Just noticed the other day that they are charging for embroidery now on hat. :( $3 for name $5 for special design it's a bit much for something that has been free for years. It test upset me they're doing this now. Why charge other then to make more money.
Do they charge in the park as well?
Not test i typed really - sylviamta

Its actually $3 for basic and $7 for premium. We've been charging that for a few years now... - BaseballMickey_CM

Wow, I had no idea, but I haven't bought a hat in years - SassySally

BBM, can we do nicknames now? Like can I get my MW name embroidered on a hat? I think I saw someone posting that we can - ladylikesdisney

Ehh, there's a fine line we walk when doing hat writing. Not really sure. But, the story of that certain MWer who did, its a good one to hear! - BaseballMickey_CM

Lol okay. I guess I'll just ask, and if they say no, I'll have a MW button anyway:) Thanks! - ladylikesdisney

I hate that they charge for something so inexpensive to do. Especially when the hats arent cheap. It was a perk that came with buying a hat at Disney it made it special. I don't think I'll buy my lil his 1st hat any more in protest. :( - sylviamta

We have a family friend named "smiley" who watched our dogs while we were there. Heck of a discussion to convince a cm to put smiley on a hat. - unclebeezy

Why wouldn't they charge more? Not like they are not making enough money.... Geeezzzz!! A soda costs $3.00, that would normally cost $1.75 in a vending machine... Love Disney but the prices are a little out of control. - luvlilo

I don't think the prices are really out of line. Food and drinks are definitely more expensive at other theme parks and at the movies. - disney42dude(CM)

I was pretty miffed at this too. Last time I was there it was free, and the embroidery was done by a real person. Now, it's done by computer and they charge for it? Seems really greedy. I had them put "JennDear" which is my screen name on every other online thing I do, and it was not an issue. - JennDear

I agree with Disney dude. Knots and universal are out of control. - tjackson

I would love to get "Skelly Mouse" on a pair of ears...but that won't happen at the parks.. i guess off to the swap meet it is :( - SkellyMouse

Do they not do nicknames? I don't get why they'd care what you put as long as it's not profanity. - JennDear
16.5 #5458 10:50PM
Yea, last i remember no nick names :( it's the least since you're paying for it you know? - SkellyMouse

My son one time wanted to put his friend's name - which is Hawaiian - and it took an act of Congress to get it approved. The CM and the Manager said "no" (even after they made us show our driver's licenses to prove we were from Hawaii) - he only got it because the next person in line had lived in Hawaii and read them the riot act (on our behalf). - msdizmaui

We got a infant hat for our yoda backpack and asked if we could put YODA on it they said no for copyright issues. We asked what if our name spelled out yoda! And they said they would need proof like on our ID. So our chile is going to be named: Yasmin Ortensia Deedra Adams! If we ever have a kid. - ImAlwaysCrazy

I miss the old machines that had a swivel handle on the bottom where they would wildly try to control it as they wrote your name out. - ZombieJerky

Took lots of convincing to have them put "Serra" (school name) on the back of my graduation 2010 hat. I finally just said, it's my sisters name lol - CrashIntoMe

When did they stop doing the embroidery by hand? Machines replacing humans, how sad... - akmickey

Just playing Devil's Advocate here for a minute. We own a custom embroidery shop and I can tell you that $3.00 is a really good deal for a name on a hat. We charge $6.00 to put a name on a hat that you buy from us and $10.00 to put a name on a hat that you bring in. I miss the old fashioned way they used to do it too. I would love to get my hands on one if those old machines and learn to do that! - vernswifevickie

It all depends on the CM who is the hat writer. The other day, a guest wanted to put "Intern" on a hat, and we let me. Stuff like that is okay, but others, ehh, its iffy. - BaseballMickey_CM

@Spencer...we'll see you guys this weekend and I'll give you a business card. Or you can text me and I'll text you the info. I read in the FAQs that we shouldn't post links to our businesses in the lounge. - vernswifevickie

I put "BLG" on a hat, no questions asked. And this is Disney. Are you really that surprised they charge for something? - tina

Ya can you believe I had to show them my ID for Tiana, like umm that's my real name!!! And one of the ladies on main street lied and said they didn't do special characters like apostrophes I saw a hat couple days later I sooo want to take mine back and get what I actually wanted on it. - PrincessTianaCM
