisfying! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.9 #285 8:14AM
This is my go too plan, I eat breakfast before I arrive... Oatmeal with dried cranberries and walnuts or almonds and of course coffee. I bring a backpack with a refillable water bottle and a few treats... Fruits ... Popcorn.... Then ihave the children's option at plaza inn the chicken dinner is just right or the little carvers over at the terrace restaurant right by your Bengal place. I have also brought in subway which I walk too right down the street from the land. Basicallly I try to buy one meal and maybe indulge in one treat, that way I do't feel deprived . Somedays I I do eat more... Those days I just decide I have to walk more... Thanks for your tip as well. ... Popcorn - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2375 5:28PM
Twinkleashes, the kids meal is a good idea! I never think to do that. Thanks! For breakfast, my husband and I usually share a low-cal or all-fruit Jamba Juice and steel-cut oatmeal. Subway is a great idea, too, because a $5 footlong could really give you two meals of you have an ice chest! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.9 #285 7:07PM
